This is now the 2nd poor experience with attempting to have speakers connected in my sons car. The first attempt I had made an appointment with an agent through the 1-800 number because I was unable to get through to the local store. The appointment that I made was to install speakers, which I purchased from Best Buy, into my sons car. Upon arrival at that appointment, we were told that it was a 15 minute consultation and that it would be at least 4-6 weeks for installation. Not a happy customer after spending over an hour on hold to get a representative to make this appointment that really was not an appointment! After that debacle, I spoke with a manager and scheduled an appointment 4 weeks away on April 2. Well, that was today. In the four weeks as kids are anxious, we installed the speakers which were plug-n-play. But we encountered that the drivers side speaker was not working meaning a wiring issue. Upon arriving at today’s appointment, I explained the same thing. Here’s were my 35 years of customer service etiquette kicks in and I listen in disgust. The younger guy working tells me...well, it’s $100 per hour for diagnostics...don’t know how long it could take. He could have cared less! My response...ok. I moved onto the possibility of adding a rear speaker(larger box with speaker behind the rear seats of the hatchback) in the back of the car because I had removed the factory one that was there. All I did was disconnect the old one and remove it, nothing else. Again this young man goes on to say that it’ll be $400-$500 for the speaker and amp to be put in. I stopped and showed him the equipment in the back and stated that there was a speaker unit in the back and nothing else was removed. So why would we need to buy an “amp”. He tells me that’s what’s required. I’m not a car stereo expert, but I did not understand why I needed to add more equipment than what I took out. And he was not one to explain nor to care. All I can say is that that department must loose a lot of sales revenue if that’s the type of service you have! Two appointments, two times going away disgusted!
