    Everything I wanted

Mario Odyssey is everything that I wanted it to be. I have seen a couple of people complain that the game is a little too easy, and while that may be the case, the game was probably not designed for gamers in their 30s, but probably for children. So maybe let's all just calm down. Everything else about the game is amazing.

The game is really good, super fun, plays greats, and looks fantastic. The hat mascot really add a new dimensions to the Mario game play, and the different environments are really creative. My only complains are that the camera are kind of wonky sometimes, game is too easy, and it does get a little repetitive after awhile.

As creative as Mario Galaxy was, I love the gameplay mechanics of this new adventure. I've always loved Mega Man for the ability to acquire your enemies' weapons, and Odyssey takes that to another level. If you know nothing about this game, your hat gives you the ability to become several of the enemies in the game, as well as objects in the environments. This means that the gameplay is constantly changing as you discover all of the many transformations available to you. Discovering each one is necessary to discover the hundreds of moons located throughout the 16 worlds that you can travel between. Collecting some moons are necessary to finish the story, but the rest get you exploring every inch of the maps. They're not just scattered about like most collectibles in games, but most are hidden behind specific tasks that must be completed or secret locations that must be discovered. Just when you think you've found them all in a level and there can't possibly be anymore, you can check a list that shows there are still twenty left to find. Everything about this game is clever, and the gameplay does not get stale.

Pure Mario fun, lots of creative levels. Kids and adults can enjoy this great game. The levels get harder as the game progresses. Having a Peach and Mario amiibo makes the game easier. The Luigi's Ballon Chase game that you unlock after beating the first part of the game is a great addition to an already great game.

One of the best in Mario series in my opinion. It is easy to play as my youngest son has no trouble playing on his own and I do not have to worry about unappropriated contents playing this game. The hat thing makes it very unique to this game. Big applause for the team that keep inventing new ways to play

The graphics are actually really good for a Nintendo game. They really know what they're doing with stylized art instead of pushing realism. The sound has some of the best original game scores that keep you entertained level to level without ever feeling obnoxious . Mario has lots of fun outfits to collect. Some specific to a level that's purchased with special coins for that level, and some you buy with normal coins you collect through out the game. The game it self has a VAST variety of activities such as collecting moons to power your ship to get to the next level, collecting coins for out fits, finding secretes, winning races, solving puzzles, and possessing just about any creature you encounter. Odyssey makes sure your never too punished by just taking away some coins if you die, and there are plenty of check point/fast travel points all over. Some of my favorite moments are the 2d Mario platformer portions they have sprinkled throughout the game. Mario has basically his entire move set from Mario 64 with did tweaks, changes, and additions of course. Over all this game is a must buy if you own a switch!

While the story is still just a generic Bowser kidnaps Peach storyline we’re all used to by this point, does anyone play Mario for the story anymore? Which is why all of the charm of this game comes from actually playing it. The controls are as smooth as ever and is probably the best Mario has controlled in a 3D space. The worlds are open and make you want to explore every inch of it. And the game rewards you for doing so. The new capturing mechanic leads to some fun puzzles to solve or some really fun platforming sections. The costumes from the shop are all references to Nintendo and Mario history (for the most part) and all just add to the charm of the game. And the adventure continues even after the story is done, but I won’t say anymore about that here. This game is quite possibly the best 3D Mario game Nintendo has made and it deserves all of the praise it gets. If you like Mario and have a Switch, you owe it to yourself to play this game. It will not disappoint.

This game blew me away. Taking inspiration from older Mario titles, it puts everything together into a stunning modern Mario title that feels fresh and familiar at the same time. Mario Odyssey has it all: plenty of content, ultra responsive gameplay controls, wonderful music, and just plain fun. An absolute joy to play.

As of writing this review, I've owned a Nintendo Switch for three years, almost to the day. I've held off on buying this game due to my lack of affinity for 3-D Mario titles, opting for Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe instead (another stellar title, by the way). After buying, playing, and really enjoying Super Mario 3-D World/Bowser's Fury, I decided to give Super Mario Odyssey a shot. Please tell me why I waited SO long to purchase this game? This game is PHENOMENAL! It takes all of the elements from both 2-D and 3-D Mario titles and combines them to make a Mario title on par with Super Mario Bros. 3, and that is saying something! Just by the game. If you have a Nintendo Switch, BUY IT! If you don't have a Switch, BUY IT ANYWAY! It's just that good!

From the first second I picked it up I knew it was going to be amazing! I instantly was transported back to 1997 when I played Mario 64! The game doesn't disappoint at all. So much creativity went into the making of this game! It looks fantastic, the controls are perfect and there are so many hidden treasures to find!

It’s hard to put into words how great this game ... I mean adventure is! Hours and hours of gameplay even after you complete the final stage. Controls are like butter and the graphics are sharp vibrant and colorful. I never thought I see the day Super Mario 64 can be topped and that day has come. Must buy for anyone!

Amazing game!! I can spend hours and hours playing this game without getting bored. It’s the same story Browser kidnapped Peach and Mario goes to the rescue but with Cappy it’s so much fun. I definitely think this is one of my top 3 for the Switch.

This is a great open world and it comes with my favorite game character Mario! Not too easy but not too hard, this game was fun enough that no matter how many times I fell or died, it was still worth playing again and again. Super glad I bought this game. I can tell it's gonna be a keeper.

This game picks up where Mario 64 left off. It takes today's graphics and technology, and adds just enough new game play to appeal to kids and adults alike. The game itself is pretty easy, but the challenge is to find all the moons hidden in so many nooks and crannies. If you own a Switch, you MUST own this game!

Open world Mario game similar to Super Mario 64. Instead of collecting stars, you are collecting moons that require solving all types of puzzles and beating bosses. Though the story for the game can be completed early, there are enough activities that brig you back to complete all the side journeys and adventures.

This game is the best 3D Mario I have played since it all started with Mario 64. Story is great and gameplay is awesome. Levels are simple if you just do the minimum to get through, but challenging to 100%. Love the movement mechanics with Cappy, he gives you so much freedom to complete the level how you want.

After Breath of the Wild set the gold standard of quality for Switch software, Mario had the deck stacked against him. However in this epic adventure aboard the airship Odyssey with your newest ally Cappy you're in for an unforgettable experience. Great for all ages, easy to play, but with great room to master!

Overall I am not really a “Mario Guy”, I haven’t played a Mario game since the N64. When I tell you this game is an incredible must have for anyone even remotely interested in “fun”, I mean it. Great looking for a Switch game, excellent controls and intuitive design, if you own a Switch this is a no brainer!

Definitely mario back on track - mix of clever areas, timing / complex moves, and general goodness. Beating the main game is a little on the easy side - only struggled in one or two areas, but finding all moons takes quite a bit of effort and is well worth it. Didn't expect it to suck me in as much as it did!!

It's been a long time since Nintendo has released a Mario game that emphasized exploration over linear challenge courses. Mario Galaxy was a fantastic game but fell short in that regard. Mario Odyssey on the other hand nails the sandbox exploration gameplay perfectly. There's always something new to discover around the corner. The controls are tight and responsive, and you can ignore the less precise motion controls for the most part. Visually the game looks stunning, though a few of the worlds emphasize realism over Mario's signature cartoon aesthetic which I feel hinders the overall cohesion of the art style which could have been even more outstanding if it didn't feel like you had somehow took a wrong turn and wandered into a different game. But perhaps that's the point? Regardless, this is probably one of the best games Nintendo has ever made. No nickle and dime microtransactions or season passes or loot boxes. Just a game that wants to take you on an adventure and have a good time.
