Classic switch game that is a must have to any collection! Mario games are always timeless and this has held up as a great time. Lots of fun levels and challenges to complete.

This game is so fun! I've been enjoying playing with my six year old daughter - we haven't taken it out of the Switch since October. Great level designs, tight controls, all around a wonderful experience. Feels like Mario 64 in terms of being able to explore freely.

Super Mario Odyssey has outstanding game play, story and graphics. The addition of Cappy makes for a new style of game play with plenty of new capabilities. The kingdoms are huge and offer a lot of things to collect such as power moons ,regional coins, outfits and souvenirs. You power up the Odyssey by collecting a minimum number of power moons that allow you to travel. between kingdoms. Each kingdom has plenty of power moons to collect in plain sight while others are hidden or you complete a task or activity. Some warp pipes and doors lead to game fields that range in difficulty. I like that I could decide which I would want to play without sacrificing progress or advancing in the game. This is unlike other Mario games were you could get stuck on a level or not have enough stars to continue beyond. There is even more game play after you defeat Bowser (and it is a lot more relaxing).

Im happy I was finally able to purchase this game! When I say I wasn't ready for the innovation, I really wasn't. Open world Mario is truly the way to go! Hopefully there is a sequel

Best Mario game I've ever played

Super Mario 64 translated an iconic 2D platformer into a 3D world and redefined what a Nintendo experience could be. Super Mario Odyssey takes that a step further, playing around with the concept of an open world (albeit less so than, say, Skyrim or Breath of the Wild) where Mario can discover power moons just in the course of messing around. Yes, there are mini-bosses to fight; yes, there are puzzles to solve and secrets to discover; but there have also been times when I've gone "I wonder what would happen if I..." and have been rewarded for it. Not because there's a puzzle to solve, but because Odyssey rewards exploration and experimentation in a way no Mario game I've previously played has. I've immensely enjoyed every Mario title since Super Mario World in 1990, so I don't say this idly: Odyssey is the most fun I've ever had with Mario.

Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch is a must-play masterpiece. Its innovative "capture" mechanic, using Mario's hat Cappy to control enemies and objects, injects incredible creativity into gameplay and exploration. The diverse and vibrant kingdoms are packed with secrets and collectibles, encouraging you to explore every nook and cranny. While the sheer number of collectibles can feel a bit much at times, the core gameplay is polished, joyful, and constantly surprising. Odyssey is a triumphant reinvention of the 3D Mario formula and a delightful adventure from start to finish.

I have always been a fan of Mario games. I've purchased most of them. I have to say this game is awesome. I like that it has more of an open world field with things to explore. Coming from playing Zelda, this game was pretty easy to beat in comparison. Our first run through we were able to beat it with minimal "moons." Then you are able to go back to the worlds and find more moons, and do more challenges. Honestly that's one of my favorite parts because it reminds me of Zelda just a tad. We were adults playing it, with that said, I think it would be challenging for children not used to these games, and a lot of fun. If they have played other Mario Games it will have a similar feel with the controller. We only have tried 2P more once. Both of us didn't like it. I can see cool aspects to it if you get used to it, but it was more annoying for us than helpful.

Very fun game with a equally fun concept. It's definitely Mario 64-esque (which, spoiler alert, this game pays ode to). The only thing I would say is the ease of this game. I finished the story pretty quickly. Other than that, a great game nonetheless.

I had a big expectancy for this one. After playing Zelda Breath of the Wild, I was hoping for a big revolution with Mario formula. Mario Odissey wasn't this revolution. It was Nintendo going back to the platformers of the 90s (Banjo KAzooie or Mario 64) with a big bang. And they did a spetacular job. Graphics, music, gameplay. Actually, this is the best controlling Mario ever. It's a bliss to control Mario. My big grip is that Mario Galaxy had a better story and pace. The pace in this game is broken in my opinion. Some time you are going like crazy, than you stop everything to do another map which pace is much slower. And you don't get nothing to prepare yourself for this change. A simple letter from Peach telling something would do wonders. Anyway, I recommend it. It's pretty good, but not amazing 10. Amazing 9.5 is more real.

Super Mario Odyssey has been a huge hit for my 4 year old. The colorful worlds and fun characters keep him completely engaged, and the gameplay is easy enough for him to enjoy while still offering plenty to explore. He loves discovering new areas, collecting moons, and jumping into each new adventure. It is fun, imaginative, and perfect for young players. Seeing how excited he gets every time he plays makes it worth every penny.

Best 3D Mario game to Date

I came to this game with lower expectations, i wasn't a huge fan of the previous 3D Mario game. My wife really wanted this one so I got it in order to play with her (which really means, she'll watch as I play the game). I was very happily surprised as to how the game turned out. I was pretty immersed in gameplay and the level design was pretty perfect for my style of gaming. There were some easy challenges, mid level ones, as well as more difficult ones for those seeking more challenging gameplay. There are a plethora of moons to find in the game, and pretty unique kingdoms to explore. The new hat mechanics are a welcome addition to gameplay as well as it freshens up a well beloved franchise which has seen many iterations over time. We had tons of fun with Super Mario Odyssey, and there is still a lot left to do in post game.
