This is an awesome game. It seemingly melds all the Mario games into one.

Bright, vibrant world to explore and have fun in, Super Mario Odyssey is pleasing to look at. The idea of sort of "capture" or "possession" mechanic has been seen before, but Odyssey does it best, turning enemies into tools. Unfortunately, the game managed to do so in a way which doesn't make the world at all feel dangerous. The platforming and basic puzzle mechanics never give a challenge and the hunt for moons end up becoming more of a chore than a reward. Controls feel slightly clumsy, a disappointment from Mario's typical tight and fluid movement in past games. Nintendo leaned too heavily in motion controls, leaving anyone that prefers playing with a standard controller feeling like they got left behind. Overall, an enjoyable and charming game, but not without its flaws. A decent platformer, but certainly not the best.

Super Mario Odyssey is a phenomenal game. It's just that I can't really get as into it as much as I want to. I have some issues with the motion controls, but the game is charming and fun and funny. I don't know, maybe my soul is dead.

This is just what my grandson wanted! And, it the good price helps, too!
