    Good game but deceiving

I bought this because I was under the impression that Splatoon 2 had couch co-op and wanted a game that I could play with my son. Checked the back of the game and it says local co-op on it (yes it does say `players: 1`) but still confusing when it says local co-op on it and the internet had also led me to believe it was couch co-op. Was very disappointed when I got home and couldn't figure out how to let him play with me. Looked it up and found that it was indeed local co-op but local meant everyone who has a switch and the game can play together in the same room. To me that sounds more like a lan party (obviously wirelessly but the concept is the same) not a local co-op. The game is fun to play but got it mainly because I thought we could play together. I like splatoon, don't love it, but like it. I love Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Pikmin, and way more Nintendo ips but splatoon 2 is not up there on my list. If I wanted to play a shooter I'd rather play Destiny, but this is better for kids. If this had true couch co-op this game would be amazing. As it doesn't it's just so so.

Splatoon 2 is absolutely amazing! You move around a screen and splat paint on to opponents and race around a big area covering it with paint. It is a simple game and loads of fun. Like paint ball.

This game is addicting to play. Im a joy con in each hand player and I think it's the most fun to play with motion controls and a joycon in each hand. Such a great experience and I love this game.

A great game for those looking to take advantage of the Nintendo Switch's online functions. Compete in 8-player 4v4 Turf Wars, 4-player co-op in the form of Salmon Run (an addictive yet challenging boss rush) and share your thoughts with the Miiverse-like post feature. Tablet mode recommended for drawing. Splatoon 2 also includes a single player campaign. It was, initially, a factor in my purchase, seeing as I am not the biggest fan of online multiplayer. I wanted a single player experience to fall back on between other game modes. I can't speak for those that owned the first game in the series, but if you own a Nintendo Switch and love competitive multiplayer, this one's a solid choice.

I never played Splatoon, but heard it was fantastic. Because of that, I picked up Splatoon 2 for the Switch and have really enjoyed its campaign. It's a clever and unique shooter that I love jumping into. A star detracted for the game's pathetic voice chat implementation (you have to use a smartphone app).

At first I was a little nervous about this title, didn't know if I would enjoy it but it looked fun. Since then I can't put it down, reminds me a little of a plat former mixed with shooter elements.

Like its predecessor, Splatoon 2‘s emphasis on using vibrant, ink-based weapons to splatter both enemies and the ground alike in your team color to control territory makes it a distinctive kind of visually rewarding fun. Controlling the ground is more than just a way of keeping score, though – you’re far more mobile in your own territory, creating lots of opportunity for strategies around creating a highway to an objective and cutting off your opponents, and also setting up areas to submerge into the ink and replenish your ammo. The key to victory on the eight distinct and symmetrical maps currently in rotation often lies in being aware of terrain, ink management, and the opposition’s plans.

Great friendly shooter for the family and fun campaign game for the kids. More kid oriented compared to other shooters, still fun for adults too.

The first Splatoon brought a FRESH take on the shooter genre. This one continues the revolution. Maybe the best part of the game is the smooth learning curve and short bursts of play.

I loved the first Splatoon, and the sequel only seeks to improve and add even more color and style to an already colorful and stylish game. Easily my favorite shooter in recent memory.

I played a TON of Splatoon 1, and even bought the Smash-Splat WiiU bundle because it was an approachable shooter for me (I haven't had too much luck in the past with them). Having a sequel that improves on the base, changes some of the specials, and adds a horde mode with a twist (to encourage more than just survival) really made it a great purchase I've done twice (and will be a third for another friend who enjoyed what he saw). If you're still torn on the fact most of the gameplay is online-based, look for when there are online weekend demos available and give it a shot. It might change your mind, or might not. There is a skill curve, but that too dissolves with time and effort.

It has its improvements from the first game, but it's basically the first game you can play anywhere. The horde mode is a good touch but I wish you could play that whenever and not on select days.

I have fun with it BUT

So let me start with, the game is fun. It has always been fun since splatoon 1 but there are just a few issues I have. 1. The game is more splatoon deluxe than splatoon 2 and it bothers me that it's $60. Mariokart 8 deluxe at that price bothers me too. 2. Turf war is fun, 3 min battles are great, short, sweet but playing with friends is just a bad process. You have a online friends option but they have to wait until a spot opens up and you may not be on the same team. And then there's the horrible switch app which is really bad. You can't even get into an online match against other people with it...it's for private matches only!! Salmon run is also limited to specific times. Yes the app isn't a part of the game but it is a part of the splatoon experience and it hurts it. I'll enjoy the single player and turf war but that is about it.

It's really nice and subtle for a competitive game. Not as seat edging as others. Especially with the motion controlling, it really keeps things focused with easy maneuvering to play.
