||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My daughter had this for 2 months and started having trouble. Had to jump through hoops with HP to come to a somewhat satisfactory solution. Stick with Lenovo or Mac.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fantastic laptop but the bezels were too big and the pen had a delay when writing. Very smooth writing though. Great speakers for its size. Loved the leather case. Lots of value for the price

Hardware or software issue?-bad experience overall
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simple problem of laptop not shutting down. But have been with customer service three times since i bought this but they can't seem to find a fix. don't know if this is a hardware or a software issue but this has been a terrible experience. and to think this is a fairly expensive purchase and a big company behind this product.

NEW fANCY COMPUTER
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Too many glitches! 2 weeks to set up, I used 3 x then it died. sent in 2x for over 6 weeks. Had to pay for extra warranty and GEEK Squad. I only had this computer going on 7 mos now and it is still slower than my 10 yr old computer. They said "Best they can do" Fancy does NOT mean better! definitely Not worth the $$$$$

Overheats
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this laptop based off the reviews and had nothing but bad luck with it. great computer if you want a headache
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's been over a month, I've even taken it back to Best Bye to try and solve problems of the mouse jumping everywhere and type jumping as well and STILL to annoying to use. When I have more time and don't feel like screaming at it, I'll likely take it out of the case again. HELP

Speedy, Stylish, and Svelte
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This ultrabook checks all the boxes. Not only is stunning to look at with a premium metal shell, chrome hinges, and clean underside, it has a premium feel with machined edges. Pros: -Wicked fast. The 8th gen Intel 4-core i7u CPU blazes through tasks. I'm amazed they crammed a U-series CPU in this tiny chassis -Keyboard feels wonderful and has a delightfully clack-y sound -The screen is very clear with good color saturation and contrast -2 Thunderbolt ports on the right and a legacy USB-A on the left mean this is future-proof but still compatible with today's reality. -Two biometrics - windows hello camera and fingerprint sensor. And the fingerprint sensor is on the side so it can be used while the laptop is closed (like it might be when plugged into an external monitor) Brilliant! -MicroSD slot for easy storage expansion -So thin and light -There are raised edges on the bottom that are perfectly positioned for carrying the device (love it) -Large glass trackpad that works very well -Pen included in the box -Charges very fast using HP adapter Neutrals: -Battery life is adequate. Not great, not terrible. expect 5-6 hours of real-life use. -Sound is OK. Not great, not terrible. Considering the thinness of the chassis, it is fine -Right clicking can be a little balky -Two fans to help with cooling so the CPUs can run longer under load. They are not loud, but you will hear them as a 'whoosh' under heavy load Negatives (almost none) -The case flexes a little bit more than an equivalent MacBook, especially the lid. Feels like it would dent easily -Fans run at low volumne steadily if plugged into an external USB-C monitor -HP Bloatware (but easy to uninstall) -Hinges are a little wobbly, but this seems to be true of all 2-1s At the blowout prices in early 2019 this laptop is an absolute steal. I love the look (even Apple fans have complimented it) and the 2 separate biometrics is a very nice surprise. Also love the MicroSD card slot which is unusual.

Compares to a Surface Pro
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP Spectre 360 is unlike any laptop I have had int he past. It most definitely can be compared to the Surface Pro. It converts into a tablet style and is very lightweight. It powers up quickly, is fast and has a great speaker system. I really enjoy using the pen - but don't always get 100% accuracy when drawing or writing. It is not always a fluid line when you would want it to be. The only other reasons I rated it a 4 instead of a 5 is because it seems to heat up right in the middle where you would hold it in your lap when it is converted into a tablet. This is not comfortable to watch a movie or use it for a long period of time. Additionally the fan is a little loud when it is cooling off. otherwise - this is a fun and stylish computer.

Disappointed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was supposed to be my daughters college computer. Stopped working one month after purchase. Local Best Buy staff unable to repair. After one month of 'waiting for parts', BB finally replaced it. I expected better reliability from a HP product.

Thin & Powerful!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP Spectre x360 13-ae011dx is proving to be the laptop upgrade that I have wanted for a long time. It has a level of power and design I never thought would be possible in a laptop of this size. To begin, the design is nothing short of brilliant! Amazingly thin yet durable. This really does feel like a premium laptop. Much of what makes this look and feel so premium is the attention to detail. The aluminum shell, the deep set keyboard, the design of the speaker grill, the nice touch of the power and volume buttons on the sides, the beautifully designed hinges and so on. This computer just looks awesome! Even the included leather like sleeve for carrying it fits & looks great. Yet as well built as it is, it still weighs next to nothing. Carrying it around all day or having it sit on your lap for hours on end will not be an issue. It also runs incredibly quite. You will hear the fan kick in from time to time but it is not loud at all. I am really impressed with the ports. One USB 3.0 and two USB-C ports (used for charging as well) along with a micro SD card slot are more than enough for this type of computer. USB-C is the future for sure. But having the USB 3.0 for legacy needs is nice as well. I should also mention that the back-lit keyboard not only looks great but works very well without being distracting. The screen is absolutely beautiful as well. Colors are vibrant yet natural. Good (and accurate) contrast with deep blacks is important to me as I do a lot of photography work with my computers. The 1920x1080 HD native resolution is more than enough for a 13.3" screen. I know that 4K is all the rage these days. But honestly, it is not needed on a screen this size. Not to mention a 4K screen would eat into what is currently amazing battery life. I have been able to go from morning until evening on a full charge with room to spare. This is while doing everything from web browsing, to watching videos and even using Photoshop. I have never had a laptop come close to lasting this long on a battery. A big part of what helps the battery life and also what makes this computer run so smooth is the 256GB SSD drive and the new 8th generation Core i7 chip. I have read that the new 8th gen chip is supposed to be around 40% faster than the previous generation. Hard to say just yet if it is that much of a gain but it is amazingly fast & powerful. The 8GB of RAM is plenty sufficient when combined with the i7. From power on to up and fully running is only a matter of seconds. Something that was unheard of only a few years ago. I have yet to throw anything at it that it can't handle with ease. As I mentioned before, I do a lot of photography. One of my biggest reasons for wanting this laptop was to have a small yet powerful machine I could easily carry in my camera bag. Photoshop & Lightroom have a tendency to be very resource heavy and can really bog a computer down. I can honestly say that these programs are running faster & better on this laptop than any other computer I have! I can't help but think the 8th gen i7 chip has a lot to do with that. This laptop comes with the HP pen for writing directly on the screen. It works very well with good pressure sensitivity that allows it to mimic a real pen writing on paper. Depending on your needs, this might be of more use when using the laptop in tablet mode. As for the tablet mode, it is a very handy feature. Particularly for web browsing and media uses. It might be a little large to use as your everyday tablet. But with its thin design and next to nothing weight, you certainly could do so. I might ad Windows 10 works very well in tablet mode. It switches back and forth quick and with ease. Two things about this computer that I really didn't think would be a big deal going into it but are really turning out to be very handy features are the face recognition and the finger print scanner. Both work extremely well. I particularly like the facial recognition for opening Windows. It has yet to fail to recognize my face. And as for the finger print scanner, it works just as accurately. It can be a bit tricky to find if you just reach for it without looking. Maybe a raised edge around the scanner would help in being able to quickly find it. I am really stumped to think of anything to list as a "con" for this laptop. I have seen much more expensive laptops that do not perform this well. Unless you need a bigger hard drive (keep in mind the hard drive and RAM are not user serviceable) or if you really, really need a 4K screen then I can't think of a reason to spend more.
