Colorful, Stylish, and Fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, Splatoon 2 takes a lot from Splatoon. The campaign is very similar, though you can finally play through every level with all types of weapons without needing amiibo. The multiplayer is the same great Splatoon from the Wii U. Entirely new (and better balanced) supers, some fun new weapons, and a handful of new stages help add some life. Though the pool still feels limited as of now. My favorite new feature is the Salmon Run though. It's a horde mode where four inklings face off against a bunch of salmon, trying to collect golden eggs. There's no competition with your fellow player here. It's cooperate or die. You aren't allowed to choose your weapons, instead being given one of four preselected weapons randomly. Which works out better than it sounds. There's a nice variety of enemies in this mode. But some strange choices on Nintendo's part really hurts it. You can't play it whenever you want, instead forced into specific time slots that chance constantly. You can't even try it solo for fun. And, as of now, there only seem to be two maps available. I love the mode and it's my favorite part of the game. But without some changes and support for it, it's something that'll likely get boring fairly quickly. Overall, with Salmon Run not being fleshed out more and limited in terms of availability, the game does feel quite a bit like Splatoon 1.5 for all the good and bad that comes with. Hopefully we'll get more support for it as time goes on. If you're looking for a fun shooter and/or skipped out on Splatoon/the Wii U, I'd give this one a look at least.

Splatoon 2
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splatoon 2 is one of the funnest games to play on the Switch. Whether you play it single player or multiplayer, you will have a BLAST with this game. Fun characters and gameplay and a pretty cool back story. It is one of those games that holds up well and still gets played 2 years later. Hoping there will be a Splatoon 3 to continue the fun.

Good game worth buying
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is fun to play. Never played wii u version but this one is a blast. Downside of this game is it only have online multiplayer, no offline game for salmon run. And last you might get ban / blocked if you have bad internet connection which keeps disconnects your online game.

Great Game for any kids and FPS lovers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splatoon 2 is a very unique shooter in that you use ink instead of ammunition. The main goal of the game is to ink more turf than your opponents before the timer runs out. It is family friendly and involves a lot of team strategy and has a large variety of weapons to choose from.

Safe online gaming for my son
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a bit nervous about this game as it is played in an online community. There is no communication between players so there for there is no foul language that little kids do not need to hear. My son is constantly looking to level up, so he is not bored with this game.

Fantastic Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is fantastic. I find myself playing it whenever I have a few spare moments. The shorter match lengths keeps the pacing frantic and the action constant. Nintendo still has a lot of work to do regarding the chat function. Using your phone via a clunky wire setup is awful.

An amazing game brought down by QoL issues.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splatoon 2 is an amazing, addicting online 4 v 4 shooter. It's eaily one of the most refreshing online shooters I've played in years. The gameplay is unparalleled and the motion assisted aiming allows for quick, easy aiming and precision. The content right now, shortly after launch, is just a little light. It's not as bad as the first game in the series was at launch, but it's not as good as the first game was after all the updates. However with free updates already on their way and rolling out over the next year, I have no doubt that by the end of the year it'll be packed with content and fully worth the money you pay for it. I'd give the game an 8/10, which may seem like a low score considering the praise I have for the game, but the addicting and flawless gameplay is bogged down by some quality of life issues. Things like not being able to change weapons in the lobby, being forced to listen to the map selection every time you load up, map rotations including just two maps and being stuck with those every two hours, making no attempt to reconnect you after the slightest internet trouble, punishing your score (in some ways) even when a team member disconnected mid-match making it 3 v 4 . . . and many other things. It's surprising how many of the little things add up to really ruin the experience. I still absolutely love the game and I'd give the gameplay the highest recommendation I could possibly give it, but the game itself has its issues. It's definitely worth playing, but I can't bring myself to score it higher than an 8/10.

Better then the first
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's everything the original was but better. Nintendo has learned a lot and made significant changes. Almost all the special abilities from splatoon 1 have been replaced with new ones. The game now feels tighter and more team based with less emphasis on getting splats (kills). You'll do much better working together than trying to be a one man army. New modes like league battles let you team up with friends. Salmon run is horde mode co-op for rewards. There's an online app that shows the upcoming schedule for battles, shows your stats, and even let's you shop for gear online for your inkling. Voice chat is now an option (but Is unfortunately complex). It also has a single player campaign revolving around the disappearance of Callie from splatoon 1. Last but not least, at least two years of splatfests. This is easily one of the best games available for the switch. If you like multiplayer shooters and you're a Nintendo fan, this is as good as it gets.

One Player Game
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loved Splatoon 2, one of my friends recommended this game and I'm enjoying this a lot. It's very different from other shooting games because the objective is NOT to kill people, but to get the most territory for your team. I started out as level one while everyone was like level 70 which I thought was going to be an issue cause everyone seemed to have very highleveled equipment, but it all focused more on teamwork, so I was winning a lot of the matches for at least the one I focus on for territory (I learned the hard way that killing really does not mean anything) My biggest complaint is that there is no split screen. I saw this complaint a lot and I did buy this expecting no split screen. As I played it more, I was more perplexed on why there was no split screen since even Mario kart deluxe has a 2 player mode split screen online. I give it a 4 because I'm sure most parents want to play this with their kids and are expecting split screen and I don't see why they couldn't do it; however, other than that. The game was a lot of fun. Even the first player mode was a lot of fun, will be looking out to play the dlc for the game.

Buckets of fun!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.ahhh see what I did there? .... Anyway, this game is so much fun and addicting, the new added Salmon Runs are fun to do and give you the chance to earn more gear. The motion controls take a while to get used to, but once you get the hang you'll enjoy the game much more.

All about the multiplayer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The story mode is okay and rather repetitive. This game is all about the online multiplayer, which is addictive and an absolute blast to play. 4 on 4 games only take a few minutes to play each round. You can spend a few minutes or a few hours in a game session....your choice.

Really fun and addictive!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn't going to get this game at first but something changed my mind and I am really happy with this game. It has Single player, PVE and PVP modes. PVP is definitely the highlight of this game. Match matching is pretty fast and the server is very stable. Great game overall!

Great online experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for a fun multiplayer experience on the switch, I'd easily recommend this. I feel this ranks alongside Mario Kart and Smash as the best multiplayer games on the system. It's great for both kids and adults and is extremely unique.

Even more fun than the original!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Building upon the surprise success of the original, Splatoon 2 adds a high intensity co-op mode on top of a full single player adventure and unranked and ranked multiplayer modes. The upgrade to the Switch hardware is apparent in smoother motion and even more vibrant paint!

Great game and a nice improvement on the first
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very fun game and pretty friendly to the casual player. It's a nice evolution to the first game and they're still doing additional content updates. A word of warning that it does require the new Switch online service in order to play online multiplayer.

Must-have on Switch
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great variety of multiplayer options with frequently changing content - the game scales with you as you improve. This is my favorite multiplayer option on Switch! Controls are easy to learn and the design is fantastic.

Fun, but fleeting.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My favorite thing about the Splatoon games is their sense of style. The aesthetic of the world, the characters and the music are just so colorful and quirky. Unfortunately, the game leaves much to be desired and feels more like a "My First Shooter" experience, rather than a full-priced, $60 game. The aiming's not great (use motion controls for finesse, stick controls for a more traditional experience), many of the levels are small, there aren't a lot of modes, the shooting isn't solid, the online experience feels old-gen and there isn't a satisfying sense of progression. Also, the single player campaign is lackluster and the bosses for each stage are fairly simple. And not having split-screen 2-player play on a system that's all about multiplayer is odd; If you want to play with a friend or family member, better hope they have another Switch and a copy of Splatoon 2. All that said, there is something enjoyable about hopping in, laying down some ink and splatting fools, as is getting new accessories for your inkling. It's just not a very robust experience and fades quickly until the next online Splatfest or Salmon Run. As the title says: Fun, but fleeting.

Kids love it.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My daughter has been wanting this for a while and we finally got it for the kids. They both love it (boy 8, girl 5). Pretty easy to pick up for seasoned veteran or a newbie. The gyroscopic controls take a little getting used to, but you get the hang of it fairly quickly.

Still a fun game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Though I think Splatoon 2 doesn't offer very many new and revolutionary concepts from the first Splatoon, it keeps all of the fun that I first enjoyed. I still love the game and would encourage everyone to play, even if you played the first and are unsure. Happy hunting!
