My son loves this game He is 8. With all of shooting games out there, whether on consoles or arcades, it is nice to get something that allows younger kids the ability to play this type of genre. You pretty much have to cover the most area with ink. Yes, you can shoot the ink at other people you play against. I don't see any "killing" as seen in other shooters. They get splattered and have to respawn. There is no unfiltered chat which is nice to keep the profanity out of the game. Some people may look away due to it being a shooter, but there is an inherent hand/eye coordination that must be used to aim/move/shoot all at once. Don't really see any problem for an 8 year old.

all i can tell you is that my son plays this game a lot, it is his favorite Wii U game. The game play and graphics are pretty awesome also.

This game has hours upon hours of entertainment. Great game for all ages. You are a hybrid kid/squid and you complete in paintball matches.

Really fun game, but you have to have a pro controller for multiplayer, you can't use a wiimote. This info is on the box but I didn't hear anything about it before purchasing so I didn't know. Still a fun game, just know you need the other controller if you want to do multiplayer.

Splatoon is a fun game with story mode and Vs. mode. I wish you could local play more than two players but you can only do 2 players. One player uses the TV and the other uses the Gamepad.

The game itself has a relatively simple story line and a fun straight forward game style. The game is a bit challenging for younger players as the control scheme to look up and down is based on your wii u controller orientation, but after a little practice it gets a lot easier.

All I can say is that this game is fantastic. It is very refreshing to play something new where both the single player and multiplayer immerse you for hours of fun. Must buy! Go get it!

Got this for my 8 year old son. It's a pretty fun game. Takes a bit to get used to the controls but has a tutorial session where you can get more familiar with them. A different concept than other games and definitely makes the little guy think. Happy with the purchase

Picked this one up for my nephews but I must say I'm enjoying it as well. Control takes a little getting used to and there needs to be more maps, but overall it's a fun game. Really wish it included a decent local multiplayer mode as playing as a group together would be fun.

Splatoon is an incredibly fresh take on the shooter genre and the best original Nintendo franchise in years. Addicting gameplay, solid online multiplayer, and a short but fun campaign.

This is a great competitive shooter game that is fun for everyone. I think is is fun for young new players to the more series fps players. And nintendo keeps releasing content for it!

This game is epic!!! The graphics are unbelievable and the game play is tremendous. My son and I have hours of fun playing this game. We live ride ability to customize the characters.

This is a great game just a lot of fun to play, has a great art style and look to it, and its just easy to pick it up and play a handful of matches every night. Really great game.

This game is a lot of fun with great mechanics. Shooters are fun games, but my kids can't play violet shooters. This is a fun way to have a blast, while being fun for adults as well.

It's refreshing to see Nintendo coming out with a new release that's not tied to any of the normal characters ( with the exception of Blooper) It was also a great marketing move to let users try the game in live trial before the release date. The gameplay is fast and has the feeling of super Mario galaxy in several places. My 12-year-old was able to finish story mode in a couple days. Continues to play the online competitions which is why we really bought the game. We have already seen some DLC come in so that's nice that they're updating it after it's been released. The Amiibos that you can purchase separately or also a nice addition to the game

This game is kind of like virtual paintball, except that the objective is to splatter the arena in paint. Your character is customizable, several weapons to unlock, and the action is short and frenzied. My main gripe is the two map rotation thing Nintendo has going on.

A lot of hectic and chaotic fun in Splatoon. This is a must own game if you have a Wii U. Very addictive and good for all level of gamers, beginner or hardcore. Highly recommended.
