Fun for all ages
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is terrific for anyone. It is simple enough for you children to be able to play but it can be intense enough for adults to enjoy depending on what mode you play. My favorite switch game.

Great Game with Poor Voice Chat Implementation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Definite improvement on the first game. Great to be able to take it on the go. If you want to play and chat with your friends, setup is tedious and requires a mobile phone. Phone app needs some updates as usage doesn't flow well from an end user experience. Overall, if you loved the first, you'll love this version.

Superb design w/superior peformance. impressive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nintendo Switch is a superb designed console from top to bottom. The Switch is a hybrid console, meaning it can be played on a TV at home or on the go as a handheld. The Joy-Con controllers impressive design make the Switch a veritable Transformer keep them attached to the sides in tablet mode, slide them off and prop up the screen on a table to play one- or two-player games, or dock the Switch in its included charging cradle to play on your big-screen TV. The Switch's primary focus of being a practical home-and-on-the-go console, the Switch definitely nails it. It is perfect for my train commute to work, and it works well on a plane, too. I will be your go-to device.

So toon! Much splat!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you dislike the monotonous goal of netting the most kills and would rather enjoy a fresh spin on the shooter genre, check out Splatoon 2. It's pretty much a complete clone (with some improvements) of the original Splatoon. Also looks phantasmagorical on my new 55" Samsung KU6290 4K UHD HDR Ultra TV... (Disclaimer: I've never owned better than 720p, so I'm just experiencing 1080p for the very first time. Now you're probably thinking: 'This has just discredited the opinion of this guy in my book and therefore his review is useless. Who in their right mind is only just now getting to 1080p in 2017?! GET BACK UNDER YOUR ROCK!' That's fine. I have my TV now. I'm happy to be back under my rock. Carry on.)

A Great game with hope for longevity
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splatoon 2 fulfills its promise of being a incredibly fun multiplayer game. It seems like Nintendo has a winning franchise on their hands, but still fall victim to some of he pitfalls that Nintendo is famous for, such as not providing a way put you and your friends in a party together online. (You can join a friend, but there is a 50/50 chance you'll be on the opposing team.) This coupled with a few other oversights (which they will hopefully correct in the near future) can't keep this game from being fun. It's gameplay is tuned just right and everything feels incredibly satisfying. Customizing your character is a big part of the fun, and they seem to be pumping out enough outfits to keep us coming back. The writing in Splatoon 2 is also a great mixture of tongue-in-cheek humor and fun, cheesy jokes. I would also be remiss if I didn't mention the game's poignant aesthetic. They never stray from the bright, edgy, but not over-the-top, style. bottom line- even if you were turned off by the seemingly younger crowd look of the first one, give this game a chance. It's a blast.

Glad I purchased this!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like many people, I never purchased a Wii U and thus never played the first Splatoon. I do however remember when it came out and also thinking that it was a kiddie game. While this is not a typical shooter with blood and violence, it's not necessarily a kid game. While kids could enjoy this game, it is obviously played by a lot of adults. The multiplayer can be challenging, the main game mode (Turf War), is not all about getting Kills (Splats). The main objective is to coat as much of the floor with your color of paint. This is good because even if you aren't very good at getting kills (Splats), you can still contribute greatly to your team, This game is a great addition to my Switch Collection.

NINTENDO SWITCH IS AWESOME!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hours and hours of fun coating walls and splatting enemies. Online play is fun, you can team up with a friend and destroy others. Many weapons to choose from and great for beginners.

Good game but deceiving
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this because I was under the impression that Splatoon 2 had couch co-op and wanted a game that I could play with my son. Checked the back of the game and it says local co-op on it (yes it does say `players: 1`) but still confusing when it says local co-op on it and the internet had also led me to believe it was couch co-op. Was very disappointed when I got home and couldn't figure out how to let him play with me. Looked it up and found that it was indeed local co-op but local meant everyone who has a switch and the game can play together in the same room. To me that sounds more like a lan party (obviously wirelessly but the concept is the same) not a local co-op. The game is fun to play but got it mainly because I thought we could play together. I like splatoon, don't love it, but like it. I love Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Pikmin, and way more Nintendo ips but splatoon 2 is not up there on my list. If I wanted to play a shooter I'd rather play Destiny, but this is better for kids. If this had true couch co-op this game would be amazing. As it doesn't it's just so so.

Fun game for kids and adults!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fun first person shooter type game without the violence of weapons and blood. Instead the idea is to paint everything to win! Challenging levels in story mode with fun on-line competition!

Awesome game!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like its predecessor, Splatoon 2‘s emphasis on using vibrant, ink-based weapons to splatter both enemies and the ground alike in your team color to control territory makes it a distinctive kind of visually rewarding fun. Controlling the ground is more than just a way of keeping score, though – you’re far more mobile in your own territory, creating lots of opportunity for strategies around creating a highway to an objective and cutting off your opponents, and also setting up areas to submerge into the ink and replenish your ammo. The key to victory on the eight distinct and symmetrical maps currently in rotation often lies in being aware of terrain, ink management, and the opposition’s plans.

My Boys Love It
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My sons have been fans of the original Splatoon. It is the one game my wife loves watching them play, but I had no idea there was a sequel until my son said he wanted to get it. I expected the same Splatoon as before, and there is enough of the original to make it familiar to a fan. But they've ratcheted up the challenges so it had plenty of challenges that a new game should have. A sequel should always take you to new levels and challenged even the best players of the original and Splatoon 2 doesn't disappoint. In fact now my wife almost forces my one son to play it every day...when has that ever happened that a parent would want their child to play? Its amazing that way.

Online-Offline fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I played a TON of Splatoon 1, and even bought the Smash-Splat WiiU bundle because it was an approachable shooter for me (I haven't had too much luck in the past with them). Having a sequel that improves on the base, changes some of the specials, and adds a horde mode with a twist (to encourage more than just survival) really made it a great purchase I've done twice (and will be a third for another friend who enjoyed what he saw). If you're still torn on the fact most of the gameplay is online-based, look for when there are online weekend demos available and give it a shot. It might change your mind, or might not. There is a skill curve, but that too dissolves with time and effort.

Fun Update
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splatoon (and now Splatoon 2) are surprising fun to play, more so than you would initially think. And there's even an expansion for the game that extends the single player experience.

Fun game for the whole family
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I strongly recommend using the Pro Controller with this game. The controls are a little confusing with the Joy Cons. Otherwise, it is a great game for solo players or, especially, multiplayers.

Just Ok.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Game gets boring after a few days. The premise is the same as the first game. The idea is to cover as much surface with paint. You are not paired up by skill level so if you are new, you are going to be matched against players who have all the upgrades. Makes it boring, since you are losing every time.

Fills the multiplayer shooter void on the Switch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn't too excited about Splatoon 2 before it came out, as I hadn't played much of the original. While Splatoon 2 is almost a carbon copy of the first game as far as multiplayer goes, I feel like the Switch as a platform is a much better fit for this game. I haven't played much of the singleplayer yet, but the competitive and co-op multiplayer modes I've played have been incredibly addictive. There are some weird oversights with the multiplayer though. You can't join Standard battles with friends as a group, so the chances of you being on the same team as your friends are about 50/50. If you do want to play with your friends in a group, you have to do so alone in a private or league battle. Additionally, if you want to change which weapon or equipment you're using between matches, you have to quit out of your current match. This makes trying new weapons very difficult. That said, I've still had a lot of fun in this game, and those design oversights haven't been enough to detract from the experience, so I've only docked one star.

Nintendo does it again
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When this game first came out I was honestly uninterested, it just looked like a bad attempt at a Shooter and I did not see the appeal. Once I finally have it a try my opinion changed drastically. It has something for everyone, if you are someone who doesn’t necessarily want to just run and gun playing the objective is just as important as any kill counter. But if you are someone who just likes to go against other players it’s also highly enjoyable. The only thing I wish was a little different is the progression system can be very slow at times and it feels like you are not really making a lot of headway in leveiling.
