Amazing game, great replay value. Family fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have completed this game and yet still play it at least a few times a week. I have been an avid Nintendo gamer since long ago, NES and SNES were my first two systems as a kid and left a place in my heart for the world of Mario. My wife plays this game and has never played video games before in her life and is still able to complete the levels (granted a bit slower than I) and enjoys the game despite the frustration that comes with some of the more difficult puzzles/levels. Highly recommend the switch JUST FOR THIS GAME if you are a nintendo cast fan or just need a fun game that is story driven with fun side-quests and customization. This game really brings back memories of Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine, my two personal favorite Mario games.

One of the best Mario games of all time!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super Mario Odyssey is a stunning platformer, and a welcome return to the more open, exploration style of past classics like Super Mario 64 and Sunshine. There are so many great surprises and secrets in the game, and I’m not even close to being finished with the game yet. The soundtrack and visuals are wonderful, the former being among my favorite game soundtracks already. It is a very hard choice for me between this game and Breath of the Wild for GOTY, as I’m sure it will be for many people and media outlets. While ultimately I think Breath of the Wild will be GOTY for me, Odyssey comes awfully close. Quite simply, Odyssey is the best Mario game at least since the Galaxy games, and it’s on its way to surpassing them as my favorite 3D Mario game ever.

What a Joy to play and it only gets better.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I first started to play Mario Odyssey, it took me a while to figure out the controls and as with other Mario games my goal was to beat the game. The journey was wonderful with so many surprises and beautiful 3D and 2D worlds. Beating the game is not very hard, the journey is all smiles. After getting to the end, I took a short break and then a month later started it up again. I was very much surprised by home much fun I was having discovering more and more moons and revisiting kingdoms. With every new moon I was having more and more fun and I am still loving every moment. There are still plenty of moons for me to find and the game difficulty is ramping up and when you are able to finally go though a tough part, it is so satisfying.

Classic and new Mario feel all in one!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this game....has both a classic and new Mario feel all in one. Plays flawlessly, and the new mechanic of cap possession to accomplish many goals is a fun twist! Many might complain that the game is too easy..and on its face value that may be true. If you only collect enough moons to move on you will breese through the game. But if want a challenge push yourself to try to find and then collect tha 900+ moons in the game! This is a way for the game to scale in difficulty without most people noticing, my daughter collects as many as she can and is having a blast. While I push to collect them all as a long time Mario vet and I am having just a much fun! I highly recommend this game for those looking for flawless platforming fun.

Best Mario Game in 15 Years
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is absolutely fantastic. Everything about it is a joy. The worlds are expansive and varied, the sound track is spot on, and the amount of content is excessive. There is a crazy amount of power moons to collect while playing through the game, and the number doubles once you hit post game and further content is unlocked. The hat mechanism in the game is easy to pick up but also hard to master allowing for a lot of individual player skill growth until the player is able to pull off things that you would not even think possible when you first start playing. There are hidden things all over the stages, and the variety of gameplay presented with the possession mechanism is awesome. Highly recommend this game.

Super fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A must have for switch owners. Its lost its difficulty factor from the past marios. But its still a fun game. Beautiful level and finding the moons makes it challenging if you dont use toad or the amiibos.

Amazing game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is going down as a classic. It's is a great Mario game, but it also improves on a lot. For one it's beautiful to look at and has incredible music. For another it introduces a bunch of really cool mechanics -- possession is a neat idea and really fun to experiment with. The controls are super tight as well. I found the platforming was much smoother than previous games (Mario actually goes where I want him to). It's really fun to play, even if you're just jumping around. I really don't have much to complain about. The realistic people are a bit jarring, especially since Mario is so cartoony. But other than that, Odyssey is a solid game, I highly recommend it.

Great game mario odessy
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mario Odessa for the Nintendo Switch is an absolute gem, offering a fantastic dual-player experience that encourages teamwork or individual play. The game's versatility allows for seamless coordination, making it a great choice for bonding and collaborative fun. Over the 6 months to a year that I've personally invested, the adventure remains engaging, promising a long-lasting gameplay experience that never gets stale. What truly sets Mario Odessa apart is its clever blend of nostalgic Mario game concepts from the older versions. It's a delightful trip down memory lane for long-time fans, while introducing these beloved elements to a new generation. Plus, the option to switch to kid mode ensures that even the little ones can enjoy the magic of Mario without frustration, making it a family-friendly delight. Moreover, just when you think you've conquered all the levels, surprise awaits as new ones appear, keeping the excitement and challenge alive. This constant infusion of fresh content ensures that the game never loses its allure, promising an adventure that's both familiar and wonderfully surprising. Mario Odessa is a must-play, capturing the essence of classic Mario with a delightful modern twist.

The greatest Super Mario game since Super Mario 64
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super Mario 3D World this is not. While that game was fine for what it was, a 3D course based game, Super Mario Odyssey has an actual story, characters and heart. It's a celebration of Mario's past and shows us how good he can be in the future. At it's core, Mario controls like a dream with his new hat Cappy to help him on the way by taking over enemies to solve puzzles or to act as a springboard for some extra jump distance. You'll be going to loads of new environments and tracking down moons to power your ship to move forward. Of course you'll want to come back to explore even more. If you have any love for Mario and you enjoyed some of the more recent 3D outings, Super Mario Odyssey will be for you.

Great, but not the best
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a lot of fun with this game, but of course, it's Mario. While it gave me more than expected, it also gave me less. Same story, but different setting as usual. The capture ability is cool. The levels are good, but some kind of dull. And like most Mario games, the real challenge shows up later. And it will still have plenty of surprises and stuff to do, even after beating it in just a few hours. I had a good time, and I would recommend it. I'll put it as a 9/10.

One of the best Mario games.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been playing Mario games almost all of my life. From the NES classics, all the way to now, and I can honestly say that this is one of the best ones to hit store shelves. There's a ton of content, great gameplay, a lot of throwbacks, and mechanics unique to this particular Mario title. My only complaint is that most of the moons are way too easy to get. Platforming is solid, but Mario has so many tricks in his hat now that getting from point A to point B is more about how you want to get there, rather than can you make it there with the right moves and skilled execution. Even with the lack of challenge I had a blast with this title, and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Mario 64 on steroids
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Feels and plays like Mario 64, which is a great thing, but enhanced in every way. If you own a Switch, you need this game. Only issue is that’s it’s probably too easy, but still unbelievably fun.

20 out of 10. Amazing experience.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The gaming industry has changed a lot. This game brings absolute fun, not just for adults but also young ones too. Very entertaining. Mario never fails to bring the fun right away. The amount of possibilities of moving around, the open areas, the hat idea is fabulous as well. One of the best selling franchise of all times. It is very hard to hate such an amazing game this is.

Great game, as expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super Mario Odyssey does not feel like a sequel to Super Mario 64, as many have suggested, and while it contains numerous references to previous Mario games, it is very much its own experience. Mario controls similarly enough to past 3D Mario games to feel familiar. The cap attacks feel such like a natural addition to Mario's move set that it seems surprising they had never been there before. It would be nice if some of the cap moves did not require motion controls, but that is hardly a deal-breaker. Having the capture mechanic replace nearly all classic Mario power-ups seems an odd choice at first, but makes for much more fun gameplay since using a special power is limited by your ability to use captured creatures rather than waiting to find the right “?” block. The main campaign of Odyssey is great, encouraging you to spend a fair bit of time to get to know each kingdom before you move on to the next, but not requiring you to complete each kingdom's story in any particular order, or collect the non-story-related Power Moons within a kingdom in any order, except that certain areas only become accessible as you progress through the story. Where the game falters somewhat is the post-story content. Where past 3D Mario games, other “collectathon” games, and other open-world games have a variety of things to collect, Odyssey pretty much only has purple coins and Power Moons, and while plenty of Power Moons are rewards for platforming challenges or other fun side quests, many require menial tasks, like throwing your hat at a particular pillar, waiting for a particular animal, or pressing the jump button enough times in a jump rope minigame—tasks that test your patience more than your skill. In this particular respect, TL;DR: Super Mario Odyssey is a new Mario experience that combines Mario's traditional 3D moveset with new mechanics, and a more open world. I might not rate it an 11/10, but I still highly recommend it.
