First, I want to state that this game is a very good, well made game. The only reason I'm docking it a star is that it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. I beat the main story within a couple days of getting it, but most of the time I just wanted to beat it so I could go back to playing Breath of the Wild which I still haven't beat after at least 120 hours. I am more of a Zelda fan, and I think nostalgia for Mario 64 is the only real reason I bought Mario Odyssey. However, I did enjoy the capture mechanic -- though not as much as I thought I would -- and I loved the 2D bits in the 3D environments. You can tell the developers respect Mario's history and truly put great thought and care into this game. It is technically an excellent game, and if you love Mario or other platformers, you will likely enjoy this game. I guess I just wasn't in the mood for a Mario game at the time I picked up Mario Odyssey. I plan to go back at some point to collect more moons and complete my costume collection, but for now, I'm back in the world of Hyrule.
