Awesome family game!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son and I have had a ton of fun working our way through the levels on this game. It does provide the option of 2 players, the second player has limited functionality as a flying hat but with my 7 year old he loves being the hat. My wife who has never played video games recently started playing as well. Highly recommend for those of you with fond memories of Mario world on the original nintendo, this is is a whole new level of mario fun.

Nearly perfect
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easily the best Mario since Galaxy and Galaxy 2, and possibly better. It's hard not to smile when exploring the many worlds Odyssey has to offer. The game is massive and will surprise you with new ideas at every turn. It only scratches the surface of the potential it offers through its incredible movement system. A sequel can't come soon enough. A few of the moons you're tasked to find are a little uninspired, but considering there are over 800 to seek out, that's not much of a complaint. I can't recommend it enough.

A decent return to form for a classic character.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It has been a long time since I've played a Mario title of this sort. I skipped an entire console generation of the Wii, and only got the Wii U at the end of it's cycle. So my last Mario title of this sort, was Sunshine on the Gamecube. That being said, the game is very familiar coming from the memories of Sunshine on the Gamecube. Even at times having some interesting little throw backs to it. There is a lot more freedom in this game to slow down, admire the scenery, and explore. There are some little issues I have had with the games "advanced controls". They decided to make use of motion controls with the joycon controllers for some little advanced abilities. Some of which can still be activated with normal controls, but not easily as a quick joycon movement. Those controls so far have been entirely optional, and haven't ruined my enjoyment of the game, but was still a minor annoyance feeling barred from them when I play without using 2 free floating joycons, which just feels alien to me personally. All in all, the game so far has been great. Plenty to do, a lot to explore in typical Mario fashion. The motion controls just seem like a wonky gimmick addition to me.

Best Mario Game to Date!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my favorite mario game to date. The game has so many new mechanics and brings me back to the classic Super Mario. It brings elements from past games like the 8-bit Mario and Super Mario Sunshine! It advances the open world-feel experience with sharp and vibrant color. The Co-op multiplayer is a great addition. As Cappy, you fell like your own character and provides actual help you can't get when playing single player. Overall the game is a great and wonderful experience that easily lands 15+ hours of fun.

Familiar gameplay with new mechanics
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ever since the Mario Galaxy games and Sunshine Mario before that, all of the Mario games have felt like bland reboots of older versions. With Mario Odyssey I would say that there is new life in the series. The gameplay feels familiar and new at the same time. I like the options of playing in handheld, tabletop or tv mode. Although, if you really want to play the game as the designers intended, you need to play tabletop or tv mode with a joycon in each hand. The game will remind you of what you are missing out on with pop-ups if you choose to play in handheld mode. I have played the majority of the game in handheld mode, and I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. The fun for me has been exploring each kingdom looking for all the secrets.

Solid Return to Open World
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, it's a lot of fun. This game marks a return to open-world format like Mario 64 and Sunshine vs individual levels. I like the change, which accompanies Zelda's change this generation and I also think it will make for good speed run routing in the future. The graphics are great, the amount of things you can control is a lot, so much so that you just end up trying everything. Co-op mode feels a lot like Sonic 2 where Player 2 (Cappy / Tails) is OP and invincible and does all the work.

Just plain fun
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a fast-paced game with fun controls. Mario and his world look better than ever. With a move set pulled straight from Super Mario 64 (with a few delightful twists and additions), traveling from kingdom to kingdom is a joy both aesthetically and functionally. Play at your pace and explore to no end. I had high expectations, and it’s still blowing me away. 5 stars for sure!

Amazing 3D Mario Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the best Mario games since Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2. This game is amazing. There is a return to a large hub world that is open to you, almost like the old Delfino Plaza and Peach's Castle in Mario 64. I like this better than the level select options of the Galaxy games. Additionally, Cappy is a unique partner and the first time you take over a T-rex will be very exciting. Overall, this is one of the most fun games I have played in a long, long while.

Another Mario Masterpiece
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great game all around for casual and hardcore players . Joy-con controls are okay gets to be a bit much. Played mostly with pro controller which offered tighter controls. Tons of replability as beating last world unlocks more to do. If you have a young one or a second person around they can control the hat which resulted in some hilarious moments for me. Fun game, tight controls, great platforming and gorgeous game must buy for switch owners

Pure Joy... The Mario Game that everyone wanted.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is impossible to play this game without a smile on your face. Very well done, environments are gorgeous (By Nintendo MARIO standards... of course PS4 Pro and Xbone X make these laughable). Game runs smooth as butter in handheld and docked both at 60fps which is a very big deal because it means that I have yet encountered a framrate lul and I have played for hours on end. Impressive game all round manages to pay homage and stay fresh. Best 60 you can spend for the Switch.

Great Fun!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great game that's safe for all ages, providing hours of family fun. It reminds me of a bit of Mario Galaxy. There is some disappointment if you are expecting more of the classic feel, but it throws in a few surprises. I can play for about 1-2 hours before finding it extremely repetitive and needing a break. It is someone lacking in the bad guy content, there are not a lot of Goombas to smash and Turtles to Kick. And, the Boss battles were designed primarily with children in mind (Target Audience). Sometimes you find yourself wondering around a lot of wide open spaces (No pun intended Adults ;P), running to the next object every little while gets old. But, these spaces and levels are visually pleasing and have some wonderful graphics. Plus, there is a horde of mini games along the way, almost too many sometimes, definitely designed for the Adderall generation. Overall this is a fun game that I highly recommend to any age, whether entertaining the kids, having family fun, or for nostalgia's sake it is a lot of fun, what Mario is all about.

Moments away from you're best game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has got to be one of the best games out there right now. If you love the Mario character and even more if you're returning to gaming. This system and game are great together. The game is not to hard however is challenging and always changing up scenery, and different courses. I really enjoy this game for the clarity, perfect picture, music sounds. I can send hours with this game either on the hand held counsel or switched on to y TV set.

Best mario game since Mario 64 and sunshine
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Think Mario 64 except more open-world with new innovative controls and mechanics there are more amazing platforming best 3d Mario game to date your hat is your weapon and it talks which is pretty cool you can buy tons of outfits with coins you collect hours upon hours of gameplay its completely worth the 60 bucks Nintendo has done it again if you yearn for the days of Mario 64 and the Golden Age of Gaming this is the game for you 10 out of 10 worth every penny

Nintendo strikes again
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a little worried that the hype that this game was receiving was going to be way overblown and the game not live up to it but I'm so glad I was wrong. It feels like a subtle blend of Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy in play style. The levels are really enjoyable and Nintendo has, like with BotW, made the game where you can tinker around with doing things in odd ways and it pay off. Side note, the best way to play to me might have to be joycon in each hand.

You ought'a see Odyssey
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game brings back memories and feelings that only come with the greatest Mario releases. This title is right up there with the best of them: Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Mario 64, and Galaxy 1/2. The game mechanics feel fresh and inspiring. I could not put the controller down. Just one more moon.... and then just one more after that... and before you know it, it's been 12 moons and on to the next kingdom. A definite must-buy for all switch owners.
