Best mario game. #1 switch game. I love Mario!!!!!

Mario Odyssey is a wonderful game that will be remembered for years to come. Every time a new 3d Mario comes out, it always seems to be era-defining but I think odyssey is even more so than the others. The new method of movement introduced is one if the best in Mario history and it really benefits from the open world genre. I every nook and every cranny there is a secret to be found and not a second is boring. It's is truly one of the best games of all time.

I've never really been a huge Mario fan (don't dislike the games, just never felt the need to play them) and have never really played any of the 3D titles but I really enjoyed this game. It's a good combination of easy but fun platforming for the main progression and a ton of side and post-game exploration and challenging stuff to collect for folks that are into that. My only real gripe that tempted me to give it 4 stars is that chucks of what you can collect is double locked so you can't just clear each area as you have to go and need to go back once you've beaten the game to fully complete an area. That's probably a good thing for most people though and is more of a personal hangup so I don't think it's worth docking the game a star.

Earlier this year, we were blessed with Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Switch. It was an unbelievable take on one of favorite franchises and easily a game of the year nominee (I still play it regularly today). Never in my wildest dreams did I think that in the Switch's first year, I would be saying the same thing about Mario, another one of my favorite series. This game is a masterpiece. It is so much fun, so well done, and provides some serious competition to Zelda in the GOTY race. Highly recommended to everyone. Also, it is a game that is absolutely amazing to play both on your TV and in handheld mode. Some games I find more fun in one of those modes vs. the other, but Odyssey has been just as enjoyable either way you play it.

Completely worth the hype. A game that any Switch owner, or any gamer foe that matter, shouldn’t miss. New gameplay mechanics are a lot of fun and there is plenty to explore if you want to go off the linear path.

All time classic. A game I can go back to over and over again.

Feels like a combination of the exploration of 64/Sunshine with the creative level design of 3D World in a much larger space. Secrets to find everywhere. Mario controls excellently. Super fun. Highly recommended.

Where do I even begin with this game? This game is the perfection of what Nintendo has been doing great since Super Mario 64. My favorite game of all time was Super Mario 64 and I never thought it would ever be beaten, but then came Super Mario Odyssey. OH MY GOODNESS! Super Mario Odyssey was able to not dethrone, but come in a very close tie for me with Super Mario 64. Super Mario Odyssey is able to feel nostalgic with vibes of Super Mario 64, while still doing its own thing. This game is absolute perfection. If you are a fan of Nintendo, Mario, fun adventures, or just video games in general, then you absolutely must get this game! In my opinion, this game alone makes the Switch worth owning!

Classic after classic made me an early fan of the Super Mario Bros. franchise, and you can add "Super Mario Odyssey" to that list. This is an amazing title offering well over a hundred hours of playing time thanks to a meticulous campaign featuring a wide world as the player progresses and unlocks new areas and perks. One of the key components in making a Mario classic lies in the running and jumping mechanics, which Nintendo does not fail to disappoint in here. I'd highly recommend to any Super Mario Bros. fan, or any gaming family at that. Highly addictive and a joy to play. Cheers!

Super Mario Odyssey is an amazing platformer and one of the best Mario games to come out in recent years. The levels are diverse and the gameplay is top notch. Highly recommended for anyone who has a Switch.

Expertly designed game that keeps your attention the whole time. Imaginative levels, fun challenges, and a whole world of collectables make Odyssey one of the best games of the year, if not the whole generation.

Super Mario Odyssey on the Nintendo Switch is phenomenal. The graphics are crisp, the character animations are fluid, and the game runs at a consistent 60 frames per second. The new gameplay mechanic of using your hat as a weapon and temporarily possessing NPC's to creatively reach goals is very fun. Being awarded Power Moons for your efforts and the little animation that Mario does never gets old. The only gripe I have is that while not "required", some moves can only be done with the JoyCons removed and in your hands a-la Wiimotes. This makes portable play in handheld mode a bit more challenging, but it's still a blast. A definite must-have for any Mario fan and really anyone who owns a Nintendo Switch.

Super Mario Odyssey is in the vein of Super Mario 64 & Super Mario Sunshine, meaning it's a large 3D adventure with nonlinear gameplay. While I enjoyed Mario's outings in recent years, they felt very typical, very linear, and just seemed like cash grabs. Yes, they were good, but they just lacked that special something. Odyssey, on the other hand, feels like it was built from the ground up with a lot of love. As much as I love the old Mario games, I prefer this style of game. Odyssey is, in my opinion, one of the greatest video games ever made. That said, if they make a successor to it, I hope they make the platforming challenges into full levels like in Super Mario 64. The platforming challenges in this game are a tad bit short.

One of the best Mario games of all time. Constantly surprises with fun mechanics and settings. It's easy enough to go through the main story for everyone, but getting 100% completion is a lot more challenging.

This game is the best Mario title since Super Mario 64 came out so many years ago. Controls are tight, the story is simple yet engaging, and gameplay takes full advantage of every trick the Switch has to offer.

This game is amazing, my whole family is fighting over time on the switch. Nintendo had another hit. It reminds me so much of super Mario 64 and it delivers a long, challenging game that delivers and fun story.

This is beyond of my expectation of a Mario game. Although it is not a wide map as Zelda (BOTW), but there's so much hidden things to explore and it is FUN! What are you waiting for? This game is worth it!
