Customers are saying
Customers love the fantastic gameplay and level design, which are the most frequently praised aspects of the experience. Players also appreciate the fun, accessible controls and the vast amount of content available within the open world. While the game is highly regarded for its performance and story, some users feel the difficulty level is too low and the price point is slightly high.

Story is pretty good and similar to the Mario movie. Recommend!

Excellent Mario adventure
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game is extremely fun. Challenging but easy (is there such a thing???). Mixes new gameplay styles with old, very creative. One example is one moment you're in the 3D world, next you are in a 2D classic style on a wall (don’t worry, it’s not like you are constantly switching from 2D to 3D like in a previous game). Lots of fun activities, graphics are amazing, and collecting the different outfits for Mario to wear is ADDICTING!!!! Can be 2 player, but not in the way you’d expect. First player controls Mario, second controls his hat (the hat plays an important role in how the game is played). My 4.5 year old is still getting the hang of manipulating a controller but when he is controlling the hat it is much easier and he feels he is contributing. Overall extremely satisfied with the game. Honestly I bought this and Breath of the Wild at the same time. I expected BOTW to be incredible, and it is. Odyssey surprised me because I was expecting it to be good, but it far exceeded my expectations, and I got a little distracted from Zelda. Not going to lie... Last note is that it has great replay value. After you initially beat the game, there are still more things to do, more worlds to explore. I went after as many of the items as I could before moving on to the next world. I have to say I was pretty confident I had little left to do. Buuuuut.... once I beat the game, (it told me) there were sooooo many more items to get and things to do!

Same Great Mario
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptical about this Mario game before playing it. Before being released it just had some stuff I didn't think was Mario. Well Nintendo does a nice job of making it feel like Mario. I love how the game feels small and big at the same time and has that Mario 64 feel to it with open levels. It's pretty much the same great gameplay you expect from a first party Nintendo game with some new twists.

Excellent game for any gamer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is the perfect example of how wonderful Super Mario games can be! The game looks gorgeous, plays beautifully, and there's a lot of fun to be found. The game is massive in itself and it's really fun playing on TV and then taking it with you. I was hooked for a solid three weeks before finally finishing the game. This is the perfect family game as well. This is a must own title for the Switch!

Another Great Entry
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Follows the tradition of 3D Mario games started on Nintendo 64, but adds in a globe-trotting story and a mechanic whereby Mario will inhabit various things in the world. Overall, a great experience for all ages. Simple enough for kids as young as 5, but also offers complexity for more seasoned gamers. May not be as impressive as Super Mario Galaxy, but Mario lovers will not go wrong with Odyssey!

Challenging and entertaining fun for everyone
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game can be very challenging but it’s definitely a fun game to play. The puzzles are fun to figure out and platforming is still there like the traditional Mario games. The scenery and graphics to each world are very creative.

Fun for all!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought the game for my son's 5th birthday. He absolutely loves it. And the controls are easy enough that he's actually really good at it. Sometimes he asks for my help at "difficult" parts, and I have a hard time giving the controller back to him. It's a really fun game, the graphics are crazy compared to the games I played when I was a kid! Definitely recommend it for young and old!

Good fun, but hate motion controls
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been playing this game for 10 hrs, never been to big on mario before but i am really enjoying my time just exploring everything because there is a lot of hidden stuff and its done very clever like. My only issue with it is the motion controls. There are a several moves that are either easier to perform or completely locked behind them, but most of these moves dont register right with split joycons, only controllers i have. I mostly play in hanheld mode which actually works better for the motion controls but who likes to shake the screen they are playing on. Most annoying part is that the dpad left and down dont really do anything, both bumpers juat recenter the camera, and 2 of the right joycon buttons are just do the same function as the other 2 so there is no reason for there to be no alternatives for the motion controls but they didnt bother to use them like that.

Game of the Year!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super Mario Odyssey is such a well made game. Just pure fun. It's simple enough that my 3 year old can play it for an hour without feeling like he needs help. But there's enough challenge and charm for me to really enjoy playing it. I'm having to force myself to put the game down and do my adult responsibilities. Haven't felt this excitement for a Mario game since Super Mario World and Mario 64.

The true sequel to great Galaxy games
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mario Odyssey has been a load of fun. It's the reason that I decided to bite the bullet and buy a Nintendo Switch. I was always a fan of Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2 and have been saddened that they did not continue that line of games. Well I'm glad to say that Mario Odyssey is the true successor and has already been endless fun in my home. Get this game if you've got a Switch. You won't regret it.

Nintendo is back!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mario for years has been the gold standard of platforming and I'm happy to say that with Mario Odyssey he's back. This game is not only beautiful the controls are awesome. I typically play in Hand-Held so I can't speak much to the 'motion' controls, but the game runs amazingly well in handheld. If you're a fan of platformers or mario this is a must own game for yoru Nintendo Switch.

SO FUN
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow. One of the best Mario games yet! All of the rave reviews it has received are absolutely warranted -- the game is fantastic. Similar to Breath of the Wild, as you explore each area you'll find something that catches your eye or didn't notice before, so you go investigate and find a puzzle/item/reward of some sort. There's TONS to do in each area. This won't be leaving my Switch for a while!

Spent Countless Hours for All Content
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game I believe is easy to beat but it takes forever to get all 999 moons to finish all the content in the game. This is when you can truly say that you've beaten the game. Graphics are amazing and the gameplay and controls are top notch. From Mario 64 to the Galaxy, i can say that the games have been improving with each successor. I would highly recommend this game for your library.

The best Mario experience since 64!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This year has been a monster year for high quality video games and even with a crowded field of contenders, Super Mario Odyssey may be the best game yet. Mario games have routinely scored high for gameplay and this iteration is no slouch. The cap-tossing and entity-possessing mechanics are a breeze and incredible fun. Each "level" is shaped more like a Super Mario 64 world, with multiple objectives (Power Moons) in the same - very large - world. It's up to the player to puzzle out some of the harder, less-obvious solutions to capture many of these moons. It's a ton of fun, with a very smooth challenge...most moons are not hard to retrieve, but there are enough tricky ones to tempt the 100% completionist. The graphics are wonderful! Colorful, vivid and imaginative in both the background, the worlds themselves and structures therein and the huge variety of monsters and friendly NPCs. This really shows off the Switch's power and color palette much the way Super Mario World did for the SNES all those years ago. The music is typical Mario fare - which is say generally upbeat and fitting to each world to convey a sense of immersion. It's no Lord of the Rings symphony but very pleasant nonetheless. I've greatly enjoyed this game: the length, challenge ramp and joy of playing are exceptional and if you own a Switch, just buy it. If you don't own a Switch...maybe you should.
