Purchased this game for my niece and nephew. Both have stuck several hours into it and continue to enjoy it with their friends online. If you can get it on a sale, I would highly recommend for the kids.

Splatoon 2, just like Splatoon before it on Wii U, and a fun and totally positive multiplayer shooter. You will get more of your fun playing online with others, but unlike the first game, Splatoon 2 makes local multiplayer with others who own the game much easier. The game is also non-violent and mostly inoffensive, making it suitable for all ages as long as they are able to grasp the game's mechanics. It has a great sense of humor and ensures a fun time for every player. It makes it easy to learn and eases new players into the game through it's gradual progression system from the online mode as well as an offline single player mode complete with a story of battling evil octopus creatures meant to slowly introduce new players to the game's mechanics, but it is fun to play through even for those who already have a decent grasp on the game. This is one of the best games currently available on Nintendo Switch

If you have never played Splatoon on the Wii U and own a Switch, then you should definitely pick up Splatoon 2. It's a refreshing take on online shooting games that in my opinion have grown stale thanks to Call of Duty. Not good at shooters, no problem. The point of the game is not about how many times you take out your opponent. Instead it's about what team can cover the level with the most ink. The sequel also includes a new horde mode called Salmon Run which is addictive and a better single player mode than the first. The game is not perfect though. Nintendo still needs to improve it's online capabilities, especially since they will soon be charging for them. The game suffers from a low tick rate (just Google it) and you still cannot swap out gear and weapons once you are in the lobby. Also, there are no split screen modes at all. Other than that, the game is a blast to play and I highly recommend it.

Know going into this review that I've enjoyed the time I've put into the game so far. I'm about Level 8 online and made it through a few worlds of the single player levels. All that was extremely fun, enough to sway my opinion to four stars. What keeps this game from 5 stars in the asinine way Nintendo handles it's online modes. Only certain modes are available at random times rather than open all the time for no reason. I can't easily join with friends to play online; during the Mayo vs Ketchup Splatfest I tried joining with my only other friend who has the game at the moment and we couldn't play because we needed two more people. On top of that, the way Nintendo implemented voice chatting through a separate phone app just doesn't work out conviently as it only works in ONE and ONLY ONE specific mode with friends rather than letting you talk to anyone in any mode that happens to turn on voice chat. I'll enjoy the online experience for now, but when Nintendo launches the paid version of online this better be completely overhauled because I'm not going to pay for a service that doesn't work out easily. I'm going to say I'm not recommending this game to a friend YET. If Nintendo fixes the online since this is touted as an online game, then get the game. Until then, hold off and wait. That said, I've mostly just played Turf Wars and enjoyed just popping in and playing a few matches from time to time. I just wish I could actually coordinate with my teammates.

I was a big fan of Splatoon on the Wii U, and this updated version takes everything that was fun and great about the first one and makes it 10X more fun! I love jumping online to play a quick match when I'm on my lunch break at work or killing time in a waiting room.

I saw this on the Wii U a few years ago and thought nothing of it. Then my coworker told me to get it for the Switch and it is so much fun! I'm not that good but still fun. The Nintendo app lets you buy gear and you can pick it up when you're in game. Pretty cool.

Nintendo doesn't understand online. We all know it. The map rotation of only have 2 maps at a time for each hopper is unnecessary and discourages long play sessions. Locking Salmon Run to only certain times just flat out sucks. Playing with friends isn't really fully supported (not always on the same team, etc.) But it's a fun game to play. It would be a perfect game if Nintendo understood online.

Coming from Splatoon 1, this may feel like a remix, but things have never felt so fresh from a sequel. This game is all about online multiplayer, so be prepared to battle it out on different modes akin to capture the flag, king-of-the-hill, and deliver the payload.

This shooter is very unique. It uses ink guns wielded by squid humanoids to shoot paint at other players or the level itself. Good game for all ages especially children who want to play a multiplayer shooter

This is quite similar to the first Splatoon if you have played that. Some new weapons help mix things up and the addition of a coop Horde-like mode is great, but it's dumb that the mode is only available during certain hours. I was unable to play the mode for the first 8 days of owning the game since it didn't align with my schedule, which feels like a misstep for the biggest addition this game has.

I did not play the first Splatton but I wanted to grow my current library of Switch games and this did not disappoint! It's a great game both offline and online, the multiplayer online is where the fun is at but it also has a great story mode for you to follow.

I picked this up at the recommendation of a family member. I wasn't the biggest fan of Splatoon 1, but to my surprise I do really enjoy Splatoon 2 more. Everything just feels a bit more snappy compared to the first game. There are still a few things I'm not a fan of, like having to sit through the opening every time the game boots up, but once I'm in, the experience is just better to me overall.

It is a pretty addicting game, with plenty of customization and weapons to use. I guess my only really complaint is the lack of maps and modes tied to certain things like Ranked or League mode. Otherwise the game is a great experience and worth checking out =)

My kids love this game! Best Buy offered the best price on it too. Ordered online and it was ready for me it pick up. Just a warning, you do need the Nintendo Online Membership to fully play the game.

Definitely an improvement over the first Splatoon. The multiplayer is much improved, and the neat addition of being able to test all the Splatoon weapons. New maps are refreshing, and overall look and feel. This game is a must have in any Switch collection! :)

Overall this sequel feels like a major DLC upgrade to the first Splatoon and could've used more of a change in the game, but when you're a big fan of the series, like me, you really don't care. I highly recommend this game if you enjoyed the first Splatoon.

Overall the gameplay is great, but the multiplayer with friends is lacking and the game is held down by annoying schedules (i.e. no salmon run at certain times). Overall, the few flaws in the game don't affect the core gameplay experience, which is fantastic.

This is a colorful shooter that has many interesting modes and plays. The goal is not who gets the most kills, but who can complete the objectives such as ink the most terrain, or capture certain points. The co-op mode Salmon Run is unexpectedly fun as well.

I enjoyed the original game this is a great step up. Online modes are a lot of fun the story mode is pretty similar to the first game with wacky bosses this time around that are a little more challenging. I would definitely pick this up if you have a Switch.

best game ever, my 7 year old boy and I both have so much fun with this game we are fighting over who gets to play next (in a fun way of course) I so recommend this game! and look forward to our adventures with it
