Mario for years has been the gold standard of platforming and I'm happy to say that with Mario Odyssey he's back. This game is not only beautiful the controls are awesome. I typically play in Hand-Held so I can't speak much to the 'motion' controls, but the game runs amazingly well in handheld. If you're a fan of platformers or mario this is a must own game for yoru Nintendo Switch.

This game was a joy to play from start to finish. A tremendous celebration of Mario throughout the years, paying homage and taking strides into a bright future for the 3D line of the franchise. Simple and easy enough for the very young and inexperienced, but complex and mature enough for us seasoned players to enjoy as many hours as we want. Made my son jump with excitement, and made me smile like a 10yr old boy again, reminded of the many reasons we love this franchise. Can’t recommend this enough; a must have for the Nintendo Switch.

Wow. One of the best Mario games yet! All of the rave reviews it has received are absolutely warranted -- the game is fantastic. Similar to Breath of the Wild, as you explore each area you'll find something that catches your eye or didn't notice before, so you go investigate and find a puzzle/item/reward of some sort. There's TONS to do in each area. This won't be leaving my Switch for a while!

The game I believe is easy to beat but it takes forever to get all 999 moons to finish all the content in the game. This is when you can truly say that you've beaten the game. Graphics are amazing and the gameplay and controls are top notch. From Mario 64 to the Galaxy, i can say that the games have been improving with each successor. I would highly recommend this game for your library.

Super Mario Odyssey is nostalgic fun. It’s a way better version of Super Mario 64 without the terrible camera. This game is fun, beautiful, and super light hearted. I had a smile the whole time playing it. There are some challenging parts, but they are optional.

great game worth the buy easy to use and hours of fun

This year has been a monster year for high quality video games and even with a crowded field of contenders, Super Mario Odyssey may be the best game yet. Mario games have routinely scored high for gameplay and this iteration is no slouch. The cap-tossing and entity-possessing mechanics are a breeze and incredible fun. Each "level" is shaped more like a Super Mario 64 world, with multiple objectives (Power Moons) in the same - very large - world. It's up to the player to puzzle out some of the harder, less-obvious solutions to capture many of these moons. It's a ton of fun, with a very smooth challenge...most moons are not hard to retrieve, but there are enough tricky ones to tempt the 100% completionist. The graphics are wonderful! Colorful, vivid and imaginative in both the background, the worlds themselves and structures therein and the huge variety of monsters and friendly NPCs. This really shows off the Switch's power and color palette much the way Super Mario World did for the SNES all those years ago. The music is typical Mario fare - which is say generally upbeat and fitting to each world to convey a sense of immersion. It's no Lord of the Rings symphony but very pleasant nonetheless. I've greatly enjoyed this game: the length, challenge ramp and joy of playing are exceptional and if you own a Switch, just buy it. If you don't own a Switch...maybe you should.

Such a fun game! I thing beats a game of Super Mario Bros!

Mario Odyssey is my favorite 3D Platformer of all time. The amount of creativity, fun gameplay and music makes this a joy to play!

Super Mario Odyssey is easily one of the best games currently released for the Nintendo Switch. The length of the campaign, the depth of the gameplay, the ingenuity of the level design, and the overall charm make this game very well worth it for anyone seeking a true Nintendo experience on their Switch console. Nintendo delivered a very polished, high quality game in Odyssey.

I bought Super Mario Odyssey on the same day I bought my Nintendo Switch Console, it was actually the only game I had for the first few months. I think this is an amazing game, that is more than worth the money! I grew up playing Mario games, and this newest edition to the series is quite a bit different than the games that came before. It is most like the Galaxy series, but has a lot of short 2D sections that through back to the original game. Mario Odyssey isn't a 'true' Open-World game, but it really feels huge, and fun to explore, using a spaceship to travel between locations. A cool feature is the motion controls, which can be used when holding the joy-cons. But I also have enjoyed playing the game in the controller grip, but then you can't use your right hand to throw your cap. After completing the main story, there are a lot of more challenging things to go back and do, as well as an additional world, so it's easy to sink a lot of hours into. Also, graphics are beautiful!

Mario Odyssey easily just became my favorite game to date! It's beautiful to look at, and not stressful to play without being too easy. The challenge and secrets are very well made and designed. The control of Mario is so precise that your joy con and Mario feels as one. This game also showcases how wonderful the joy con vibration is (needs to feel it to see what I'm talking about)

Nintendo has broken the mold with this game. Plenty of completionist content for you after completing the main story, and this game is a true return to what made the original Mario 64, the grandfather of the 3D platformer, such a great game. Awesome visuals, tight controls, and many many hours of addictive gameplay. Of course, now the Jump Up Superstar song is stuck in my head.

This is one of the best Mario games i have played in years. Very cool concept with a bunch of small open mini worlds, its unlike almost all other games I have played. I like super Mario 3D World, mario 64, and of course the original on SNES. This one ranks right up there with these Mario titles, I'm 30 years old so I have played most of these since they where originally released.

One of the best Mario games ever. Brings back the nostalgia of Super Mario 64, but 64 still did it better. Go from Kingdom to Kingdom collect power moons not stars and dress Mario in silly outfits save the princess and maybe get a kiss on the nose and get a cake. Love this game and though controls were hard to pick up at first they are like muscle memory once you get them down.

It is very hard express how enjoyable Super Mario Odyssey is with just words. Nintendo has lovingly crafted an experience that is fantastic from start to finish. Everything feels polished and the world at your fingertips is brimming with things to do and secrets to find. The story is the same as the prototypical Mario story. Your Princess has been captured and it is your job to rescue her but this time with the assistance of your sentient hat Cappy. When I first saw this mechanic in the first trailers, I was very worried it would feel tacked on and hinder the experience but I was delighted to find out that it works seamlessly with Mario's movements. Honestly it is hard to imagine the next Mario game without it. The ability to posses familiar enemies is a blast and each one lends a new gameplay style to use to traverse each Kingdom and solve puzzles. Another fantastic addition to the game are the 2D side scrolling sections. They are a nice callback to the original Super Mario Bros. though the physics are off compared to the NES classic. The game can be complete in a few days and at first that may seem like a negative thing but there is so much more content to dive into. This is one of the few, if only, Mario games with robust post-game content. There is much much more I could cover but honestly it is much sweeter to experience it yourself.

Such a fun game. I love all the Mario games. This one actually took me a WHILE to finish so definitely worth the money. I actually got a few friends to buy the game and they too loved it.
