Awesome Game, Almost as good as First
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was shocked about how much I enjoyed Splatoon 1. I typically hate shooters, but after playing the testfire. I enjoyed the difference of the game and I bought #1 on launch day and I played it almost exclusively for 2 years with a mix of Mario Maker on the Wii U. So needless to say I was looking forward to #2 coming out on the Switch, The ONLY reason I even ordered a switch on launch just to play the testfire. I ended up preordering #2 with all the amiibos and buying #2 on launch also. #2 is great, I loved the Single Player (I think the final battle of #1 was better, but 2 was more creative) I love the turf war and the Splatfests too. (missed those near the end of #1's cycle) But what I have really found to be fun/frustrating is the Salmon Run. It is quickly addicting and if you play long enough (1400 points) you get 2 super bonuses and can quickly add up your points, food tickets, Gear chunks, etc. I have even enjoyed the Nintendo Website Splatnet App too. I talked alot about Splatoon 1 for the past 2 years, I have already started talking about Splatoon 2. LOVE this game and series so far. Can't wait for the updates to kick in and see what is to come.

Fun game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As one that never owned a Wii U or played the first splatoon game didn’t know what to expect. The game is full of content which includes a single player story, a online multiplayer horde mode called salmon run which is super fun and can challenging at the same time and of course non-ranked and ranked competitive online multiplayer.

Challenging but fun!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I played the original Splatoon for Wii U just once or twice at launch before getting bored but decided to give Splatoon 2 a try anyways. I've probably sunk close to 100 hours into the game, and although I don't typically play a lot of "shooter" games, have been able to progress fairly well. As the bulk of the game hinges on online player vs player interaction, one of the nice things is that the goal isn't just killing other players -- it's ultimately about who can "tag" the most ground with paint. This means there are opportunities for different types of players to enjoy the game, despite it being largely PvP. A good team needs players who primarily tag the ground, as well as players who primarily attack the other team. The splat rollers are a good intro weapon for anyone (like I was) not comfortable with aiming and shooting, and you eventually will learn to branch out into other weapons overtime. I've put a good chunk of time into this game and although I've moved onto other things currently, I'm sure I will be back from time to time. Definitely was worth the purchase, and I don't have any major complaints about the game.

Fantastic gameplay wrapped in a sad shell
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I won't focus on the gameplay of Splatoon 2 - it's amazing. Many people have already played it or know about it from other reviews. I just wanted to capture the absolute annoyance that is the rest of the game. Salmon Run: This is the four player vs AI co-op mode, and it can only be played on certain days. Yep, if you're a busy or working adult, your one day off might not line up with the day this mode is available. It's a horrible design decision. The hub: Japanese games tend to have this forced social hub that would have been better served as a menu. The loading screens are many and could be completely avoided without the hub. Though I do like the posts to view, perhaps those could be viewed in other manners. Announcers: They told us Callie and Marie were gone. "YES!" everyone shouted. But they were replaced by two other announcers. They are cute, I like them. But holy - please stop making it mandatory to sit through so much unnecessary dialogue. I will see when I queue up what the maps are. Map: There used to be a map on the gamepad on the first game, now you have to cover your entire screen to see the map. It's not easy to pull off looking at it to see where enemies are without getting surprise splatted. I really wish this game had a minimap. Lobby: Being unable to leave the lobby or change weapons while in the lobby is HORRIBLE. Seriously. People claim that that is because the game matches you up with a varied weapon team, but that can't possibly be true when I get games with 3 rollers 1 brush vs a full team of .96 Gal. Networking: The game runs at a tick rate of 16 hz. The game has interpolation problems. The matchmaking faces you against people from around the world. Just all of these things combined are unpleasant. See all these complaints? The gameplay itself is tremendous. I can't say enough good things about it. But these tiny annoyances really add up to make the entire experience...less pleasant.

A Spectacular Multi-Player Experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me just say that I have had tons of fun with Splatoon 2, probably even more so than the first game. While this game isn't too different from the first game, it takes the things that worked and refines them. This game is decent as a single player experience, but absolutely fantastic (splatastic) as a multi-player one. Since Zelda, there hasn't been much on the Switch except Mario Kart, and ARMS, but Splatoon 2 is the first great multi-player experience for the console.

So much fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm new to Splatoon - didn't play the first one - and I'm so happy I got this game. I wish the reviews for games had a "fun" score. I get that this is reviewing around 8-9, but the "fun" factor is a 10. This game is a blast. The motion controls are a little odd, but they work once you get the hang of them. I love this game!

Fun game with some Nintendo Quirks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you liked splatoon you will like this sequel. The game is a lot of fun and the single player campaign is interesting and enjoyable. My only qualm with the game is that Ranked only has one match type at a time and the maps stay the same for hours before switching. If you want to jump in for an hour or two you will be playing the exact same thing the whole time. I like variety. As well, Salmon run is not always allowed. Only during certain times right now. But overall, a great game.

WoomyWoomyWoomy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am still a newb since I don't fully understand where "Woomy" comes from, but since it is part of the vernacular I have to showcase it. I was a bit put off from the cartoon style of art, but it quickly won me over with the fact that the gameplay is so revolutionary. It is a fresh take on the shooting genre of games. Depending on your perspective this may warrant taking off a star (I personally believe every Switch owner should have this game in their library), but it does not include a local multiplayer mode. It does have an online component so multiple Switch owners with the game and console can play together, but I can see the fact of non-local play disappointing some people. I have also heard mentions of there being some lag, but I have not noticed that problem. Granted that I bought a Nintendo Switch certified USB-Ethernet adapter, so I rarely play over a wireless connection anymore. Super great game to play with online friends and family, but has enough to warrant serious competitive and solo play. I'd recommend buying at the $45-$55 range, but worth the full $60.

Entertaining FPS from Nintendo
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I missed Splatoon 1 for Wii U and wasn't convinced it was going to be something I would like. The game is overall a fun, colorful game with lots of replay value. The single player missions are beefy enough to play through and feel like the game is of value but the real meat and potatoes is the online multi-player.

An improvement on an already great game.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a huge fan of the original Splatoon, and am happy to say that I find this game to be as good or better in almost every aspect. The only thing that I miss is the convenience of having the mini map on the Wii U gamepad, but that's more than made up for by the convenience of being able to take this game on the go!

Love this game!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A lot of fun. Like paintball without the mess and pain. Run around splashing your teams color all over the board. Change your outfits to give you power ups and a bunch of painting tools/weapons to choose from. You can even team up to play your friends online.

Fun switch game a must have
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a must have for switch owners. The multiplayer is fun. There is a very engaging single player campaign that will introduce the player to the various controls and power ups. Nintendo may not have the most powerful hardware but the games are engaging and very fun. Would recommend this to anyone with a switch.

Good 1st party Nintendo Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splatoon 2 is definitely better than the first game (attributed to a better console as well), that has good competitive multiplayer, extensive maps, and allows for additional surprise items if Nintendo App is used on Android or iPhone. It is not necessary to play multiplayer since it has a great single player mode.

Inktastic!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splatoon 2 takes and already great wii u title and makes it even better. The motion controls are smoother. The online servers are better. The graphics have improved. The single player isn't too much different but still very enjoyable. Salmon run is a fantastic mini game. Splatoon 2 is a must have for Switch owners.

A follow up to a great Nintendo shooter!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first Splatoon game on the Wii U was a wonderful game that was accessible to both children as well as adults. It offered a fresh take on the shooter genre which just oozed Nintendo quality. The newest game in this series continues that legacy. It is a fun shooter that anyone can pickup and enjoy. It is also a breath of fresh air from all the hyper realistic and often more of the same looking gritty worlds of Call of Duty and Battlefield. The game play is fun, fast, and addictive. While you are able to take out opponents by splatting them with a variety of paint based weapons, winning games is based on having a higher percentage of the maps covered in your team's color than the opponents. In addition, there is a variety of gear available in the game that allows you to customize your character stats as well as appearance. Be stylish while playing! Also, don't forget about the Splatoon amiibo that provides unique gear and the ability to save loadouts onto them. If you have a Nintendo Switch, this is definitely a must own game to add to your library!

Not bad but overpriced for what you get
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never had the original Splatoon, but I had hoped this would allow us to use multiple controllers and play multiplayer on our system. You can't, so that's a bit of a downer. I also find the controls to sometimes be buggy or flakey, and just not very responsive, compared to say Mario Kart or the Zelda BOTW game, where I never had any issues with controls. Graphics are well done though, and let's face it, who wouldn't like changing to a squid and swimming through a thin layer of paint? It's a unique way to get around and adds another level to the puzzle bits of the game since sometimes that's the only way, and for people like me who never played the first, it's not the first thing you think of when trying to figure out how to get from A to B. Not much here for the single player person though who doesn't want to deal with all the kids online, but would rather play a local solo campaign. This game would've rocked if it had two player single console ability like Halo and such. It's just disappointing considering how much there is to do in Zelda and how much time you can play, and for the same price, there's this, with a fraction of the actual content. But most people are buying it for their online battles, so they will get far more use and enjoyment out of their dollars than I will with this game.

Awesome shooter with a cool twist
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game has been fun since day 1. The online gameplay pretty much makes the game. Once Nintendo starts charging for it, idk how I will feel about it. The story mode is really just training for the online play. The weapons keep it fresh, and they add content all the time. My only gripe is with the controls. It uses motion controls to aim and it can get really confusing. With a few hrs logged in, it's really fun and can make anyone competitive!

Great follow up to the first.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splatoon 2 is a great sequel to an awesome game! While yes is may have its short comings, but for what it lacks it makes up in pure fun. Beautiful colors and just a blast to play! Many hours of replay time to enjoy for the kids and friends alike. It's like paintball wars taken to the next level!

Great multiplayer game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Im not a big MP fan but I still enjoyed this a lot. So far its my second most played switch game. Never played the first one either. Lots of weapons to unlock, and new gear to get. The modes are limited, but still fun. The rotation of maps keeps it feeling fresh even if there aren't that many.

Same as the first but better!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splatoon is a hard game to get into with it's motion controls and unique way to control the play area. The first game (on the Wii U) still ended up being a blast but the single player campaign was a bit lacking. Splatoon 2 for the Switch improves on the first game but adding a better developed single player experience, local co-op, and portability! It will be interesting to see how the servers hold up when Nintendo Online goes live next year.
