Bought this because friends wanted to play it but it’s such a grind. I do prefer faster paced games that aren’t that laborious.

Flawed Zombie Slaying Bliss (Xbox One X)

This sequel has a lot of great things going for it, but has some inherent flaws that consistently remove you from the otherwise amazing experience of thriving day by day in the zombie apocalypse. Starting out with the great things about this game: -Fun, fun, fun -Immersion -Challenging -Unpredictable AI This game is similar to its predecessor, but with improvements in terms of managing your base, your community's needs and wants, and the constant worry of contracting the deadly Blood Plague virus if you're consistently attacked by bloodied zombies, or infected zeds, who are far more aggressive in nature. The challenge gets bumped up as you collect more survivors, figure out how to keep all of them alive and happy, and hoping that you don't encounter some zed specialists on your next venture to retrieve daily necessities to keep it all going. You never know what is lurking around the corner in this game. Now for the cons, the negative aspects of the game that really break the immersion on “many” occasions, and inevitably causing you to reboot the game... -Buggy gameplay (getting stuck, interface disappearing, sidekick's whereabouts unknown -Unintuitive menu complexity and presentation -Graphics aren't any better than the original (enhanced) release -Music tends to cut out at random -Reboots needed to fix game-breaking errors While the game can be really fun and pull you into its amazing world of immersion, the quests do get repetitive after a long while, the music will sometimes just stop suddenly, the contextual menu system that has you managing your base is overwhelming at first, and the worst part of it all is after a good boss fight (a.k.a. the Juggernaut), your whole interface will just inexplicably disappear, preventing menu selection, base management, character progression, GPS—everything. The game will keep running, but you lose insight into what is happening around you. This happens mostly after a climactic scene after defeating a boss, for some strange reason, and the only solution is to restart the game to fix every bug that has been accumulating during your play time. That is very annoying! Hopefully these technical glitches get fixed because they almost ruin the whole game. Despite these shortcomings, when the game is running really well, it's impressively fun across the board. You play at your own pace, chart out your character growth, and grind through until you make your goals a reality. If you've enjoyed the original game, then this is a no-brainer. This is better in a lot of aspects even though the first game ran better consistently.

Thanks for your feedback on State of Decay 2! We're glad that you're enjoying the game for the most part. Hope you continue to outlast and outlive the shambling undead zeds for a long time to come!

    Fun game, a little buggy

If you're looking for a zombie killfest, this is probably it. The game's mechanics are good, and the gunfights and melee combat are very good and the control are tight; however, the game has some problems with simpler things such as vehicle physics (like getting stuck on guardrails, getting stuck going off-roading in ditches and rocks, and in multiplayer if two players are driving separate cars near each other and collide the cars can catapult or destroy each other almost comically), being bogged down too many missions while you're doing other things (and thusly you can lose allies who feel neglected and leave because you've been stuck neck deep in zombies trying to navigate through the town), and slow patches because Microsoft has to go through a lengthy process of approving the patch even though the game developer's have had it ready for weeks or longer. TL;DR: I would recommend if you're looking for a zombie shoot-em-up with simpler base building aspects; with that in mind, know that some of the cars physics can be strange, the game is still a little buggy, and patches are going to be trickled in slowly.

    Loads of zed killing fun!

I am having a blast with this game. If you liked the first game, they improve on everything. Mods for your base add a very interesting spin on things, and I just upgraded my truck with something I got off a trader, and it's a zombie slaughtering machine now with spikes and blades. I can't wait to play this with friends! My only complaint is that I wish infestations weren't so frequent. It seems difficult to keep up with them at times.

We're glad that you're having loads of zed-killing fun with State of Decay 2! That zombie-slaughtering upgrade for your truck sounds awesome, too. Hope you outlast the walking zeds for a long time to come.
