This is a very fun game, even if you're not into shooters. Online play is smooth with little to no lag most of the time. Definitely a must have if you own a WiiU!

Splatoon is a blast to play and has continued to add content weekly since launch. The core gameplay is excellent and there is an enormous amount of replay value.

We stopped to pickup this game that people were boasting "the best first person shooter since 007" and when flipping to the back realized we had to purchase a classic controller to be able to play together. Fair enough. We dropped 50 bucks on a pro controller and took them home. Local Multiplayer: If I would have known the local multiplayer was going to be this bad I would have never purchased the pro controller. First of all, you are given a few different prebuilt equipment sets which I'm sure is to make the match even and fair but makes all the work of buying equipment useless here. The only option you get for modes is balloon popping, which gets terribly boring after a couple plays. The worst part about the whole thing is that there is no split screen. One person plays on the tv and one person plays on the game pad. No, you can't change that in the options. It hurts me that I have to try to focus on a tiny screen while my significant other gets an entire 60in flatscreen to himself. Overall the 1v1 felt like an afterthought and if you have some friends over to play, you might as well plug in the 64 and pull out 007. You won't be all playing splatoon together. Single Player Campaign: You will need to do this to unlock some weapons and equipment. It's pretty short and you do not get to pick your main weapon. I don't have a ton to say about this because I don't like the weapon, so I make my husband play it to unlock the content. Multiplayer This is pretty much what the entire focus was built around so I hope you have Internet. My first few games ended up with me crashing out before the game started. I have pretty stable internet and this was a few days after release. I gave up that night and tried again the next day. I was able to play and while the gameplay is fun, there are no social features. You have the option for a match, or a match against friends, but you have no way to make new friends. There's absolutely no chat at all, not even in the lobby. No way to add someone you have been playing with for hours as a friend, and when the game kicks you out in 4 hours for a game update, no way to go back and play with that person. This is a big deal for me. If you are going to focus a game on online mass multiplayer there needs to be some way to communicate. I understand that it's Nintendo and they want to keep it pg, but they allow voice in lobbies in other games.. There's really just no excuse. I am holding a controller with everything already built in to be social, the game is built to be social. Why is there nothing there. It makes the experience hollow, which means I'm going to get bored after a few weeks. Content The game started really basic. A couple items and a couple of maps. Maps change out 2 every 4 hours and there are about 5 of them total. This means I'm playing the same 2 maps every 4 hours. Yawn. Everything is coming in DLC which means soon they will be wanting me to pay more to play.. And I'm just sitting here hoping that it doesn't turn into one of those games where I need squid bucks to get a special gun that will have a significant advantage over my opponents. Why can't games just come with everything to make it a great game when it releases, instead of releasing the shell of a game and filling it later. It's like paying for a buffet with plates and corn on it with the promise that more food will be out later. Should I just come back later when you have the chicken and potatos? Overall, I'm saying I would recommend this to a friend only because it would give me a real person to play with other than the people that might as well be NPCs because I have no way to interact with them otherwise.

This is the best game to come out since Mariocart 8. Fun to play, easy controls, lots of variety. Wish there were more battle options for local multiplayer and wish you could play online with more than one person. Awesome game none the less.

My 6 year old had spent so many hours playing this game. It is very entertaining and painting as much as you can to win against others can be challenging as well.

What a fun concept. Love the idea and a fun game for young and old(er). Kids love the colors and characters. Really happy a good wii U game came out this summer.

Have already spent 20 hours in the first week and thoroughly enjoying myself! I'll be playing this for years to come as long as Nintendo keeps it fresh with dlc.

This game is great for those versed in the FPS genre and those being newly initiated. For the noobs out there, there is no team chat so no fear of being yelled at and cursed out by your team should you fail a match. That said, single player will roughly teach you how to play the game, so do that first before heading online to play with/against others. There's something for everyone to do, and even though single player is fairly short (even when collecting all the secret scrolls), the final boss is one of the best final bosses to a game I've played in a long long time. Well done Nintendo!

My 9 year old got this game for Christmas and I haven't seen him for three days since. He has played it non-stop and absolutely loves this game. Tons of fun.

Nintendo really hit the nail on the head with this one, great and unique gameplay, fun characters and environments, easy to pick up yet lots of skill involved.

This is a very fun third person shooter from Nintendo. It separates itself from other shooters by having the goal be covering the most ground in ink. Right now there isn't a ton of content but the developers are continuously adding new items.

This game was my sons request for the Wii U. Low and behold the whole family is playing this game together for hours. Great game and best buying experience

love playing this with my daughter! It's a pure multiplayer team death match style romp without the blood or gore!

It's a great shooter from NIntendo. It was a bit shallow in content at the start but thanks to the continuous free updates, it's definitely worth every penny.

If you're tired of the same old CoD game year after year and want something unique and charming then you're in luck. This game has class and fun in droves.

The multiplayer is where this is at. I am unsure of how long this community will be around but it is definitely worth playing while it is alive. Pick it up.

You will have an amazing time playing this game, yet with only 2 game modes and 6 stages it seems lacking at launch, but nintendo is continually putting out free dlc maps weapons ect and soon will be putting out more modes to help this flaw.

Most of today's shooters are fast paced, balls to the wall, and blood boiling. Not Splatoon. This a very fun over the top shooter that is insanely addicting.

A rainbow-soaked shooter game where the kills don't matter; try to color more of the arena than the opposing team. Frantic fun even the little ones can enjoy.
