DO NOT BUY - SteelSeries Broke The Sidetone

I have owned this headset for right at 6 months. Sound-wise, it's great. However, that is all completely ruined by the terrible firmware that SteelSeries sends to the headset once it's set up. DO NOT accept this firmware. It destroys the sidetone entirely on the headset. It sounds like you're talking under water. It gives me a headache. I was told today by SteelSeries that the low sidetone is on purpose. I only kept the headset because I thought they were working to fix it. Save your money. This headset is garbage.

    Excellent Gaming and Music Headset!

Great headset, many improvements on the Arctis Pro. GameDac looks much sleeker, only complaint is the dial is a bit large. But the headset is a lot more comfortable and now adjusts the length of the headphones and not just the band on the top. Sound quality is top notch for music and gaming, directional audio is very good. I recommend downloading the SteelSeriesGG software and utilize the Sonar system they have in that!

To me, sound is everything, and if I can’t hear my sound then there is no point. This is a very quiet headset and it does not warrant the higher price tag.

    Nice Headset, Just Not Perfect

If you are a gamer and you’re not using a headset then you are definitely not playing as competitively as you can. In game audio cues are heightened by a great headset with immersive and accurate surround sound which makes it easier to locate and kill your opponents. I consider my headset an essential part of my gaming hardware arsenal. As a result I’m very particular about my headsets and changing headsets makes me anxious. I do still like trying new ones in hope of finding an even better headset. I was unfamiliar with Steelseries prior to trying the Arctis Nova Pro wired headset. The headset comes nicely packaged and well protected in a fabric carrying bag. In the box with the headset is the gamedac, a headphone jack cable, 2 usb c to a cables, a mic filter, and the manual. The headset looks great with impressive build quality. You simply connect the Arctis Pro headset to the gamedac with the headphone jack cable and then connect the gamedac to your computer using usb c to usb a cable. There is a second usb c port which allows you to connect the gamedac to a second pc or gaming console console. The manual directs you to download the Steelseries GG software. After installation you’re prompted to register. Afterwards there was a prompt that a firmware update was available. With the gamedac you can control the volume and headset input settings. Upon first use the gamedac walks you through its settings on its onscreen lcd panel. Very cool. I really like the convenience of the handy volume control using the gamedac. Slipping the headphones on I was ready to try them in a game. The headphones are very comfortable with a nicely padded headband and ear pads. I did however quickly noticed that the headset sat somewhat uncomfortably for my liking. A quick adjustment of the headband corrected this. As I jumped into a game I also noticed that right out of the box the audio sounds a bit murky for my taste and that the surround sound seemed to drop out periodically as I moved through the gaming environment. I wasn’t totally surprised by this and just figured that some audio settings needed adjusting so I launched the software. Upon launching the Steelseries software I just assumed the app would launch directly to headset settings. But instead I’m greeted with an app which seems designed more so to sell me more Steelseries products. The actual audio settings are in fact the last item in the menu. I find this annoying and offensive. Just ignore the rest of the app and click on Sonar to adjust mic and audio settings including noise cancellation and surround sound. I really wish there was a settings game overlay option so you can access these settings while in game. Otherwise you have to jump in and out of a game repeatedly while making adjustments to get your sound just right. I was also somewhat surprised to find so few settings compared to other headsets that I’ve used. After a lot of playing with settings I got to the point where I felt reasonably satisfied with the overall sound. I do still think the spatial audio which is what they call their surround is somewhat lacking and distracting. No setting that I found solved the issue of surround sound dropping out as you move and turn through a game. I found this distracting and feel that it would negatively impact gameplay to some extent. I also wish there was a setting for mic monitor volume. Overall a really nice headset, just not perfect.

I am usually a fan of wireless headsets, but I wanted to try these ones because of their reputation, and oh man, I haven't touched my wireless headsets since I tried these. I know they make these wireless as well, but they cost more and supposedly for competitive gaming, wired headsets is the way to do. 5/5 SteelSeries GG Software - I have used different apps from different companies from Corsair to Razer, and honestly, SteelSeries has the best software hands down. I appreciate the simplicity and all the profiles already created for my favorite games. the Sonar feature is the best and I don't see myself using another one. 5/5 Sound - clearest sound I have experienced in Warzone. I can actually hear the steps and even the direction is coming from. Spatial Audio actually works like it's supposed to. I am not sure how they have figured it out because others claim it too, but these are the first headsets where I seriously can tell the difference. Thank you! I cannot longer complaint about the steps because I almost feel like I am at an advantage and it's not fair to the other gamers, but maybe that's the price for getting a quality headset. 4/5 - Built Quality - I personally prefer a little less plastic and more metal material because I feel like it would last longer, but no big complaints. It passes the quality test but just wish it was more sturdy even if it meant longer gaming sessions would be uncomfortable. 5/5 - Comfortability - Perfect. No complaints. Don't plan on doing your hair before gaming because the band will push your hair down and you are going to look someone funny everytime after a gaming session. Doesn't matter to me though. Super comfty for my 2-3 hour sessions! Overall, I am so happy with these. I thought I was going to have a hard time adjusting to having a wired headset, but honestly the sound quality made me quickly forget about the cable. I don't care if there is a cable, I care about hearing player's steps and this finally gave me that! So happy! Thank you!!!

SteelSeries - Arctis Nova Pro Headset

The SteelSeries - Arctis Nova Pro wired gaming headset are an impressive pair of headphones. Let’s talk about the looks of the headset first. The headset looks sleek and modern with the black color way. Topped with a metal band underlined with another adjustable band that can be snapped into place to adjust your desired fit. Very comfortable on top of the head without it feeling like it’s squeezing too much. On the left earcup you have a hidden mic that actually retracts into the earcup itself which I thought was innovative feature as it’s always with you and you never have to worry about plugging it in or taking it off when traveling. Also on the same earcup is the volume control and a mic mute button. Also in the box a nice carry pouch is included along with 2 USB-C to USB-A cables, aux cable, microphone filter and the GameDAC unit which you headphones and source plugs into. The GameDAC is an awesome control unit that has a smooth rotary volume dial and touchscreen control. You can control all your audio settings from this unit and it is really slick and simple to use. You can actually plug in 2 sources to this unit like for example an PS5 and laptop and switch between the two on the fly. The head meet supports 360 spatial audio and the headset has premium high fidelity drivers. With my testing the sound is really clear and I can hear every little detail. Mic is clear as well and I have no complaints. Almost gave this product 5 starts but I took one away because I did not like the feel of the earcup material which is made up of a leatherette material. Not really for my liking as it felt too thin and really made me question the longevity of the earcup material as I’ve had products made of this material before which have never held up long. Also during my testing I did notice my ears getting warm. Did not seem like they breathed well. Other than that this headset excels on its other features.

    Phenomenal Sounding Gaming Headset

Let me start by saying I am very impressed with this Arctis Nova Pro gaming headset. The sound profile is very much to my liking. Crisp highs, great mids, and a nice deep bottom end. I know that sound is subjective, but these are very much to my liking. They are also super comfortable. I've wore these hours at a time with glassed on, and feel zero fatigue. They look and feel like high end headphones. These can be used via the headphone jack on your computer, but where these really shine is when you connect them to the included DAC. Things get very interesting. It unlocks 8 channels of virtual sound. The Arctis Nova Pro gaming headset is a real joy to use while gaming. In racing games you can hear opponents coming up behind you and almost pin point where they are in relation to your vehicle. In Call of Duty: Warzone, the same applies. You can practically pin point enemies by sound. The virtual surround sound gives your games a sense or realism you just don't get with regular gaming headsets. A feature I really enjoy on this headset is the mic is retractable. It can be stored right inside the headset until you need it. Most games I play, I play solo, and not having a mic in the way is a huge plus for me. It took me a minute to figure the volume control issue. Essentially, while using the DAC you have 3 volume controls. The DAC, the headset, and the PC. I found that setting the headset and DAC to 100% and using the PC volume control works best for me. Likes: 1.) Great sound signature 2.) Look and feel high end 3.) Mic can be left in headset Dislikes: 1.) N/A

I have always been a fan of the SteelSeries headsets. However, one thing kept them from having a permanent place next to my gaming PC. Previous models had a set headband size, with an elastic band that would stretch and adjust to your head size. While comfortable, I could never quite pull the ear pads down far enough for comfort, as my larger-than-normal head would max out the default headband size. So, I have had to use different headsets over the past few years that fit me better. However, this Actis Nova Pro finally has an adjustable headband length! I can pull the earcups down to give myself more room, and the elastic band is still present for that soft all-day comfort. There is finally a SteelSeries gaming headset that I can actually use! Fit and finish on these are great. The headset is light but feels solidly built. The ear cups are a soft memory foam material, and provide great comfort. Sound quality is great overall, and I have had no complaints from friends while using the built in mic. The desktop controller is simple and easy to use, and the physical volume knob works perfectly. I like that you can adjust basic options from the desktop controller directly, or download the SteelSeries Windows software for more fine control. The software also provides firmware updates, which installed for me without a hitch.

I have had this product for about 2 months, the first too months were fine but suddenly when booting my system I could no longer hear voices in videos, be heard, or hear well on discord. It began sounding extremely low quality while playing. I attempted to reinstall my audio drivers, reinstall the SteelSeries app as well as reset the headset. I tried various ports on my PC and nothing has fixed it. As a consumer I expect a headset to be used to at least be able to listen to music or talk through. I would rather use skull candy headphones than use this headset to listen to music.

This is a top of the line headset and rightfully so. I'll start with the only knock I could find and that is without making any eq adjustment the bass is a little weak - actually not quite as good as some mid line earbuds, that being said you can use the equalization in the software for the base to more than over come this. Now the good - it's plug and play was able to connect it to the PC and gaming system (PS5 in my case - sure it would work with XBox just didn't try it). Lots' of adjustments in the software and you can adjust by game - nice feature, as a said earlier the out of the box bass leaves something to be desired so I would recommend spending some time on the adjustments. They are very comfortable to wear for extend period of time - the most I did was about six hours and didn't have any discomfort, did get a little warm a couple of times but not any more so than others I have tried. The function on the headset work easily and don't require to much action to engage- really good when you're emersed in game play. This is a great headset and I would highly recommend it

I got these headphones because I wanted to use them while gaming on my PC and my PlayStation 4, and I have to say they work great on both. They are easy to setup and are easy to just unplug and move to whichever platform I am using. Since I have kids, it is nice that I can listen to the game audio without having to worry about if it is kid friendly. The audio quality is also fantastic. I even forget that I am wearing them sometimes and feel like things sound better than when I am using the regular television speakers. One thing I really appreciate is that the Arctis Novas use standard cables. Like I said before, I use these with my PlayStation 4 which is about 15 feet away from my couch. Since they use a standard usb cable, all I had to do was get a 15 foot cable that reaches all the way to my couch. Overall, I really love the Arctis Nova headphones and would recommend them to anyone looking for a pair of gaming headphones. They are comfortable and sound great. They are some of the best headphones I have had in a while.

Do not buy. Audio quality is extremely tinny, mic monitoring is overwhelming and cannot be turned off, and unless you get the buggy software, which requires you to make an account, you cannot adjust your levels beyond 5 preset options that barely make a difference.
