This game is going down as a classic. It's is a great Mario game, but it also improves on a lot. For one it's beautiful to look at and has incredible music. For another it introduces a bunch of really cool mechanics -- possession is a neat idea and really fun to experiment with. The controls are super tight as well. I found the platforming was much smoother than previous games (Mario actually goes where I want him to). It's really fun to play, even if you're just jumping around. I really don't have much to complain about. The realistic people are a bit jarring, especially since Mario is so cartoony. But other than that, Odyssey is a solid game, I highly recommend it.

The greatest Super Mario game since Super Mario 64

Super Mario 3D World this is not. While that game was fine for what it was, a 3D course based game, Super Mario Odyssey has an actual story, characters and heart. It's a celebration of Mario's past and shows us how good he can be in the future. At it's core, Mario controls like a dream with his new hat Cappy to help him on the way by taking over enemies to solve puzzles or to act as a springboard for some extra jump distance. You'll be going to loads of new environments and tracking down moons to power your ship to move forward. Of course you'll want to come back to explore even more. If you have any love for Mario and you enjoyed some of the more recent 3D outings, Super Mario Odyssey will be for you.

I've been playing Mario games since Snes and I can tell you this game has been a blast. Many worlds to go through with non-stop platforming for all ages. Plenty of content to keep anyone busy. 9.5/10

Super Mario Odyssey on the Nintendo Switch has been a huge hit in our house. My son absolutely loves it! The colorful worlds, fun characters, and creative levels keep him entertained for hours. It’s easy enough for kids to enjoy, but still challenging in a fun way. He especially loves using Cappy to “capture” different characters. Highly recommend for families with kids — it’s fun, safe, and full of adventure.

Nintendo does it again, they bring Mario to the open world and mix it with nostalgia. Great controls, graphics and content. Camera sometimes gets in the way of gameplay but that's a small con

Mario Odessa for the Nintendo Switch is an absolute gem, offering a fantastic dual-player experience that encourages teamwork or individual play. The game's versatility allows for seamless coordination, making it a great choice for bonding and collaborative fun. Over the 6 months to a year that I've personally invested, the adventure remains engaging, promising a long-lasting gameplay experience that never gets stale. What truly sets Mario Odessa apart is its clever blend of nostalgic Mario game concepts from the older versions. It's a delightful trip down memory lane for long-time fans, while introducing these beloved elements to a new generation. Plus, the option to switch to kid mode ensures that even the little ones can enjoy the magic of Mario without frustration, making it a family-friendly delight. Moreover, just when you think you've conquered all the levels, surprise awaits as new ones appear, keeping the excitement and challenge alive. This constant infusion of fresh content ensures that the game never loses its allure, promising an adventure that's both familiar and wonderfully surprising. Mario Odessa is a must-play, capturing the essence of classic Mario with a delightful modern twist.

I had a lot of fun with this game, but of course, it's Mario. While it gave me more than expected, it also gave me less. Same story, but different setting as usual. The capture ability is cool. The levels are good, but some kind of dull. And like most Mario games, the real challenge shows up later. And it will still have plenty of surprises and stuff to do, even after beating it in just a few hours. I had a good time, and I would recommend it. I'll put it as a 9/10.

I have been playing Mario games almost all of my life. From the NES classics, all the way to now, and I can honestly say that this is one of the best ones to hit store shelves. There's a ton of content, great gameplay, a lot of throwbacks, and mechanics unique to this particular Mario title. My only complaint is that most of the moons are way too easy to get. Platforming is solid, but Mario has so many tricks in his hat now that getting from point A to point B is more about how you want to get there, rather than can you make it there with the right moves and skilled execution. Even with the lack of challenge I had a blast with this title, and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Feels and plays like Mario 64, which is a great thing, but enhanced in every way. If you own a Switch, you need this game. Only issue is that’s it’s probably too easy, but still unbelievably fun.

Super Mario Odyssey does not feel like a sequel to Super Mario 64, as many have suggested, and while it contains numerous references to previous Mario games, it is very much its own experience. Mario controls similarly enough to past 3D Mario games to feel familiar. The cap attacks feel such like a natural addition to Mario's move set that it seems surprising they had never been there before. It would be nice if some of the cap moves did not require motion controls, but that is hardly a deal-breaker. Having the capture mechanic replace nearly all classic Mario power-ups seems an odd choice at first, but makes for much more fun gameplay since using a special power is limited by your ability to use captured creatures rather than waiting to find the right “?” block. The main campaign of Odyssey is great, encouraging you to spend a fair bit of time to get to know each kingdom before you move on to the next, but not requiring you to complete each kingdom's story in any particular order, or collect the non-story-related Power Moons within a kingdom in any order, except that certain areas only become accessible as you progress through the story. Where the game falters somewhat is the post-story content. Where past 3D Mario games, other “collectathon” games, and other open-world games have a variety of things to collect, Odyssey pretty much only has purple coins and Power Moons, and while plenty of Power Moons are rewards for platforming challenges or other fun side quests, many require menial tasks, like throwing your hat at a particular pillar, waiting for a particular animal, or pressing the jump button enough times in a jump rope minigame—tasks that test your patience more than your skill. In this particular respect, TL;DR: Super Mario Odyssey is a new Mario experience that combines Mario's traditional 3D moveset with new mechanics, and a more open world. I might not rate it an 11/10, but I still highly recommend it.

The gaming industry has changed a lot. This game brings absolute fun, not just for adults but also young ones too. Very entertaining. Mario never fails to bring the fun right away. The amount of possibilities of moving around, the open areas, the hat idea is fabulous as well. One of the best selling franchise of all times. It is very hard to hate such an amazing game this is.

No complaints here! I enjoyed every second of this game. From the many different kingdoms you visit, to the nostalgic, yet revamped feel of Mario’s overall mechanics, this game really brought back memories from my childhood with the Nintendo 64. Mario has some of of classic moves such as long jump and backflip, while adding new ones through the use of Cappy. Not only is this game extremely fun, it is challenging! You are rewarded for exploring every nook and cranny of a kingdom with hidden power moons, coins, and kingdom-based coins(tied to that kingdom). Even if you aren’t a Mario fan(who isn’t these days!), this game really stands out from the crowd!
