Great game for the WiiU. If you have a WiiU, you should give this a try. Great twist on the shooter concept. THe only potential drawback for some people is that this is primarily a game to play online and there isn't much of a single-player experience.

Nintendo has done it again with they're new game splatoon. The campaign is good but the multi player is were the fun really is. In 3mins take control of the turf by laying your ink everywhere to see who's team can win the round. Very fun and addictive.

This is a shooter for the rest of us. I'm not a big fan of competitive FPS, and that's what makes this game shine. You always feel like you're making a contribution to the team even if you're not very good. It takes the frustration out of these kind of games, and squid mode adds a whole new level of strategy to this kind of game. Fun game anyone can enjoy.

The Wii U is a secondary console for me that doesn't get as much use as say the X1, PS4, or PC, but it has its share of fun games. Splatoon is no different in this regard. It is great for periodic pick up and play, and just about any skill level can enjoy the game. Feel like just supporting the team and covering the floors and walls with ink? Go for it. Want to go on the attack and seek out the enemy? You can do that as well. While the main game is multiplayer based there is a small single player component that helps you get a hang of the controls and basics to the game. Also, Nintendo has been adding free updates and content to the game which should help with longevity. If you're looking for a fun online "shooter" that isn't filled with a bunch of try hards, look no further than this colorful gem. Nintendo has a hit on their hands with this one.

Purchased this game for my 8 yr old for his birthday. He'd been talking about this game all summer. I have to say the graphics are so appealing mainly because it's so colorful. Pricey, but it seems that all of these games are about the same price.

To say this game is a blast is to sell it short. Running around the world and painting it with ink is more fun and crazy than it sounds on the surface. The controls take some getting used to, but once you have that down, you are off and running.

Nintendo, you have done it again. This is full of fun and very addicting. If you think about buying the amiibos will take a huge affect on the game, it really won't. Love to play to with my friends and have a great time being a kid and a squid!

My child got this game for Christmas and loves it. She always wants to play this one game over the others. I have two grandsons that caint wait to get home from school to play. I use it as a bargaining tool to get their homework and chores done. My child will even get up early for school so she can play for a little bit before getting dressed.

Fun. That is the best way to describe this unique game. It takes a elements of a innovative Nintendo game and blends them with an online shooter. It is very addictive and the start of a brand new franchise you will be seeing for years to come.

This is pretty much the game that helped me dust off my Wii U, ha ha! Just be sure that whoever you're buying this for is that the majority of this game is online multiplayer. That's not to say that there isn't single-player content; it's just underwhelming in that part of the game. Again, multiplayer is where the game shines and thankfully, Wii U multiplayer is free to use, unlike competitors where you have to pay a subscription to play with friends and others. I've played enough to join ranked matches and it's a lot of fun! The drawback for me is that you HAVE to use the Wii U gamepad to play online, which, in my opinion, just gets a little irritating to use, considering where the analog sticks are placed and needing to use the touchpad to jump to where your teammates are placed. It doesn't take away from the fun, but I do wish Nintendo considered matchmaking better with more maps each time I log in, since regular battles only have 2 levels to play through until they're switched out again. This leads to playing the same level more than once in a row at times. Again, this doesn't take away from the fun, but if you want to dust off the Wii U you have at home like myself, it's worth picking up!

This game is easy to play for any age, yet has deep strategy and content that will keep seasoned gamer coming back daily. This game is Nintendo, take the shooter genre, turn it on it's head and make a ridiculously fun game filled with color.

Great all around. This lets you play anyway you want. Help the team by covering the area, and for those that like to attack the opposition there is a place for you. Fun for all ages.

For people too overwhelmed by Call of Duty or Battlefield players, Splatoon is the perfect choice. The goal of each game is achievable by any skill level and all players, as long as they're covering the world in ink, have a fighting chance.

Must have for Wii U owners! Great intro game for new Wii U owners, just buy the bundle! Looks of style and content. Leveling up the inklings is very fun! Playing with friends and family online is a nice touch! Can't wait for the future DLC.

This game is absolutely amazing!! This is one of the best games of the year and one of my favorites! They are adding new things to the game all the time and it is so much fun to play all the different stages and modes. I love it so much!

This game is fantastic! You think that voice chat would be the worst thing ever, but this game overcomes that and is so great! It flows and feels amazing! Love the game and definitely recommend if you like shooters. Great online shooter!

This is a series that has potential. The gameplay is addictive and it feels different enough from the other multiplayer shooters available. The single player is a fun diversion that serves as a decent training ground for the online arenas. Only issues are the matchmaking can sometimes take a while and some of the weapons feel unbalanced.

Was skeptical at first about this game but just after a few hours, its one of my favorites for Wii U. Was surprised to even get all the August update content for free! Local coop is restricted but you will still have a blast online.

This game is phenomenal. It's basically the Mario Kart or Smash Bros. of shooters. It's very light-hearted, fast paced, and overall just really fun to play. It's a very refreshing game when compared to Call of Duty, Battlefield, etc.

Fast paced game that allows younger players to enjoy the concepts of a modern shooter without the violence. Turf War is the main mode, where the winning team must cover the most ground with paint to be victorious. Rounds are well paced at 3 minutes each to keep the game moving. the graphics are sharp and colorful and everything moves at a smooth 60 frames per second during gameplay, although things tend to chug a bit in the opening hub area. The only negatives about the game are the lack of ability to change classes during a match, and currently the lack of maps and modes. Nintendo plans to release free updates throughout the summer to boost the number of maps and modes. Hopefully an update will address the class issues. Overall a new franchise from Nintendo that feels fresh and fun, recommended.
