Step in the right direction

Each player now can control their own character instead of riding a kart with the rest. The mini games are fun and make great use of the joycons. The boards are very linear, however, and need more variety and surprises. It’s very much a grid and doesn’t have the depth of the boards in previous entries.

A good party game, few caveats

This is one of the better entries in the series but a few things for us keep it from being great. The primary issue is the diagrams for how to hold the controls and for the motions (especially the thumbs up). They don't match up well to what you are actually doing. That's surprising coming from a first party Nintendo game. They usually have excellent diagrams. It's leaving the kids at time flustered.
