definition of an identity crisis
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.tl;dr any sound that comes through this headset on pc sounds as if you we're in a empty room i.e. the sound is very condensed, when tested against a Turtle Beach headset the TB headset outperformed this headset by leaps in bounds especially in game, the SteelSeries GG software isn't meant to be user friendly and this isn't a headset (ON PC AT LEAST) that you're gonna take out of the box and get crystal clear, crisp, breath taking sound. I bought this because I needed headphones that would work with my oculus and that were wireless. I'm moving to a TWS PC set up and a good pair of wireless headphones was the last item on the list. This works great with the Oculus when you're streaming games via air link, both game chat and game sounds come through nice and sound real crisp. from here on out all comparisons will be made unbiased and judged purely out of what I was supposed to be replacing, a turtle beach headset. where this headset sorely fails is it tries to be a the headphones you can listen to music with, watch the best of the best movies with, AND play games with all in one. It can't be just a gaming headset. You open up SteelSeries GG which is the software that you use to "customize / connect" the headset to your PC and you immediately realize all the customization options mean nothing to you because to a normal human being who just wants to open the box, throw the headset on, and get good quality sound having them mess with configs like sub bass, bass, low mids, mids, mid range, upper mids, and highs just to get desired sound is gonna need a youtube video and an advil for a headache. Not to mention for a GAMING headset SPATIAL AUDIO IS TURNED OFF BY DEFAULT. This is seriously Beats By Steel Series But For Gamers. I wanted to give it a chance so without messing with any configs or presets, I jumped into a game of Hell Let Loose and believe it or don't the turtle beach headset sounded better. So since this is a music based headset I went to Spotify to see how it sounded. The TB headset performed better in Rock & Roll. Instamentals we're clearer and richer. The Arctis sounded like everything was condensed inside of the headphones due to the earcups. The Arctis did a little better in the Pop category. Vocals were richer. The TB headset outperformed the Arctis by a landslide in the Hip-Hop, R&B, Rap, AND Jazz / Orchestra. All for their own respected reasons.

Steelseries 7P plus
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Comfortable headset with nice button layout SCORE 5. I like the retractable mic. Simple plug and play setup. NOTE: the PLASTIC pivot point where the headband meets the cans is a WEAK POINT!!! SCORE 1. It certainly won’t take much to break that if you don’t treat it with the utmost care each and every time you pick them up.

YOU WILL REGRET THESE
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had this headset for 2 years now and am replacing it with something else. Pros - Battery life is as rated - In-game positioning is good Cons - Wireless connection is spotty from any distance - Range is awful - Audio quality and microphone are middling - Build quality is not made to last - Software is a confusing mess - Low battery warning starts with 5 minutes of battery left - Only one device at a time I'm finally getting rid of these. I've had consistent issues with audio cutting in and out rapidly (like someone holding down the space bar on a YouTube video), audio dropping and requiring a headphones/PC restart, and random shutoffs of these headphones, with the receiver literally 2.5 feet from the headphones with an unobstructed view of them. On top of this, the overall range from the receiver is maybe 15 feet through one wall, which may not sound like an issue, but is the difference between continuing to talk with friends while grabbing water from the kitchen and hearing the infuriating, consistent "no connection" beep. In terms of audio quality, the surround sound capabilities of these are good - I've never had issues being able to pinpoint where enemies are in Overwatch or COD. Overall sound quality, though, is on the low side of passable. Bass response is non-existent, and the entire sound signature has a thin layer of mud across it. The microphone's also not great; I've been told that my mic sounds worse than a Logitech G432's, a ~$50 headset. This is absolutely unacceptable for the price these go for. My last complaint is the software for these. It's a steaming garbage mess of confusion and required account creation. None of the profiles make a difference to the sound or positioning of in-game audio cues, and is generally confusing to navigate and do anything with. It does come with a nifty two-sound-source...thing in Windows which splits the game audio and voice audio (i.e., Discord) into two separate audio channels that can be controlled separately, but is otherwise not worth any of your time. Long story short- these weren't worth the ~$130 I paid back in 2020, and they're ABSOLUTELY not worth the $170 they are now. YOU WILL REGRET THESE.

Great Headset Improved - def disable SideTone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great headset, upgraded my Arctis 7 because the battery life was pretty bad after a few years. 7+ is great and the new EQ Sonar software is easy to use. Only complaint, it came with sidetone or whatever enabled where you can hear how your own voice/background sounds to others in the game. I don't like this feature because I don't think many people like to hear themselves talk, definitely plug it into a PC and disable sidetone immediately.

Not completely satisfied.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked with my samsung tablet and ps5 using the dongle. The dongle is too big to fit into my phone with the otterbox case. Maybe if I bought a little extender from amazon it would work. The chatmix volume doesn't work with ps5. I will probability be taking it back since Im not able to get the full functionality for the price.

Poor sound without additional software
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these because I got tired of managing a cable for my old headphones. A few friends separately recommended these. These headphones sound alright after spending some time installing the Sonar software (available as a beta test as of this writing). Without this software, using recommended drivers, the headset directed all audio through a secondary "chat" input, significantly lowering the quality. Nobody should be forced to use "always-on" software like Sonar for a peripheral. Even after setting things up, I still feel that the quality is noticeably worse than my old $60 headphones. I'm not an audio person, so if I notice the difference, it must be significant. Build quality-wise, everything feels like plastic. I understand it keeps them light, but I feel like I need to baby them or else the hinges above the ear cups might break. Again, I have owned much cheaper headphones that have felt much higher quality. Additionally, the volume sliders adjust very easily, and are located such that I accidentally bump them every time I put the headphones on. The battery life is around two days per charge in my experience after about a month. They charge quickly via USB-C, and you can use them while they are charging. Overall, for the amount that these cost, I'm pretty disappointed. I plan to keep using them, hopefully the technology gets worked out, or I'll just get used to how they sound.

Worst headset ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't normally write reviews of products evet, but this one has to be addressed. This is by far the worst headset I've ever bought and tried ever. The sound is terrible, sounds like you have 2 metal cans connected to the top of you head. The bugs with the SteelSeries software are beyond garbage as well so buggy, Please avoided this headset at all costs.

Great if you don't mind replacing every 6-9 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this headset. Or at least I did. The headset, tech, everything is fantastic. The issue is the point where the headband connects to the housing. They use a plastic dowel with a metal stop against a plastic hole to hold the earcups against your head. It took 9 months of using this headset day to day before it started to fail. But as soon as it did it became useless. Now they will replaces these when this happens. I have problems with losing my headset for weeks at a time to rma/return them. If that doesn't bother you then the headset is fine, just buy the extended warranty and replace it when that happens. Beyond that the headset is probably the most comfortable headset I've had. Now it's JBweleded together and works fine. Just a huge design oversight.

Comfortable but no noise cancellation
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not waste your time. This headset has absolutely no noise gate technology even in Steel Series Engine. Trash headset. Everybody can literally hear everything going on in the background.
