    Pointer speed flawed with engine.

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

You can use the mouse but unless you go to SteelSeries and download THEIR ENGINE, you can't change or turn off the lighting. You can't change the pointer speed or see your battery percentage. It has a dongle that charges it wirelessly or you can skip that and connect the mouse directly. The reason I left only 2 stars is because of the very slow pointer until I downloaded the engine and created an account just to adjust the DPI settings to a speed more desirable to me. Once I did that it was still iffy tried their shooter game to calibrate it but that wasnt optimal for my vision to click fast enough to shoot right and besides how can you click fast to shoot if its slow to begin with. Still a pain until I went through the pairing of it wirelessly next to my original mouse. Then it seemed to suggest I needed 1200 to 1600 dpi. It was then SAVED AT that mark but after June's update it no longer keeps the desired saved setting so I am having to use the dongle instead of Bluetooth to get me by until they fix what they Broke. So 2 stars if is for now because of the obnoxious need for companies need to make you have an account and a download just to use the product and then update it so it doesn't work. Otherwise would be good, battery lasts a while and I'm on it most of the day....

The SteelSeriees Aerox 3 Mouse is a beautifully designed piece of work! Solidly built, it is very lightweight, extremely fast and very durable. I absolutely love this mouse! The standout feature for me is how incredibly light it is. At just 68g, the "holey" honeycomb design makes every swipe feel effortless and fast, which is a total game-changer for long sessions. Beyond the weight, the ease of use is fantastic. Setting up the lag-free 2.4GHz wireless was seamless, and the 200-hour battery life means I rarely have to worry about charging. I also really appreciate the AquaBarrier technology—knowing it’s rated IP54 to protect against dust and spills gives me a lot of peace of mind. The 3-zone PrismSync RGB looks stunning on my desk, and the TrueMove Air sensor provides pixel-perfect accuracy. Whether you’re gaming or just need a high-quality daily driver, I highly recommend the SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless. Pros Ultra-Lightweight (68g): Optimized for effortless swipes and reduced wrist fatigue. AquaBarrier Protection: IP54 rating makes it one of the most durable "holey" mice available. Dual Connectivity: Easy switching between lag-free 2.4GHz and versatile Bluetooth 5.0. Stunning RGB: The 3-zone lighting is vibrant and highly configurable via SteelSeries GG. Great Sensors/Switches: TrueMove Air and Golden Micro switches provide top-tier accuracy and feel. Cons Software Dependency: To get the most out of the RGB and performance settings, you must install the SteelSeries GG software. Size: While perfect for most, users with very large hands might find the compact shape takes some getting used to. Cable Stiffness: While it’s a wireless mouse, the included charging cable is a bit stiffer than some "paracord" style cables found on other brands. Final Verdict The SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless is a masterclass in balancing weight and features. It doesn't sacrifice durability for lightness, thanks to the AquaBarrier tech, and it doesn't sacrifice performance for battery life. If you are looking for a mouse that is easy to use, incredibly light, and visually stunning, this is an easy recommendation. It is a reliable, high-performance tool that fits perfectly into any modern gaming setup.

Really nice and lightweight gaming mouse!

For lightweight gaming mice, there are quite a few options out there. And it seems that each has their own way of getting to the lighter weight. With the SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2, and it's mostly mesh shell (there still are solid areas for the main button and the side grip areas), comes in at an un-hefty 68g. The main design, aside from the "mesh" top and bottoms, is fairly basic. Just the typical (of any type of mouse) two left "forward"/back" buttons, but also a separate button just below the clickable scroll wheel to change the DPI profile. When changing the DPI profile, it will briefly display the assigned color for the mouse (as set in the GG app). The overall size is on the smaller side, not a micro mouse, but just big enough to be handled easily. For the RGB lighting, there are 3 different sections that can be set if desired. But one thing I noticed, and couldn't find a way to change, is that the lights will turn off when moving the mouse. This is likely to help prevent any interference with the optical sensor. For me (who doesn't really care for all the RGB lighting anyway), the constant off/on, it is slightly annoying, but there is a setting to add a longer idle delay before turning the lights back on. The USB Dongle has a Type C connector, but if a Type C port isn't available close to the mouse (to keep the best connection), it does come with an A to C cable, with a C to C "bridge" connector to attach the dongle to. Also, the cable is used for charging and in wired mode (so it can still be used while charging). One of our main problems with mice is the longevity of the main buttons. I always tend to wear out mine in about 2 years or less. This one should last a bit longer as the mechanical switches are expected to last over 80 million clicks (unfortunately, I've already lost count to verify this). To get to the configuration of the mouse, I had to install latest version of SteelSeries GG app (it had been a little while) in order to see the new mouse. Once connected, it immediately prompted to update the firmware on the mouse and dongle (a multi-step process). When configuring the polling rate, the max rate for wired is 1000MHz, and for wireless is 4000MHz. There are some other gaming mice with higher polling rates, but I really don't think there is really anything noticeable going higher. Depending on the polling rate settings or the connection type, it can get from 35 hours (4K polling on 2.4GHz) of gameplay, up to 200 hours on Bluetooth (this all with RGB turned off). The 4 different DPI profiles can be set up to 26,000 DPI Since I had never used a meshed mouse before, I wasn't too sure of what it would feel like. But, with the way I normally grip mice (mainly fingers only, no palming), I really didn't notice. During gameplay, it performed great! Really not much to it when needing to lift to reposition. This is a really nice, lightweight mouse, and with its not overly complicated configuration, it should be one to be considered when looking for your next gaming mouse!

Steelseries Aerox 3 Wireless Gen. 2 Rocks!!!

So I received my Steelseries Aerox 3 Wireless Gen. 2 Super Light Honeycomb RGB Optical Gaming Mouse about a week ago and have been putting it through its paces. Steelseries have been putting out some quality products for quite sometime now that people have come to love. I have used various peripherals from Steelseries product line over the years and have been using them more and more lately. So when you open up the box you're greeted with: * Aerox 3 Wireless Mouse * USB-A to USB-C Date/Charging Cable * USB-C to USB-C Extension Adapter * USB-C 2.4GHz 4K Wireless Dongle * User Documentation/Manual Now this mouse can be setup one of three ways: Bluetooth, Wired via the USB-A to USB-C Data/Charging Cable, or via the 2.4GHZ dongle. Setting the mouse via the wired method is pretty straightforward, simply attached the USB-A end of the cable to your desktop/laptop and the other end to the USB-C port on the frontend of the mouse. Setting up via Bluetooth or 2.4GHz dongle are just as easy, just make sure you slide the switch under the mouse to your desired connection. Now once you have connected the mouse to your desired method, you’re ready to go. Now I must say that the design team for Steelseries did an outstanding job. The Aerox 3 features a honeycomb design on top of the mouse, which allows the RGB lighting effects to shine through. And the rest of the housing of the mouse is like this frosted smoky grey color. The mouse is super light at weighing only 68g. The honeycomb design as well as the weight makes this mouse very comfortable to hold in my hand. On top of the mouse is the usual Left Trigger button, Scroll Wheel (which doubles as the Middle Click), the Right Trigger button, and the DPI button which sits right below the Scroll Wheel. The left side of the mouse where your thumb would naturally sit, are the Forward and Backward buttons. A USB-C Charging port is located at the front of the mouse just below the Left and Right Trigger buttons. Underneath at the bottom of the mouse is the Wireless Mode Switch, which allows you to connect via Bluetooth, USB Cable, or 2.4GHZ. Now by going to steelseries.com/gg you can download the Steelseries software which allows you to tweak the Aerox 3 to your liking. This mouse is compatible with Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Xbox, and Playstation. So it can be used on a number of devices. I even had it connected to my iPad mini for a bit and it worked better than I expected. Now when it came to gameplay, 5-stars across the board for me. The Aerox 3 (Gen. 2) has been a freaking blast to game with its amazing accuracy and flawlessly pinpoint movement in a couple of test games that I played to see how well it faired. It was able to handle anything I threw at it flawlessly. As far as battery life, I have not had to charge it up yet since fully charing it over a week ago. But I love how the dongle has the lights on the front of it to you let you know your current battery life status. Though it was nice to use, and extremely lightweight, I do wish it was a bigger due to me having larger hands, still not a dealbreaker.

I have not had the opportunity to try as many SteelSeries devices as I have from other manufacturers but I have tried at least a few different devices across different device types (from a mouse to headphones, etc.). But with SteelSeries I am usually buying their products for one or both of my sons because they both swear by their quality, fit, finish, etc. that they are amazing. And so of every SteelSeries device I've ever purchased for them they have absolutely loved them. I still have one of SteelSeries' headsets that I use when I am traveling for work because they are lightweight and I can throw them in my bag without worrying about if they will work or not when I arrive because they always have and always do-absolutely flawlessly might I add. So I was in need of a lightweight mouse and the Aerox Wireless Gen 2 seemed like it was going to fit my needs perfectly...and it absolutely has! Unboxing & Installation When unboxing the Aerox Wireless Gen 2 I noticed how really cool the mouse looks. I love the mesh-type look it has going on. It also means my hands won't sweat when working or during an intense gaming session (heck yeah!). Anyway, so the Aerox 3 Gen 2 was just the right amount of weight for me. Not too heavy, not too light, it is just perfect. The finish is smooth but without being too smooth. It is very nice & it has become my daily driving mouse for work, play (gaming), and when just goofing off. I love that I can sync it with multiple computers and even my iPhone! Getting the software, and the mouse, connected to my Lenovo Legion Go and my Surface Pro Tablet was super easy via the dongle, Bluetooth, and of course wired via the USB C cable. And same goes for my iPhone (Bluetooth only on the iPhone). I even used this to access the Android environment of my Lenovo SmartFrame smart/digital photo frame. I am going to be modifying that to be able to run the non-Lenovo frame apps because I can't get it to let me sync with my Instagram! Which stinks! Rating: 5/5 Gaming I am someone that when I am playing a FPS game I want the DPI to be about 800-1000 DPI and then I want the mouse as lightweight as is possible because I want to be able to just flick my wrist and the moment happens quickly, smoothly, and without any sort of lag, jittering, whatever. And this mouse reminds me of an extremely lightweight mouse I had 10+ years ago that was definitely an Adder of Deaths for me in Counter-Strike: Source and other FPS games. And I loved that mouse like I've never loved a mouse before lol. And this one, while it feels just a tad bit heavier than I feel like that one did (I don't know for sure because that mouse is gone as it went MIA during a move), but its not anything that I didn't get accustomed to very quickly. This mouse was great in CS:S, CS2, Fallout, Total War, and any other mouse & keyboard games that I could throw at it. Rating: 5/5 Work/Daily Use I am someone who cannot use a super heavy mouse at work because I am constantly flipping screens with the mouse and copying and pasting things and so I need an ergonomic keyboard & mouse as well as a mouse that is lightweight, doesn't make my hand sweat or cramp, etc. and this SteelSeries mouse has been an absolute godsend. It was everything I wanted and didn't know I wanted or needed! I was getting to wear my right wrist (my mouse hand wrist) was starting to hurt me at night. I am happy to say that pain has been gone since switching to the Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2. I wish they had a more ergonomic style though because I love the kind of pistol grip style during work but I also know that during gaming would probably be weird and so that's probably why. But if they do release a mouse in that style, that is like this one but more ergonomic via the pistol grip kind of style (not full fledged like a mix between the two basically) and I'd be all over it for work & for gaming! But yeah this has done me very well. Rating: 5/5 Conclusion I think my last paragraph, well really the last few sentences, really summed everything up: it is dang near perfect for me. Maybe slightly more ergonomic would be good but I'm not complaining, I am over the moon happy. Overall Rating: 15/15

The SteelSeries - Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2 - Super-Light Honeycomb RGB Optical Gaming Mouse is a very lightweight and somewhat sturdy mouse for me. Its water-resistant and dust-resistant honeycomb shell is stylish and comfortably designed for various grips. The ergonomic design of the Aerox 3 allows me to game for long periods of time, without developing mouse fatigue in my hand or fingers. When I opened the box, there was the SteelSeries Aerox 3 wireless gaming mouse, the USB-C dongle, an extension adapter, and a 5.9 feet long super mesh charging cable. The USB-C can be used for a 15-minute quick charge, which will provide over 40 hours of gameplay. The battery life is long with up to 120 hours with 2.4GHz and up to 200 hours with Bluetooth. This offering of dual wireless connectivity with 2.4 GHz or Bluetooth allows me to use my Aerox 3 with multiple devices. The SteelSeries - Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2 - Super-Light Honeycomb RGB Optical Gaming Mouse is precise and allows all the flicks I need with a ton of new accuracy. I can jazz up my Aerox 3 with different color variants along with some dynamic splendid RGB lighting. Also, the Aerox 3 is extermely durable, due to it being manufactured with an IP54 rating that protects against spills and dust. The SteelSeries - Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2 - Super-Light Honeycomb RGB Optical Gaming Mouse is an economical winner with a solid build.

    Dynamic Style + Solid Durability

This SteelSeries Aerox 3 is a mouse where the design is evident in every part of its function. It's a really great mouse that makes you want to write a thank-you note to the design team. It’s incredibly light, but it doesn't feel like a toy. I’ve been tossing this in my bag as a lightweight travel option for a while now, and I haven't worried for a second about its durability. Despite the open honeycomb shell, it feels solid. SteelSeries claims it has "AquaBarrier" protection for dust and water resistance, and while I haven’t (and won’t) dunk it in a glass of water, it’s clearly doing its job of keeping the internals clean from day-to-day grit. Even the finish on the casing is comfortable for long sessions - it has a nice texture that doesn't feel like cheap plastic. It’s quick to pair and super simple to switch between Bluetooth and the USB-C wireless dongle. (Another design note here - the desktop dongle extension is great, good weight & a no slip bottom are just simple, clear, and appreciated choices.) I’ve found it to be super responsive in both modes. I’m ancient by competitive gaming standards, but the tracking on this sensor is undeniable. It's like driving sports car: my actual ability to drive is well within the confines of what this machine can handle. The cursor movement is super smooth, and the same goes for the click speed—it’s crisp, tactile, and consistently fast. Aesthetically, it hits a nice balance. The RGB lighting is adjustable and adds a bit of personality without being overtly "gamer" or distracting in a professional setting. I have the Shadow colorway, which looks great, but the design is clean enough that I’m genuinely considering picking up the Ghost version for my office desk. It’s a well-engineered, durable, and highly portable tool that performs better than I probably ever will. If you want something that disappears in your hand but stands up to being shoved in a backpack, this is a great choice.

The SteelSeries Aerox 3 wireless gen 2 mouse with the honeycomb RGB lighting looks very simple yet interesting. Looks like a very simple 3d printed mouse but works amazing. It is very light weight and ergonomic. Your hand just hugs the mouse, and clicks are nice and firm and loud. The RGB lights can be modifies with the software that can be downloaded from their website. One thing I personally did not like was the fact that the usb dongle was so large and can't be stored within the mouse like other wireless mice. Not a huge problem to have but I like to travel with my mouse and not being able to keep them together i feel one day i will lose it. However, the overall design, color and the honeycomb design make it look unique. Steel series does say dust will not be an issue but only time will tell. The BPI can be adjusted to your liking so if oyu like fast moving pointer for gaming or a slow-moving option for those delicate designs this mouse has you covered. I would totally recommend this to people looking for a new mouse.

The packaging was very premium, and the mouse came with the usb receiver and extender cable needed to use it for all of the configuration options. I just needed to download the steel series software that was clearly spelled out via web url. The setup was pretty simple. The part about the software that I found was unique was the FPS shooting practice games. I found it pretty entertaining to build my skills with this mouse vs the game in practice. In fact, that was the most fun I had with setting up a wireless mouse in a long time. Typically, you’re just setting up the profile, reaction times, rgb color settings. This added a real value to the use of the mouse. Use: I found the response very fast with the Aerox 3 and the battery life fair given the rgb lighting in such a light package. After several hours of gaming on this mouse, I found the web pattern on the palm part of the mouse to leave a mark in my palm and after extended use this just was not comfortable. I just feel the mouse is too open here and it would have been better if there was more even palm support. I assume they were going for breathability when gaming, but this led to an uncomfortable use. In fact, that was the largest con of this mouse was after about 30 minutes I was just not comfortable using it. I wish they just added some texture if the goal was for it to allow your hand to breath since there is no work around for this design for me. As for the extreme lightness of the mouse. I did not feel after time that it added anything to my gaming advantage vs my previous mouse. I think since your just moving it slightly in any direction I did not notice the weight difference. Summary: I like the setup and software Steel Series provided here and the looks and performance of the mouse are top notch. I just wish the design was more comfortable and the battery life was longer. Overall, it is a great mouse for the money if you can get past the feel in your hand. Something I think is a personal decision.
