Great features 4K 8550U MX150, but Screen has PWM
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want to keep you but I can't. The Screen using PWM method for controlling brightness. I need laptop for lots reading pdf, photo and video editing, so PWM is what you need to avoid. HP put screen from cheap BOE company, instead LG. In your next model please use LG screen 4K resolution without PWM

Do Not Buy HP CarePack
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the laptop. My original was a lemon. After months of (various) troubles, and countless hours interacting with HP Support, HP finally agreed to replace my laptop. Actually, I had to buy a new one if I did not want to be without it for several weeks and risk losing all of my data and apps. The HP CarePack process and organization was frustrating and offered an awful customer experience. Stick with the Best Buy support options, instead. Fortunately, the replacement laptop is better. HP also disappoints with its docking station (and Thunderbolt/USB-C port multiplier) options...or lack thereof for this series of laptops. There is a nice solution for the business line of similar laptops, but it is not compatible, supposedly, with these Spectre x360 laptops.

If it worked as good as it looks it would be great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am in no way a computer expert but I use computers daily and this is one of the most buggy and frustrating computers I have ever used. If you leave it plugged in it works but if you try to use it on battery (main reason to have a laptop) and the battery gets low, when you plug it in it will not charge until it gets low enough to shut itself off. I have researched this problem and found things to try but no luck fixing it yet. I had to turn the touchpad sensitivity to low to get it to stop selecting things that I scroll past. When surfing the internet it is slow and jerky, it took a couple of tries to get here to write this review because I would click on the link and the screen would jump so I hit the wrong link. My HP EliteBook for work on the same network sitting on the counter next to this one does not have these problems. I'm not sure if I got a lemon or what but for what I payed for it I am extremely disappointed and rarely use it as a result.

DO NOT BUY!! NOISE & SCREEN ERRORS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did extensive research trying to find a great laptop. My current Dell laptop WiFi’s card fried and the hinge broke off (they discontinued making my laptop for this reason), so I needed a great laptop ASAP. I’m a bit old school and need to have a keypad on the side (which this laptop has!). In addition to its beautiful design, it has a touch screen and comes with a pen. I bought this laptop which such high hopes. The touch pad could use a bit more grip and when I would plug in my earphones, it would have a couple second lag, but they weren’t dealbreakers. After a day of use I noticed the computer (not the fan) was making a high pitch noise - exactly like an EKG in asystole, just in a higher pitch. I tried to ignore it at first, but to no avail since I work in a very quiet environment. I felt like I was developing tinnitus. After just having the laptop for less than two days, I exchanged it for another one. When I opened up laptop #2, the screen had a red, giant “U” on top - right at startup! It was clear as day. It was a manufacture error. It looks like pressure damaged the screen. I was so defeated. I went back to the store to yet again to exchange it for another one. As a student, I have fallen very behind on my studies. And since my old Dell laptop’s WiFi card was fried, I really needed the HP spectra to work. When I went back to Best Buy for attempt #3, they only had 2 HP spectras left, one had a giant hole in it and the other was badly beaten up. They told me another Best Buy had a couple of HP spectras there. So I drove over half an hour to the other store, said a prayer, and received a new one. I just now opened laptop #3, and to my dismay, not only did this also have a giant red U on the screen (in a different area of the screen this time) but it looks like extreme pressure was put on the upper left hand side too as the area was completely devoid of color. I will be returning this laptop tomorrow. I have given up on the HP spectra. I truly wanted to love this laptop. As a tech savvy student, I was excited for all the bells and whistles this laptop has to offer. But I can’t ignore the literal red flags on the screen. The laptop’s thin design might be to blame, but I’m not entirely sure. Please save yourself and buy a different laptop. Part of me wants to ignore the screen errors, but at this heatfy price, I’m not taking anything less than what I paid for. After getting THREE HP spectras, I feel like I gave it a fair shot. Go buy something else.

ORIGINAL THOUGHT WAS GREAT THEN NOT
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OK so this computer only has 1 USB port. Originally I thought no big deal but then I realized it is a big deal. I have a wireless key board an mouse that I was able to hook up to the USB and that's it. I could not connect the external hard drive, dvd, cooling fan or anything else that I had because of only 1 USB. I could unplug the mouse and keyboard but then it was anoyig SERIOUSLY HP, 1 USB (WHAT WERE YOU THINKING) maybe in the future but now that most external devices use USB is not a good idea

Which X360
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Readers should beware, that HP now has a newer x360 in 15 inch, but it had an offset track pad, a major bummer. Remains to be seen if the 13 inch version is different. Know which x360 you're buying before you do!

Stay away from Horrible-Products!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Stay away from Horrible-Products! I bought this laptop a few years ago but it died just two months after the 1-yr warranty. I called HP support and they offered a "discounted" repair fee of $500... for a $1500 laptop that was barely 1 year old. Luckily I was able it fix it myself after opening the laptop, which was unnecessarily tricky and required special tools, but fast-forward several years and the battery has swollen but this model is not included in HP's battery recall list and HP doesn't even sell compatible batteries! What's worse, Best Buy does not allow you to recycle swollen batteries so you have to pray you live close to a designated recycling center. I have never had this issue with any of my older laptops. I bought this laptop 10 years after my first HP laptop in hopes that Horrible-Products had gotten their act together but it seems they have not changed at all. I will never purchase another HP product again!

A beauty on the outside, but very ugly inside.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wi Fi connection is buggy at best.....its never automatic or quick..usually have to use troubleshooter to get wi fi signal...its not my home wifi, i use many other devices without any trouble. Face recognition is another joke....Cortana doesnt respond half the time or can't understand your voice. My pets understand my commands better than Cortana! I basically don't use the Windows browser, my default browser is Chrome....This Laptop is the worst buy i've made in a long time...Dont make a mistake and buy one....

awful camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.the laptop is good on many fronts. but the camera quality sucks and leaves a lot to be desired. the low light performance of the camera sucks. my 10 year old sony vaio with a vga camera performs lot better when even a bit of light around. this laptop is generally good but the camera is grainy, blurry and IR doesnt work in dark room for windows hello. is hp pulling a fast one on us by not including an IR enabled camera? is it just on paper? did anyone experience similar issues?

Runs hot and lags
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since I've gotten it, this PC runs very hot (it can burn your legs) and lags. It only has 1 normal USB slot right next to the power cord so not convenient. The rest are USB-C. Family member likes Fortnite? Forget it. This can't handle it and lags every few minutes. Was told SSD is so fast, but my 4 year old traditional ASUS laptop runs circles around this.

Do not get this laptop!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had just opened my laptop which I had gotten a great deal on for Black Friday, $500 off base price which is 1600. I was hoping to have this laptop last me at least 4-5 years but then the screen had just gone black. I had tried troubleshooting but nothing had worked. If you would like a laptop do not get one from HP.

Beautiful, useless, paperweight
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it worked, it was great. But it didn't work much after the warranty ran out. Less than 3 years after purchase I needed to replace the motherboard, the battery, and the toll keeps running. This was a horrible laptop, I regret the purchase.
