Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the high quality of the three included games, frequently citing the nostalgic appeal and overall value as significant positives. Many also enjoy the fun factor and portability of the collection. However, some users point to control and camera issues as potential drawbacks, along with a feeling that the games are not significantly enhanced from their original versions.

    Nostalgia with a few quirks

Great value for a bundle of some Mario classics. Fantastic to be able to relive some of the best titles in the Super Mario franchise, especially Super Mario Sunshine (the best Mario title of all time). The gameplay and controls are a little wonky with the Switch system. Actions seem backwards on Sunshine, and it is very hard to control directions on 64 with the standard settings. I unfortunately have given the games a permanent rest for now, as the finicky controls can create some fatigue while playing. All in all, I don’t regret the purchase and think it’s worth playing through those little quirks.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars contains 3 classic Mario games: Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy all in one package for the price of a single game. Talk about a bargain. The individual games are all fantastic in their own regard so seeing them bundled together like this is great. This game would be a perfect gift for someone who has never played any of the Mario games or is a long time fan looking to revisit. Each game could easily hold your interest in for 20+ hours, so this package easily gives you the bang for your buck.

Ever since the Wii, I fell in love with SM Galaxy. This game right here has been one of the best decisions Nintendo has made. 3 cool games for the prize of 1! A lot of fun hours await for you!

I must admit that I bought the game when it was $10 bucks off; I can’t complain about the value. As for the gameplay, I was more excited to play Mario 64 and Galaxy. I played Sunshine on the GameCube, and that was enough for me. I’d say it’s worth it for those who haven’t played the games—it’s my chance to play Galaxy. It’s a nice nostalgia piece...or let’s be real, some just want to possess a nostalgia piece to own and never play (think Steam games). The game comes with the soundtracks, but it’s not worth it to me especially with the soundtracks being available online and on YouTube. I bought the physical game, but I reviewed this game as FOUR stars because apparently the physical AND digital were “limited time only” which makes no sense for a digital game.

The games included are a blast from the past. Mario 64 is definitely the highlight for me, but my loves Galaxy since she beat the original version on our wii a long time ago. And the kids love playing Sunshine. Overall its great. Controls can be a hindering issue at first but as you play it becomes bareky noticable. The graphics are dated but still hold up for what they are and when they were created.

I think that this game is overall good. I personally think it is not great like many people here are overhyping it. There are some camera angles and control issues (being more notable with Mario 64). 60 dollars is a bit much for games that are just ports and outdated, and let's not forget how it is ridiculous that this game is only available until the end of March. Now, this game is absolutely fun, regardless of the outdated graphics. I have been playing this game on the go, like all other games, and it brings memories from my childhood. I personally did not play the OG Mario 64 on the Nintendo 64 but on the DS version. Mario Sun Shine is pretty decent since I have never played it and Mario galaxy looks great on the switch. Overall, a great game to pick up before the end of March.

The All Stars pack is a great value coming with 3 classic Mario games for $60. Just be aware of what you are getting. Mario 64 is a classic and the resolution was enhanced but otherwise it is exactly as you remember. With Sunshine, widescreen support was added and Galaxy has that and slightly improved resolution. This is my first time experiencing Galaxy. It is linear in progression but the music and controls make it a delight to play in docked mode. Sunshine has some neat ideas but it feels like the camera actively works against you and it is a shame that was not fixed. As for extras, you just get the soundtracks in a menu for the three games. If you haven't experienced these and are curious or you want to play them on the go, definitely worth your time though.

Three of the best games ever made.

This is a must have for switch, a chance to play three of the best games ever made is not to be passed up. Don't get me wrong I would have loved a remaster of Super Mario 64 and Sunshine but the higher resolutions are great and the color is fantastic. As for the games... I have nearly completed Super Mario 64, and make no mistake this game is a masterpiece! It shares a less than perfect camera control with Sunshine but the platforming is unbelievable. You find yourself making reflex moves on the run and are blown away by the depth of Mario's move set, when you start you think "oh old game, probably not a lot here" then as you play you learn more and more moves... and when to use them, eventually chaining together a series of death defying jumps and dives over an infinite abyss. Super Mario Sunshine is a game that I have played a good bit of before (though never completed) this is a sharper more colorful version, I plan on starting a fresh run as soon as I beat 64. Sunshine is a charming, often frustrating, gem. The camera occasionally choses to do something different from what you would like and there are some insanely difficult levels (not helped by a more restricted level order than 64) but if you have not played this game you are missing out on an highly enjoyable Mario adventure. I have not, I am ashamed to admit, played Super Mario Galaxy... yet. All said and done I give this collection and every game in it five stars!

Overall quality of each emulater/remaster 64: Kinda lame since it’s 4:3 and only 720p but still perfectly serviceable and Mario 64 doesn’t have very high resolution textures anyways so it’s fine Sunshine: Pretty good being 16:9 and full 1080p and plays good overall, however I noticed a few frame rate skips Galaxy: Looks phenomenal at 1080p 60fps and in all honestly I think the game looks better then most other remasters from the Xbox 360 and PS3. Controls flawlessly with the pro controller too, even the pointer works well with the pro controllers gyro aim. Nice collection for Mario’s 35th anniversary but too bad it’s limited time only and please don’t pay over $60 for it.

Great classics and good value if you don’t own the games on prior systems. I wish they would have remastered Mario 64, but i get the nostalgia behind it as I remember plugging hours into the original to get all 120 stars! Mario Sunshine and Galaxy are great additions to the collection, especially since I never played Galaxy. I recommend playing this with the Switch Pro controller as I have large hands and the Joy Cons get a little uncomfortable with long play times.

This game bundle (Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy) offers a pure and uncut dose of nostalgia to those who enjoyed these games in the past. I would not recommend getting these games if you did not play at least one of them during original release. I personally loved SM64 and SM Sunshine back in the day, and this was enough to allow me to enjoy SM Galaxy (so far). If you are not into playing games of the past, this is not for you.
