Very Fast Duo Purpose Windows Laptop/Tablet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.HP has a winner with this new Spectre X360 13.3" 2 in 1. It comes with one of Intels fastest I7 processor, 8 gb of DDR4 Memory, and an incredibly fast 256gb M.2 solid state hard drive. It has a beautiful 13.3" 1080P touch screen that reaponds very well for the couple weeks I've been testing or really just playing with my new toy! Lol. It is one of the lightest and best portable's that I've found and has very good battery life which really just depends on what you are doing to the amount of time you get out of it before having to recharge which is never as long as the manufacturers state as they always bloat these times just as a selling point I guess but think they would be better off being a little more honest to avoid irritating customer's when they don't come near those stated max amount of battery life. Sorry I got a little off track on a rant so with doing windows updates and downloading software like I always do with new computer's, I was able to get right around 6 hour's before having to hookup the charge cable which has plenty of length for most people. So far I really haven't come across any real cons or complaints besides the irritation of getting windows 10 to cooperate and hookup to my network which doesn't have anything to do with this laptop and has everything to do with Windows 10 as I have had this problem with 3 other laptops that I have upgraded to windows 10 and have had issue's with each and every one I've upgraded to windows 10 for some reason. But I thought I should mention this just in case other's try to blame the hardware instead of the actual problem. I would like to end this by saying that if you are used to android or apple tablets then you might find the windows tablet mode a little difficult to get used to and might not like it but if you give it time then eventually you will get used to it enough that you can do everything the other's do just a little differently, which I'm still not sure about but it's getting there and you could also say the same about windows 10 but I've been playing with it from the beginning and I really do like win 10 and I believe it is faster than previous version's of windows and when you add all of it together you end up with one of the lightest, fastest, laptop/tablet with a lot of great uses as well as potential to do so much more than I have space to write about and I can definitely recommend this to everyone looking for a new laptop with a bonus tablet to boot!

Backspace key keeps getting stuck
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop on black Friday (still a pricey laptop) and I already have to take it in for repairs because the backspace key gets stuck down when you press it and it's very frustrating when you're trying to type anything. If it wouldn't be for that issue I would give it 4.5 stars.

Fantastic laptop for productivity
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is fantastic. It is fast, it is compact and the Gorilla Glass gives you a sense of security for drops. It is perfect for productivity - using Office, emails, and browsing the web. Many laptops have noticeable performance degradation as you use them, but not this one. The touch screen is also an added bonus so you can use it in desktop or tablet mode. It's also super light and easy to transport. A great buy for anyone looking for a productivity machine.

Very versatile!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Every time I have bought a laptop it has always been 15 inches, so I was a little hesitant with a 13 inch laptop. Even though 2 inches doesn't sound like a big difference I have noticed it in a very positive way. I love that I can easily take this Spectre to work and back home without any issues carrying it, especially since it is under 3 lbs. At work I can use it primarily as a laptop and at home I use it as a tablet. Since it is smaller and lighter than your traditional laptop, all I have to do is fold it over and it goes it tablet mode. I have enjoyed watching Netflix at home and with the Bang & Olufsen speakers the audio is awesome. Another great plus to this Spectre is the battery life. I have used the laptop for 3 days for an average of 4 hours a day between work and home and I still haven't had to recharge it. The quality of the video on this device is fantastic. My kids have been begging me to let them borrow it because they love the quality of the video. I haven't used the pen that it comes with that much, but when I have, it is very intuitive. I also love that I don't have to wait long for it to boot up. When I have used it at work, I love that I am ready to go while other people are still waiting for their devices to boot up. I have gotten so many compliments from the people at work about the look and feel of this Spectre. If you are a serious laptop user that loves versatility, this Spectre is the right choice. It is definitely worth the money.

DO NOT BUY
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do you like really expensive paperweights? If you answer yes, then this is the laptop for you! Full disclosure, I loved my old HP. That was laptop was a beast and kept on trucking. This... this laptop is 13 MONTHS OLD, 13!!! DONE. Dead. RIP. I spent $200 on an extended warranty for the motherboard to be called home a month after the warranty expired. DO YOUR RESEARCH. This is not the only story you will find like this, this computer is a lemon. The only reason it has so many stars is right up until programmed cell death it is a rock star Instead of a rock.

Slow!

IMPRESSIVE!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this HP Spectre x360 touch laptop. Lightweight, nice keyboard size and easy-touch, fast, and was super easy to setup .... the laptop nearly did the entire setup all by itself! What a time saver! I have downloaded new apps to it from the MS Store and love the easy use of them on the laptop. Can't wait to test the usability with a home floor plan as I'm designing a massive upgrade to one of my homes and this should be fun to do it on this laptop! I'm still exploring the unit and will take it on my next trip to "kick the tires" while on the road. I always carry all of my "needed files" with me on a flash drive and load to the hard drive, but will try using DROPBOX instead to see if easier to transfer back/forth to my home's desktop. I think my only complaint so far, is that the bottom got rather hot when I was resting on my lap and using from the couch. The heat reduced dramatically when I opened it up flat and slightly held in the air. While this was a little bothersome, with the laptop being so light-weight, my arm didn't get tired. I love this laptop!

Don't buy - piece of junk - look elsewhere
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought my daughter the HP - Spectre x360 laptop for college. Within 2 months, it has a fan issue and needs to be sent in for service. Takes at least 7 business days. What college student can live without their computer for what is likely two weeks? Save yourself the aggravation and look at another brand.

Beautiful and affordable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have yoga 900 and miix 720, this is better than yoga. This is lighter and smaller than yoga 900 with same screen size 13.3". The design is beautiful, looks like metal, no flex and sturdy. Has enough ports and features, did I say thunderbolt ? checked! Using face to unlock is very convenient, take that Apple X. I am typing this using the laptop. I can play game such as Burnout Paradise but Need for Speed 2016 is totally not playable. No fan noise when using battery. Battery life is very good. Now the negatives, keyboard backlight has only 2 states, on or off. In the dark, on is too bright. Wish it has multiple levels of brightness. The pen is only good for taking notes, it is not for artist as it does not have enough levels of pressure sensitivity and the spec does not have this info so my guess is only 256 levels. The miix has 4096 levels! If you are looking for similar class of laptop, spectre x360 is a very good choice.

Impressive convertible laptop with pen support
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the opportunity to use almost all the versions of the 13-inch HP Spectre x360 laptop until now and every time I felt that these are machines that have been designed in a really good manner while providing a good value over its competitors. Currently my daily driver has been the one with 7th Gen Intel Core i7 (Kaby Lake) without the pen support, and for the last year it has been providing me with great service. Compared to that, the new one with 8th gen Intel i7 CPU and HP pen support provides some minute changes (aside from the apparent CPU). The aluminum chassis is now sharper at the edges, and HP has relocated the air vents from the side to the back. The bottom vent patterns is also changed a bit. I haven't tested it thoroughly, but my guess is that this may have something to do with improving the thermal performance. Now, along with the IR webcam based authentication, there's also a fingerprint reader on the side which I really like. The face recognition was a hit-or-miss for me (especially in darker environment), and I felt that the fingerprint-based one is much faster. Aside from this, the laptop has the regular array of features - a pretty decent 1080p FullHD display (quite reflective though), 2x Thunderbolt 3 USB-C type ports (both can be used for charging and display if you have a dongle), 1x regular USB 3.0 port, headphone jack, volume rocker. The power button is now raised a bit so it's easier to press than before. The HD webcam is quite good and it's located in the right place (on the top of the display as it should be) compared to that of some other similar laptops. Performance is quite impressive from this thin and light convertible - the 8th gen Core i7 is quad core (compared to 7th gen's dual core), but the difference from the previous generation is not that apparent to me. But overall it's fast. The 256GB NVMe SSD works well as expected, and the onboard and soldered 8GB RAM is adequate for most people I think. Battery life is pretty impressive. The longest I got was around 17 hours (as seen in the Battery Report generated by Windows) with my usual mix of daily workload. Overall, this is a really good laptop to consider if you're looking for a thin and light convertible. The included pen helps a lot in note taking and some drawing/sketching on the go - though it's far from being a proper replacement for an iPad Pro or a Surface tablet. If your budget permits, I would suggest to definitely take a look at it.

Fast, Powerful, and Fun 2-in-1 machine
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After the initial adjustment period, which Is there with any new laptop (new keyboard layout, etc.), I've come to absolutely love this HP Spectre x360. It is less storage than I'm used to, but as I looked at what I had stored on my old drive and what I actually needed I realized, for example, my photos/videos could stay on network storage, and a lot of apps I had installed I just never used. In the end, I loaded it up with everything I regularly use, and then some more, and only used up about 1/2 of the available storage, which leaves plenty of room for breathing. It feels like the smaller disk will force me to keep the disk 'clean' and not overload it with stuff I don't need, will cause me not to 'hoard' as it were. With the NVMe SSD, this computer boots up very fast, and runs real smooth. Even things like windows system software upgrades (which there has already been one or two major ones) go VERY fast, compared with my previous system which also had an SSD (though not NVMe) and an i7 (4 generations older). I'm of mixed opinion on the sound quality. For one, this laptop is thin, very thin-- so there is not much room for the speaker to generate sound. Given the space it has it generates decent sound, but compared to my last (much fatter) laptop the sound is a bit tinny. But it does get loud enough, and I noticed when I played back home movies on the laptop the sound wasn't that bad, but for music the sound quality was mediocre. When you flip this thing over into tablet mode, wow, it's incredible. I love reading online web-books (through a subscription I have with safaribooksonline) in portrait mode (tall) and it feels like I'm holding a giant e-reader. Also, I have a texture magazine subscription, and once again in portrait in tablet mode it is an incredible experience being able to read magazines at near original magazine size (in some cases, bigger than the original magazines ever were). The Pen is a pretty nifty feature. I tried it with the New York Times Crosswords app - not included - (let's ignore that I'm not good at them), and found that I could hand-write answers into the crosswords - it would recognize my handwriting and fill it into the puzzle as typed letters, which I thought was very cool. This actually could force me to work on my handwriting which I get very little practice with too as I can see where it misrecognizes poor handwriting. My one "complaint" about the pen, if there is one, is that there's no place in the laptop to store the pen, but my HP Spectre came with a storage/carry sleeve which had a place for the pen, and as long as I always have the sleeve with me (probably will) it shouldn't be a problem. If there's one negative to the sleeve, it doesn't accommodate the power plug like a traditional laptop bag might, however with the claimed battery life on this tablet that may be a non-issue for most daily use -- for extended travel I can just throw the charger in luggage. It's pretty cool that this charges with a USB-C charger, I never thought I'd see the day where the same kind of plug (not the same charge itself) goes into my cell phone and my notebook. The fingerprint sensor makes signing in easier (when it works, it may take some training or practice), but I wouldn't say it improves security - the reality is you always have the password/pin options you're not eliminating them, you're making another way in. Overall, Do I like it? Well, I just outright replaced my old notebook with this (it's been unplugged/turned off for 2 days) and went out and bought the three year care-pack (accidental damage protection) on this HP after only 2-3 days of using it, because frankly it's just that much better than what i was using.

Spectacular Spectre!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loving this new 2-1 laptop! I’ve been so frustrated with my previous laptop (it couldn’t keep up with me) I was so excited to try this one! When I unboxed this laptop, I loved the packaging! It’s classy and gorgeous! I was amazed with the light weight laptop that still feels like quality. Setup was quick and painless thanks to Cortana. I’m still getting used to windows 10, but the search is great for helping to find tools that aren’t in their familiar windows 7 place. The first thing I noticed when Cortana started talking, was the surprising sound! It was loud and rich! The speaker placement is ingenious in that it makes it sound like it’s sounds are coming from all around the laptop. I’ve watched videos and listened to music and the sound quality is so much better than I anticipated! The display is gorgeous as well! It’s a glossy display so it will reflect light, but if that bothers me, I adjust my position until it doesn’t. It’s easy to adjust the display/font for older eyes like mine that may need a bigger font. The bezel is small on the sides but a bit bigger on the top and bottom to allow for webcam. Tablet mode is very awesome and responsive! Though I wish that it would still have the task bar at the bottom of the display in tablet mode. I do understand this is an OS issue and not specific to this device. It’s so fast! I play an internet game that in my previous laptop would always cause lag due to performance issues: HDD would always max at 100% and memory would be in the high 80s. At this moment, I’m running the game too and disk is at 1%, CPU 10% and Memory is at 66%. Now I usually use chrome and I know it’s resource hungry. I always have at least a dozen tabs open, outlook, AND I’m writing this review in resource hungry Word which I would have never been able to have all that open in my previous machine! Storage is not huge at 256GB, but with that we get FAST SSD. There is a SD port for additional storage. I would prefer 16GB Ram but this works great for most uses. Keyboard is a chicklet style keyboard that is full size and comfortable to use. Stylus is pretty cool, but not as responsive as I would hope. It can be a mouse replacement due to a button being programmed as the right click. Battery life is amazinfingerg! I’ve spent hours on this machine and barely put a dent in the battery life. My only con and believe me, it’s minor, the vents aim right out the back. As this sits on my lap, it blows on my knees making them hot. The surface itself never gets hot which is great, just the air blowing out the back. Like I said it’s pretty minor! Another bonus, it comes with a leather sleeve case that has a small pocket for the stylus. It doesn’t hold the power adapter, but with this great battery life, I’ll rarely need it. All in all, I’m so happy to have this

Powerful laptop in a compact package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After having some time to interact with this Spectre x360 which I am actually using to write this review, I am pretty satisfied and impressed with it as a laptop and the ease to transition to it from my wife's MacBook. I've been using IOS on the MacBook primarily and was concerned about changing over to Windows 10 OS but it has been an enjoyable journey. The Cortana windows assistant has also helped with making things easier. This HP came in a beautiful packaged box so I expected the device to be just as beautiful, it was. This is a very sleek, clean lined, and compact convertible laptop. It feels very nice but a bit fragile because it is so thin and tapered which is not really a drawback because that is one of the reasons I like it for its portability to be able carry it anywhere I go. The screen has very minimal vertical bezels on the screen and the common bezels horizontally to accommodate the web cam, mics, and to give a sturdy mount for the 360 hinges. The hinges seem to be sturdy enough to withstand the vigor of rotating the screen thru all of the modes (laptop, tent, display, and tablet). The concept and capability of the convertible laptop is nice but I don't see myself using this as a tablet. It does not feel comfortable to hold as a tablet as I am constantly pushing the buttons of the keyboard which are open to the back when in tablet mode. To watch movies in display mode or tent mode is nice but the sound from the speakers is directed away from you. Watching movies in laptop mode provides the best experience for both sound and picture. The speakers are really nice and the best I've experienced from a laptop. This HP comes with Bang & Olufsen sound system which provide a full sound with great volume with little to no distortion at the highest level. I'm listening to the Pandora app as I write this review and it sounds great. There is also a simplistic audio equalizer that you can use to make slight adjustments but I felt no need as it sounds good to me. It does not have that overwhelming tinny sound that is common from laptop computers. The video is full HD and the resolution is very pleasing to the eye. I watched Rogue One from the Netflix app and was very pleased with video and graphics performance. The on board fan and ventilation of this laptop keep the heat to a minimum and I can't even hear the fan operating when it is on. Very good for plane flights or road trips to have this laptop sitting on your lap without getting over heated. The keyboard is very satisfying in the way it feels when typing. The keys are a good size and spaced very well even though the overall size of keyboard seems a little tight but nothing to complain about. The backlight feature for they keys is a one push button on/off with no brightness adjustment. In certain lighting when the backlight is on it makes the keys difficult to see because of silver color of the keys and the led color of the lights, but if you know how to type well that will not be an issue if you are familiar with your keyboard. I continuously used the term laptop because that is what I see myself primarily using this for. I will most likely not use my wife's MacBook anymore since getting this and it will quickly become my favorite go to device for laptop duties and movie streaming on trips. This HP is very powerful and much quicker than I expected. On startup it takes seconds to power-up and be ready to sign on. It has fingerprint and facial recognition as a security sign-on feature which is somewhat accurate even-though not perfect. But it also offers a pin as a back-up in case of misreads. Everything I have done to try and bog down the cpu it has passed with flying colors. It works fast at loading and opening every app and web page while multi-tasking of streaming video or music. It also comes with a stylus which I do not use much as I am still getting accustomed to writing on a screen. The screen is touch enabled which is really nice when I am being lazy and do not want to use the touch pad which is wide and very nice. The things that I find to picky about are just because I'm transitioning from and a MacBook to this windows HP and it is just an adjustment period that I am sure I will overcome. I can say that I definitely prefer the HP Spectre over the MacBook for performance visually, speed, and in audio. It comes with 2 usb-c (thunderbolt) ports and a two length charging cable, 1 usb-a port, micro sd slot, and 3.5mm headphone jack. The battery life is very good although I do not know the exact hours that I've used this laptop. I charged it fully and have used it for 3 days streaming videos, music, web browsing, and a little word processing. I still have 23% battery life remaining on day three with intermittent use without charging. Overall the HP Spectre x360 is a power packed, beautiful, universal machine that will quickly become a favorite in your smart electronic device collection. We will see how it withstands the everyday use of the bump and grind. It does come with a leather-like notebook carry case that will help protect it. Definitely a worth while purchase.

Yup, this is the one!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.HP does not make it easy, seems like they have 10 different Spectre models out there. To see if you have the latest look at the left side of the laptop, there is no grill, if you see one it is probably the previous model. Nevertheless both are great but this is the 8th gen for better battery life and performance. You can opt for the 4k screen but on a 13" laptop there is little to gain and a lot of power overhead. If you run a 4k screen in 1080 you will get about 15% less battery life than the 1080 screen but will have the 4k as an option to enable when plugged in. If you run 4k on battery life will be less than half of the 1080 version. Thinks to consider. I chose the 1080 version and pretty happy with it overall. This is replacing my Lenovo Yoga 3
