I hate fine print. Yes, the package says it requires joy-con and that there is no pro controller support, but why would I know to look for information like that on the packaging? I'm actually very disappointed in Nintendo for disabling support for pro controllers. I was hoping to play this possibly with up to 4 people in my household, however I'm limited to 2 because I didn't read the fine print. The game uses motion controls here and there, but I haven't seen anything that should REQUIRE a joycon so far. Ok, so the game itself... is average. I haven't played Mario Party since the first game, and this one is definitely not as fun, especially for my 6-year-old. The boards are small. The games are won by collecting stars, and the place to collect the star moves forward so that whoever is in the lead seems to be the one to get the most stars. But then there are the awards at the end of the game which can make someone come back from behind and win. There are items to steal a star, steal coins, nerf someone's dice roll, boost your own dice roll, give you coins, etc. We'll play some more, for certain, but this isn't nearly as fun as I thought it would be, and I'm glad I got it on sale. It's definitely not worth full price when there are so many other great games out there.

Super Mario party can only be played with the joycons and there's something of an interactive menu. Not as good as previous installments, but fun just the same.

bought this for the grand kids to play on those less than sunny days.they seem to in joy playing

Minigames are the only things available when playing online. The main board can only be played offline. That aside, the game is fun to play.
