I've played almost all of the Mario Party games and they did an amazing job on the Switch version. I wasn't really a fan of the last that launched on Wii U and was very unsure about getting this one. Glad I took the chance! They addressed all the issues from the last and being even more creative with the game boards and the controllers. This is a must to play with your group of friends.

Mario Party just doesn't feel the same. Only 3 small boards to choose from with one hidden unlockable board. This entry feels uninspired and lacks a certain finess that other titles brought to the table. The mini games are decent, and the other modes like team battles are a hit and miss. Maybe its just the nostalgia. Wasn't impressed.

Haven’t played a Mario party in years! Played as a 1 player to try it out when it arrived & it was great. Comes with 4 modes. The Mario party, partner party, sound stage, & river survival. Played the Mario party mode & enjoyed it a lot. I think it would be better with a big group though. Great purchase especially when you can find it on sale!

Mario Party is Returning to Form

Finally a Mario Party is getting back to what made it so great in the first place. This game has tons of mini games and plenty of content to keep you interested for many play sessions. My only complaint about this game and what prevents it from being a 5 Star game is the lack of game boards included. It only comes with three to play initially with the ability to unlock a 4th through gameplay. Now these boards can technically be played in two different styles kind of making it have 8 board options, but it still fells very limited. I would happily pay for DLC board if they were to be released in the future.

I've been a Mario Party fan since the original came out on the N64 way back when. Over the years there have been a lot of changes, many of them not for the better. This latest version of the game feels like it's going back to the roots of just sitting down to have fun with friends--without any gimmicks or convoluted story lines. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this one to add to your Switch library

When I first played it, I was playing by myself (and the CPU) and it was still super fun! So with my friends we are going to have a blast. There’s more to do than just the fun board game style. I really enjoy the River option where you all work together. And I love the dance off challenge as well. Anyways it’s a great game and I don’t really have any complaints so far.

The new Mario Super Party is amazing. Great for all ages. The game has a similar gameplay style to the original N64 games which is a big bonus. Some new features include, hidden boxes, new power ups/candies and different dice combinations based on each character which is a pretty cool feature. There are a ton of new characters and the mini games are very enjoyable to play with the JoyCon controller.

one of the better mario party games

I still believe mario party 8 (i have only played post gamecube mario party games) is one of the best if not the best mario party game made every. That said, this one has to be up there for contention. Your character actually matters for better or for worse with character dice which is actually a nice touch of strategery. Plenty of game modes and inventive use of joycon makes it a must get party game (rhythmn games are a great addition). That said, if you don't have people to play with you may find yourself bored out of your mind but you shouldn't be playing a game with "party" in its title alone =P.

    Fun offline, online is lacking

Typical Mario Party, very fun mini-games and great party game for having someone to play with. Could also see this being a good 'girlfriend game'. The online play is very lacking however, which is starting to become a trend with Switch in my experience. Very limited game mode as of Jan 4 2019, with only being able to play 5 mini games, no 'game board' mode, and can't bring a co-op party member to play against random people online - only a full group of friends. It's fun if you just want to play the couch or local mode, but if you're picking this up for mostly online play I would reconsider.

This is a much better game than some of the recent installments, has a much closer feel to the popular GameCube parties. The only thing to be desired here would be more boards. The game itself is fun and can be played individually or with a party. Would like to see the ability to have more people play since switches can be linked to play together so a total of 8 would make more of a party than 4.

I picked this up for 35 last week and man I actually regret not buying this on day 1! I should’ve pre-ordered it to get the $10 gift and I should’ve gone with the bundle that included a pair of joy cons. This game is a total hoot! But it’s a definite multiplayer game, unless you’re a completionist this game must be played with friends or family. Give it a try you won’t regret it!

The highest praise I can give to this game is that it felt like one of the originals that I loved. I know a few of them in the middle somewhere were very different for how they played, but you went around a game board with mini games in the middle in this one. Everything felt polished, and it's easy to get 4 player going. Especially as a game to play with friends and family, this is a good one.

I'm not sure if Nintendo is planning on releasing more boards online, but there are only four game boards, total (simplified from previous versions). It kind of gets old as the boards aren't that big. The mini games are fun and graphics are good. There is also the customized dice block option for each character, which is new for me. Users have the option to connect an additional Switch console for more content options. Overall, I feel this is more enjoyable with multiple players.
