Really a blast to play and I usually don't enjoy platformers. Played this with my young daughter, who had so much fun. Great time!

Super Mario Odyssey on the Nintendo Switch has been a huge hit in our house. My son absolutely loves it! The colorful worlds, fun characters, and creative levels keep him entertained for hours. It’s easy enough for kids to enjoy, but still challenging in a fun way. He especially loves using Cappy to “capture” different characters. Highly recommend for families with kids — it’s fun, safe, and full of adventure.

I have always been a fan of Mario games. I've purchased most of them. I have to say this game is awesome. I like that it has more of an open world field with things to explore. Coming from playing Zelda, this game was pretty easy to beat in comparison. Our first run through we were able to beat it with minimal "moons." Then you are able to go back to the worlds and find more moons, and do more challenges. Honestly that's one of my favorite parts because it reminds me of Zelda just a tad. We were adults playing it, with that said, I think it would be challenging for children not used to these games, and a lot of fun. If they have played other Mario Games it will have a similar feel with the controller. We only have tried 2P more once. Both of us didn't like it. I can see cool aspects to it if you get used to it, but it was more annoying for us than helpful.

Got this for my son for his Switch! I grew up playing Mario and he loves it too! The game is fun to play and has all the same Mario characters you know and love with the addition of new themes, characters, and missions.

Very fun game with a equally fun concept. It's definitely Mario 64-esque (which, spoiler alert, this game pays ode to). The only thing I would say is the ease of this game. I finished the story pretty quickly. Other than that, a great game nonetheless.

    Perfect Game for Young Kids

This is the perfect game for kids learning to play video games! My son is 6 years old and just started getting into video games. It is hard for them to navigate a joystick. He and I would play, I would play as Mario and he would play as Cappy. This helped him learn to navigate using a joystick effectively. The game is very fun! Using Cappy to take control of different enemies is a unique game experience that adds variety. The "open world" concept is cool for a Mario game! The only con I can think of is that the camera angle can be frustrating, but that's a minor complaint.

I had a big expectancy for this one. After playing Zelda Breath of the Wild, I was hoping for a big revolution with Mario formula. Mario Odissey wasn't this revolution. It was Nintendo going back to the platformers of the 90s (Banjo KAzooie or Mario 64) with a big bang. And they did a spetacular job. Graphics, music, gameplay. Actually, this is the best controlling Mario ever. It's a bliss to control Mario. My big grip is that Mario Galaxy had a better story and pace. The pace in this game is broken in my opinion. Some time you are going like crazy, than you stop everything to do another map which pace is much slower. And you don't get nothing to prepare yourself for this change. A simple letter from Peach telling something would do wonders. Anyway, I recommend it. It's pretty good, but not amazing 10. Amazing 9.5 is more real.

This game feels and plays like Mario 64, I love the open world and controls. The hat is so much fun and gives alot of added abilities Mario can do. I love searching for all the hidden moons and purchasing the outfits. This game is a must have !!

Best 3D Mario game to Date

I came to this game with lower expectations, i wasn't a huge fan of the previous 3D Mario game. My wife really wanted this one so I got it in order to play with her (which really means, she'll watch as I play the game). I was very happily surprised as to how the game turned out. I was pretty immersed in gameplay and the level design was pretty perfect for my style of gaming. There were some easy challenges, mid level ones, as well as more difficult ones for those seeking more challenging gameplay. There are a plethora of moons to find in the game, and pretty unique kingdoms to explore. The new hat mechanics are a welcome addition to gameplay as well as it freshens up a well beloved franchise which has seen many iterations over time. We had tons of fun with Super Mario Odyssey, and there is still a lot left to do in post game.

Super Mario Odyssey is the latest anticipated 3D platformer from Nintendo that lives up to the Mario series' lofty expectations. The game rolls all the positives of the series together in an excellent blend of platforming fun. There are multiple large worlds to explore with dozens of collectables items in each of them. You'll want to keep exploring these levels with the smooth controls the game gives you in the form of multiple types of walks, runs, jumps, and, thanks to your newest sidekick Cappy, transformations. There's plenty of new things to discover in the game even after you beat the story, making Super Mario Odyssey an easy recommendation. This game really is a must-have for owners of the Switch and both longtime Mario fans and newcomers.

Super Mario Odyssey is a joyful masterpiece that redefines 3D platforming. Bursting with creativity, its vibrant kingdoms brim with clever challenges, hidden secrets, and delightful surprises. Mario’s new pal, Cappy, adds innovative mechanics, making every capture a blast. The visuals pop, the soundtrack soars, and the gameplay is pure, polished fun. A must-play for Switch owners!

The Positives: + Great visuals that run beautifully + Fantastic and imaginative mechanics + Wonderful, catchy soundtrack + Level design is great and creative + The controls are outstanding... The Drawbacks: - ...though some require or are improved by motion control, which can be annoying - Speaking of annoying, the Broodals....just, the Broodals. - A large portion of the game may not present much of a challenge to the experienced Mario player Overview: Honestly, other than some small things, Super Mario Odyssey is an absolutely outstanding game. A must have game for fans of the plumber!

Haven't been in awe of a game since Super Mario 64 when I was a kid. Over 20 years later and now I'm a kid - again. The controls and feel of the game are familiar and tight, but throw in some new concepts like captures (gaining control of a creature lets you use their abilities) and the double hat jump and I can't look at past Mario games the same way. The best part is that this game is so much more open. Instead of getting a star and having to restart to level, you collect power moons and when you pick one up gameplay continues right from that spot. There are 800 moons to collect so you're definitely getting your money's worth. If you enjoy video games at all, particularly platformers, you should own this game. And yes you should buy a Switch for it.

Mario Odyssey is an excellent Mario title! Nintendo proves once again that you don't need top tier graphics to make an exciting and beautiful game. Every location you visit is gorgeous in its own way. The game's use of textures really make every little detail pop out at you. The platforming in the game is the best yet. The controls are tight and collectibles are challenging to obtain at times. You can play the game how you would like to play it. If you just want to beat the game and do the minimum, you're able to, but if you really want to take the time to find every nook and cranny, the game rewards you for that. I can't rave enough about this game. It's very open and, while some locations are linear, you often pick you own path and methods of getting to your destination.
