It can't read a card that needs swiped, therefore, an additional square reader is enclosed with this reader that plugs into your device (ipad or phone) via the headphone jack. The only problem with the "swipe" reader is that not all phones have a headphone jack on their phone anymore. I have an iPad11 Pro and it doesn't have a jack. I have a Samsung Note 20 and it doesn't have a jack. You would think Square would design this new reader to work with swiping cards as well. At my next craft show I won't be able to take anybody's cards that can only be swiped.

Easy Set-up

I loaded multiple Square readers to multiple phones so our employees can just grab what is available. The app doesn't always recognize a reader as available and it needs to be re-linked. It's a bit frustrating, hoping that we can figure out how to make this work seamlessly.
