One of the best games on the Nintendo Switch, especially for online play. A refreshing take on the shooter genre, playing very differently from the more violent Call of Duty and Battlefield franchises because the goal is not to kill your enemies, but to mark more territory in your teams color of ink than your opponent.

It's not a revolutionary sequel, but it's a stellar game on a portable AAA system. Highly recommended.

I played the original Splatoon for Wii U just once or twice at launch before getting bored but decided to give Splatoon 2 a try anyways. I've probably sunk close to 100 hours into the game, and although I don't typically play a lot of "shooter" games, have been able to progress fairly well. As the bulk of the game hinges on online player vs player interaction, one of the nice things is that the goal isn't just killing other players -- it's ultimately about who can "tag" the most ground with paint. This means there are opportunities for different types of players to enjoy the game, despite it being largely PvP. A good team needs players who primarily tag the ground, as well as players who primarily attack the other team. The splat rollers are a good intro weapon for anyone (like I was) not comfortable with aiming and shooting, and you eventually will learn to branch out into other weapons overtime. I've put a good chunk of time into this game and although I've moved onto other things currently, I'm sure I will be back from time to time. Definitely was worth the purchase, and I don't have any major complaints about the game.

If you liked Splatoon, this one is even better. Hilarious Inklings, a robust online community, and addictive "combat" (if you can even call it that.) Also a breezy single-player campaign that you'll keep coming back to, just because it's fun. If you're on the fence whether to invest in a Switch, this game is the reason to get one.

Yeah, the online chat platform is broken but this game is still legit for an online experience. Yeah, the single player is kind of weak but you knew that going into it. This is easily the best TPS on Switch, and it's still kid friendly. Just when you didn't expect Nintendo to continue with great creativity, they do it again.

I'll preface this by admitting I do not like multiplayer online games that revolve around pvp like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Counterstrike etc where the sole purpose is to run around and kill your opponents over and over again. I bought Splatoon 2 on a whim since my Switch has been collecting dust after finishing Breath of the Wild. To my surprise I have been having an absolute blast with it. The 4 player Salmon Run mode is online co op against waves of monsters. The modes don't last very long either which is good if you are on the go and want to get a quick game in. The game does offer a single player campaign mode that offers its own set of challenges and rewarding gameplay. The only downside I would say this game has doesn't lie with the game itself but rather Nintendo's backwards view on online gameplay. It's difficult to play with friends and their idea of online chat is cumbersome forcing you to rely on your smartphone. Most people won't have issues with this but I did. It's not a reason to not recommend the game as I feel a lot of Switch owners would find it difficult to not enjoy this game in some fashion. Highly recommend it!

Splatoon 2 is a must have for Switch gamers. I pre-ordered through BestBuy and the entire process is the way to go to ensure you have a "new release". My daughter and myself could not be happier. We have been waiting for Splatoon 2 ever since we got our Switch and we had it on release day All her friends wanted to play it. Cool.

I won't focus on the gameplay of Splatoon 2 - it's amazing. Many people have already played it or know about it from other reviews. I just wanted to capture the absolute annoyance that is the rest of the game. Salmon Run: This is the four player vs AI co-op mode, and it can only be played on certain days. Yep, if you're a busy or working adult, your one day off might not line up with the day this mode is available. It's a horrible design decision. The hub: Japanese games tend to have this forced social hub that would have been better served as a menu. The loading screens are many and could be completely avoided without the hub. Though I do like the posts to view, perhaps those could be viewed in other manners. Announcers: They told us Callie and Marie were gone. "YES!" everyone shouted. But they were replaced by two other announcers. They are cute, I like them. But holy - please stop making it mandatory to sit through so much unnecessary dialogue. I will see when I queue up what the maps are. Map: There used to be a map on the gamepad on the first game, now you have to cover your entire screen to see the map. It's not easy to pull off looking at it to see where enemies are without getting surprise splatted. I really wish this game had a minimap. Lobby: Being unable to leave the lobby or change weapons while in the lobby is HORRIBLE. Seriously. People claim that that is because the game matches you up with a varied weapon team, but that can't possibly be true when I get games with 3 rollers 1 brush vs a full team of .96 Gal. Networking: The game runs at a tick rate of 16 hz. The game has interpolation problems. The matchmaking faces you against people from around the world. Just all of these things combined are unpleasant. See all these complaints? The gameplay itself is tremendous. I can't say enough good things about it. But these tiny annoyances really add up to make the entire experience...less pleasant.

This game is so much more fun than what I initially thought. It's fantastic. My only complaint is that I didn't get it sooner. I normally don't enjoy online shooters, but this one has pizzazz. Get it. Stop reading. Buy it. Why are you still reading? Go purchase this life-changing product. Are you still reading this?

This is easily the best game released this year. If you have been on the fence about buying a Switch, this game is the system seller. I normally do not like pvp shooter games at all. Splatoon 2 is something totally fresh and unique that simply must be experienced to understand. Nintendo has another hit franchise on their hands.

If you've played the original Splatoon and didn't enjoy it, feel free to move on - the core gameplay isn't much different. However - newbies and returning fans alike will find a lot to love here. The 3 minute matches make it perfect for the on-the-go nature of the Switch, and Salmon Run brings something new for people to enjoy.

A colorful interactive game, with great online play.

I am still a newb since I don't fully understand where "Woomy" comes from, but since it is part of the vernacular I have to showcase it. I was a bit put off from the cartoon style of art, but it quickly won me over with the fact that the gameplay is so revolutionary. It is a fresh take on the shooting genre of games. Depending on your perspective this may warrant taking off a star (I personally believe every Switch owner should have this game in their library), but it does not include a local multiplayer mode. It does have an online component so multiple Switch owners with the game and console can play together, but I can see the fact of non-local play disappointing some people. I have also heard mentions of there being some lag, but I have not noticed that problem. Granted that I bought a Nintendo Switch certified USB-Ethernet adapter, so I rarely play over a wireless connection anymore. Super great game to play with online friends and family, but has enough to warrant serious competitive and solo play. I'd recommend buying at the $45-$55 range, but worth the full $60.

I cannot get enough of this game! I got hooked w/ the first one and couldn't resist to get the 2nd one. Unfortunately the server issues that players experienced w/ the 1st game were not 100% fixed. You will experience some connection loss between games while playing on the Splatfest, but that is more Nintendo's fault.

This is an excellent game on switch. Competing, exciting shooting game yet not requiring an excellent aiming. A lot of completely different weapons to choose from. The original joy con may not be a good choice for long time playing though. (My hands get tired after like 2 hours) A pro controller might help.

Very much like the first Splatoon with new weapons, stages, and customization options. The new Salmon Run mode is very fun and adds another way to play the game. The story mode feels like it built upon the basics of the story from the first game, adding more challenges and new mechanics. Extremely fun, well polished game.

Splatoon 2 is a good game. It has a decent single player campaing but the multiplayer aspects of the game are very fun.

I had never owned a Wii U, so I never played the original Splatoon. I had only ever seen gameplay online. However, from what I have seen, this game takes everything Splatoon had and expands on it. The controls are very responsive, the graphics are great in both docked and handheld mode, and that colors are very vibrant.

This is a great alternative to brown cover shooters. This is a bright and colorful, fast paced fun game with a solid first player campaign and endless multiplayer. The game has been out for over a year and Nintendo continues to support and release new content so it is definitely worth the investment.
