Customers consistently note the high quality of the three included games, frequently citing the nostalgic appeal and overall value as significant positives. Many also enjoy the fun factor and portability of the collection. However, some users point to control and camera issues as potential drawbacks, along with a feeling that the games are not significantly enhanced from their original versions.

Subtle improvements, value-packed collection
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just like Mario All-stars on Super Nintendo, this game includes 3 of the best 3d Mario Platformers for someone who wants to play classics portable for the first time. Only Galaxy gets major improvements to the visuals, and the controls are translated pretty well. Sunshine only gets a boost to 1080p, no real changes other than that, still an extremely fun experience. 64 gets pretty much no changes, not even widescreen, but I'd argue that purists will love this. Still, seems like the devs could have done more to make these games look and run better. Aside from that, it brings you back with that 90's/early 2000's nostalgia and is a good value for $60, wouldn't hesitate to recommend as part of your switch collection

An awesome bit of nostalgia
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Being able to play these three classic games on the Switch is nothing short of amazing! These games defined their generations, and to have them all in one pack is great! The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is that these are simply emulated versions of the classic games. There is nothing new added to the experience. These are not remasters fully utilizing the capabilities of the Switch. Yes, the resolution is upscaled, but that's about it. So if you're expecting a brand new experience, you'll likely be disappointed. But if you want the opportunity to enjoy these classic masterpieces the same way we did many years ago, this is an excellent purchase and one that this Mario fan was more than happy to make!!!

Good but could have been better
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is nothing new in this re-release except a graphics upgrade and the options to listen to the games music in the title menu. The games don’t look that amazing per se, but it is a noticeable difference. It is just the dolphin emulater games ported to the switch. Some glitches are still here from the original games (except backwards long jump on Mario 64). I havent played Mario galaxy or Mario 64 and never finished Mario sunshine on the legacy consoles so this is a good starting point for that. Also Mario galaxy works with joy-cons so you can use them as sort of a “wii-mote and nunchuck combo” if you wish to play like the Wii did. Overall good product, but some gripes here and there lower the score.

Great game, but
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome classic. Loved playing Mario from N64. Only concerned is going forward. Is Nintendo gonna make N64/GC/Wii games playable like NES and SNES. Or are they gonna do emulation games like these and make us buy the games all over again. Next games might be Mario Kart Double Dash and Mario Kart Wii. Because truthfully I could just plug in my Wii U and play these games also. Just wondering what they’re plans are going forward. Although I know I’ll still buy haha

Great, but a little dissapointed...
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love these three games. Each amazing and perfect on their own and for their time, but as a collection Super Mario 3D All-Stars is a lazy product. These are emulations! Can you believe that? Sunshine doesn't even hit 60fps and neither does Mario 64, which i know for a fact that the Switch is capable of, not to mention the multitude of glitches i've encountered, glitches not found in the original game. Galaxy on the other hand is the exception to this collection. 1080p, 60fps. Nice little remaster. I just wish the other two games were treated better. However, if you want to experience these classic on the Switch, this is the way to go! I love this collection...I just wish there was more effort put into it...

Good Compilation of Mario Games
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works as expected. The quality is much better on the switch than the original consoles. For Super Mario Galaxy when connected to the TV, the motion controls still exist and have been integrated into the switch controllers. It appears to be working by using the gyros, with a quick reset button if the cursor is off. In handheld mode, collecting starbits and other motion controls are accomplished by using the touch screen. Overall, no problems with the games.

Great Mario Collection
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great addition to my collection! To have now 3 more Mario games on my Switch is amazing! For $60 you can't go wrong with getting all of these masterpieces! The only thing I will say is it's weird to play Mario 64 with a pro-controller and not the M-Shape. But still fun! To now grab Sunshine which runs for over $70 on GameCube (which I just purchased this console at the start of COVID), but to get 3 great games for $60 I think is a steal. Must buy!

A must have for any Super Mario fan!
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A must have for any Super Mario fan! 3 great games (or at least 2.5 great games) for the price of one! Mario 64 has always been one of my favorites and this is an excellent port of the game. Super Mario galaxy is also represented very well here. The inclusion of Mario sunshine makes sense, but not my favorite Mario game by a long shot. It is fun to introduce some of the games I grew up with to my children. Definitely worth the purchase price!

A great selection of games!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The games themselves, without a doubt, are perfect and worth the purchase for the chance of revisiting these game portably or experiencing them for the first time. However, the game lack some of the quality of life features (customizing button layouts, inclusion of the manuals, retrospective material for their respective games, etc) that makes the collection feel lazy and makes the $60 price hard to recommend wholeheartedly. If this is your first time experience any or all of these games, I’d say go for it. However, if you’re someone who’s familiar with these games or are expecting it to be the caliber of the original releases or OTHER current-day ways of playing it, then you’ll be somewhat disappointed.

Functional copies of the games.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have ever played these games before, your muscle memory will betray you; buttons on controllers do not do what you expect them to do, and you will need to relearn what button does what. The game itself disappoints in a few ways, and nearly all of them are owed to its lack of control over controls. There is no in-game way to rebind controls, so if you want to use the B button to attack in Super Mario 64, you will need to leave the game to rebind the controls in the Switch's system menu. While this might not be an issue for a controller that cannot be plugged into the Switch, it might be an issue for you Retro Brawler 64 USB users out there. More insultingly, there are no binding options to use the classic Gamecube controller settings for Super Mario Sunshine, controllers that have been made available not only in USB form, but using the original Gamecube controller hardware and official USB dongle. B no longer functions as the attack button, instead another jump. Y now functions to pick up and dive, instead of activating Mario-Cam. In Super Mario Galaxy, spin attacks and pointer options map poorly to Joy-Cons. Positive revisions of the game include changing references to the buttons, so there is a new "+" sprite used in the starting screen of Super Mario 64, saying to PRESS + instead of PRESS START. The graphics are crisp, and images crystal-clear on modern displays over HDMI, without having to use older component cables to connect the original consoles. The out-of-box experience simply was not what I was hoping for when paying $60 to pay these three games. If you have the Wii U, enjoy Super Mario 64 for $10 through the Virtual Console. Super Mario Galaxy can be bought digitally for $20. So, that leaves Super Mario Sunshine at a price tag that at best is $30 (more if you value the other two games at less).

Good memories here.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So it's 2 of the greatest 3D Mario games of all time and the most underrated 3D Mario game of all time, all on one cartridge. If you already have all three games on their native* systems, you'll only want to get this because you'll be more easily able to take those games with you. If you've never played these before, it's worth picking up because all three are very fun and very, very deep in terms of the play through (though the storylines remain the whole "Mario saves the day" thing, as with the greater majority of Mario games). Graphics are ripped directly from the respective versions of these games, as are frame rates. While there are patches out there for those who run these in emulation to increase the quality of textures, the frame rates in Sunshine (frame locked to 30fps) and Mario 64 (which often runs at less than 30 fps), and to make Mario 64 into a widescreen game, Nintendo chose to ignore all of that and keep it original. I actually do appreciate this, but I know some fans are disappointed by no HD touchups. The biggest area of improvement for all three games is audio. Playing with my home theater receiver doing the audio instead of my TV's speakers, all 3 games had accurate 5.1 channel surround sound. The soundtracks for all three games being accessible as an extra is a nice bonus - especially Super Mario Galaxy's fully-orchestrated score. All in all, this is worth getting if you don't already have these games or you want to be able to take them with you on the go. Also, as a collector edition thing (because this is going away at the end of March), this is a cart that will only go up in value.
