The lightsaber battle between Darth Maul, Obi Wan, and Qui Gon Jin is the highlight of this film.

Bought this as a hope to introduce my kids to Star Wars, forgot how absolutely terrible it is. From performances, to plot, to uses of CGI and poor editing, there is very little redeeming qualities. About the only thing to like is the nice steel book case. Other than that, I'd avoid it all together.

We love the whole Star Wars Saga. We own these one almost every form but we were missing the 4k. New features as well!

As long as your expectations aren't ridiculously high, and you go into The Phantom Menace without any pre-conceived thoughts, its a great film from beginning to end. Jar-Jar is okay, a bit funny occassionly, but overall a pathetic character, and the way the Force is explained does quell the mystery behind Anakin's birth later in Episode III, but it takes a bit away from the spirtual and magical element of the Force. Fans will also love the great features included here, like the commentaries, an hour long documentary depicting the creation of The Phantom Menace, featurettes, trailers, and more. The video quality and audio are also suberb, great for showing off any home theater. Closing thoughts: I understand so many hate on The Phantom Menace, but for reasons so abmysal and small in my eyes. Maybe I like it more because I'm younger, and never got into the rdiculous hype, and watched it with a fresh perspective. Regardless, even if you don't like the movie itself, the special features and visual/audio quality should be enough to make it worthy of any DVD collection. If you're a newcomer, just go into the movie and take it for what it is, not a load of hype. ***** (five stars)

Now let's be honest, if you're reading this, you have more than likely watched this film. You're aware of the scrutiny of this film as well, I'm assuming, but really think about it, it was actually fairly good. Yes, Jar Jar was beyond terrible but when you think about it, could there really have been an incredible sequel or prequel in this case, that would live up to the hype or potential of a movie almost 20 years later? No! As a movie, this was definitely good and introduces one my favorites with Darth Maul. If you haven't seen it, it is a good film but will agree with not the best in the Star Wars series. Must own film and series for the Sci Fi nerd, like myself and Steelbook makes it a must grab on the first day too!

Great movie and excellent in 4k. I have access to all the SW movies on Disney+$$ but streaming audio doesn’t compare to hard copy audio.

They meant well w Darth Maul and Mace Windu, but jar ruined the great things about this movie.

I think that "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace" was one of the greatest sci-fi/action films of all-time and it was also one of my favorite films of all-time that deeply explored the origins of the entire "Star Wars" universe and film series with this creative and original first trilogy. I also think that "The Phantom Menace" had a lot of entertaining, unexpected and enjoyable action, mystery and suspense including a really great and amazing cast and storylines as well.

This movie is good, however definitely not the best of the Star Wars series. Jar Jar Binks gets annoying, but you get used to it throughout. It ends with a bang, with one of the best fight scenes in the Star Wars series and in movie history. This is made possible with the fantastic musical score that accompanies this movie. Overall, good movie, not the best... must have for Star Wars fans and a good watch for others.

The expectation to see the prequel of the original saga, Phatom Menace is good but not great because it was like watching a kids movie. Of course like everyone else, Jar Jar gets irrating but he plays major role so I can forgive Lucas for that. Darth Muhl was the least impressive, but if you look at each Star Wars movie, Lucas shows different types of Jedi and Sith.

This is a must have for all die-hard Star Wars fans! Besides owning the beginning of the Star Wars sage, including an introduction to Darth Vader's origins, in glorious Blu-ray high def, this is packaged in a collectible tin "steelbook" with awesome Darth Maul art cover! I collected all 6, of course and they look great on my shelf! May the force be with you!

If you're reading this, it's because you haven't seen Star Wars, or because you're curious about what others are saying. If you've not seen these pieces of glorious work, I recommend you get this then binge watch all 7 episodes to properly bask in it's glory. You'll thank my review later. I have absolutely no ragrets. Star Wars is life, man.

if your a hardcore star wars fan then you dont really need to read this review but for those who are not this is the way to start a trilogy pick this movie up to see the birth of an icon

You know you can't go wrong with a Star Wars movie and this won't disappoint. Great addition to my Star Wars collection.
