Wish I could use the Wii U Pro Controller

When I heard Star Fox was coming to the Wii U I was excited. The game is an excellent throw back to the N64 days. Only disappointed that you can't use the Wii U Pro Controller as I would have preferred to have the option.

Yet another great game from Nintendo. If you like the previous Starfox game, you will not be disappointed. However, the controls are a bit hard to get at first, so that is not the best game for young children.

A mess, yet enjoyable, Star Fox reboot

After a very long, 10 year hiatus, Fox McCloud and crew are back in a sort of reboot of the space dogfight franchise. It's your basic Star Fox title one expects, however the controls nearly sink this game. It requires you to use the Gamepad screen and television screen SIMULTANEOUSLY, leading to major frustrations and poor handling. If you can snag this game as a steep discount, go for it. Sadly, due to poor performance in sales, we may not see another Star Fox title for a very long time (if ever).

Despite the controls its a really solid game itself. Fun combat great music and keeps to that 64/snes feel. And with the amiibos adds new challenge to the game.

    Play this with a co-pilot!!!

There's some great Star Fox action to be found here, but it's tough going if you're trying to fly solo using the crazy combo of standard flight controls + motion-based aiming. But they also give you the option of splitting those controls between two people which turns a frustrating single player game into an absolutely amazing 2-player co-op. It's the way this game really needs to be played.

If you liked Star Fox 64, you might as well consider buying this game also. Controls are tricky. It takes some time to understand how to control.

In addition to Star Fox Zero you also get Star Fox Guard in it's own separate case within the paper package, which makes it a pretty good $

    StarFox 64 2

This game is essentially Star Fox 64 2. If that sounds like a good time, go buy it. The motion controls can be ignored for the most part, except on boss fights where it's required but it works really well. I thought I would hate the motion controls but they're pretty accurate. The art style and sounds are exactly like Star Fox 64, right down to the "Good Luck" when a mission starts, it's awesome. If you're not in the mood for more StarFox 64, this won't change your mind because it's the same thing. That being said for those of us that are StarFox fans, this is pretty great because we don't get many flight action games anymore and I sure do miss the good old days of StarFox and Rogue Squadron on the N64.

    Should have been better

This game could have been way better than it turned out. The level design is pretty weak, along with the voice acting and story being pretty lame. You can tell the game was rushed out as a nostalgia cash grab. The game can also be beaten in one sitting. That is if you don't experience motion sickness within 15 minutes of playing from the gimmicky, forced motion controls. I've played all types of video games but this is the first one to make me feel physically ill from the combination of controls and camera work. If you are prone to motion sickness from games stay away from this one. I wanted to like this game since I loved the N64 version when I was a kid, but its just not that good. Too bad Nintendo doesn't put as much polish or outright neglects their 2nd teir games like Star Fox and Metroid.

    Fun But Flawed

Right off the bat, you'll either love this game or hate it. The game uses a combination of traditional controls and gyroscopic motion controls to play. For me this was no problem and I think made the game a lot of fun to play. The bigger problem is that the game feels a little light on content. This is probably why Star Fox Guard is included.

    Star Fox Zero

Star Fox Zero brings back a classic Nintendo 64 plane and tank action game and reimagines it in a faster and more furious incarnation for the Wii U. The best levels capture the feeling of a wild rollercoaster, often showcasing addictive combat scenarios that incentivized me to get on the ride again and again.

I am a huge Star Fox fan as I play SF64 countless times growing up. I played this solo and with my partner using the co-op mode. Controls are absolutely horrendous and I am shocked that Nintendo didn't include an option to use the Pro controller.
