    It's a REALLY good game

This game is phenomenal. I never played the first Splatoon, but I was greatly surprised by how much I have enjoyed Splatoon 2. I played both Global Testfire events, so I was acquainted a fair amount with Turf War - it's iconic mode that those familiar with the series will be acquainted with; However, there's much more than that brimming on the service. There's a single player mode that has 5 overworld's with a handful or so of levels in each. There's Ranked, League, and Horde Mode (called Salmon Run here) along with various maps and types of gameplay in each. It's thoroughly rewarding, even for those who aren't the best at FPS type games (don't worry parents, this isn't blood and guts, it's essentially a paintball variant with ink in place of paint). The main faults I see with this title are: 1) The lack of being able to play Salmon Run when you want to, as opposed to the arbitrary time restrictions on the mode 2) The lack of voice communication being a viable option, specifically for team play (don't even suggest the workaround with the crazy monstrosity Hori and other companies have suggested) 3) Quality of life details are sketchy at best here. Not being able to leave a lobby once joined without a penalty is such a joke. Furthermore, not being able to change your loadoat in-between games while in a lobby is hilariously backwards. Sure, you can leave the lobby and go back to do it in the screen before, but then you have to restart the whole process of getting a game going & waiting over again. So that's that -- one of the first big exclusives by Nintendo that make the Switch worth buying. If you had any doubt before, yet somehow have come across Switch consoles available in your region now, pick up both and have a blast. You won't regret it!

Dont buy into nintendo's aweful online and aweful sequel. The maps are worse than the original game. No variety at all. The map rotation system is laughable. The campaign mode is trash. You can't even team up properly in this game. Most times you're on different teams. They make you jump through hoops a fire to be able to team up in Competetive mode. You are better off saving your $ and sticking with or getting into Overwatch. Overwatch: Thr Greatest Multiplayer Game in the Universe man has ever known of all time in history of the known existsnce.

The menus are God awful, navigating the game is not fun. It is not 2 player local Co op even though it says it is. (you need multiple switches for local Co op) overall a giant disappointment.

Have to pay for a subscription to unlock more play. Not a fan of games that force online purchases after you already paid for them.

The first one was really fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it..you’d think the sequel would be better...wrong. In order to play multiplayer, you have to have a clan that are your friends on the console. Meaning, you can’t just simply select join a match, it doesn’t work that way anymore. Why nintendo decided to do this is beyond me, and just plain dumb. Meanwhile the gameplay is exactly the same, nothing new was added just defferent backgrounds to look at. Very boring, and frustrating game.

This game looks like a lot of fun but it's not very interesting for a single player. Kinda just run around trying to figure out what's going on the whole time.

This game lacks the local coop function of the original. Basically forcing you to play via two different switches or online.

If you want to play a mediocre and bland shooter, spaloon 2 I'd for you. If you want to play a REAL game, play battlefield 1.

So I didn't pick this game up on day one, nor did I play the first Splatoon on WiiU because I didn't have one. I thought this was going to be another typical online multiplayer like Call of Duty and Fortnite. But boy was I wrong. This game keeps you going. Although I haven't leveled up to the point where I can play ranked, the objective for most multiplayer games is simple: cover the entire map with as much of YOUR ink as possible, hence the name of the regular game mode: Turf War. Killing your opponents is only necessary when they get in the way of your objective, rather than it being the main one. There isn't a point where the game isn't fun; it's fast-paced goodness. Matchmaking is also a plus, as you can easily get paired up with players pretty quickly. The only downside I would have is the lack of pure voice-chat. It really does suck to have voice-chat relegated to the Nintendo Switch phone app, but hopefully that gets fixed with the upcoming Online service. The single-player campaign, which is basically another con but minor, is ok, but it's basically a tutorial to the multiplayer. If you want more of a challenge, the Octo Expansion DLC just came out if you want to purchase it, but I would recommend doing so after beating the campaign and playing a few multiplayer matches. Overall, for those that haven't gotten Splatoon 2 yet, I would definitely recommend getting it. It's never too late to get it; Nintendo is still supporting the game with frequent updates and monthly Splatfests. Whether you win or lose a game of Turf War, especially when you start out on level 1, you'll feel more rewarded than playing a game of Fortnite or Call of Duty.
