Now that the long awaited Super Smash Brothers Brawl has been out for awhile, I can give it a fair review. The first thing I noticed when playing the game was that there were four different control options. Since I played Super Smash Brothers Melee for about 200 hours I have been using the gamecube controller. The controls haven't changed a bit which (for me) is great, I loved melee's controls. If you don't like the default controls you can create a nickname and customize the controls so that whenever you play with that nickname your customized controls are in effect. The graphics are spectacular for the wii, there just downright amazing. The only complaint I have is that when you aren't up close to your character they can look a little jagged, but that is a total nitpick. The music in Brawl is also amazing featuring basically every theme song as well as backround noises that you can imagine. There are mainly songs from the characters actual games but even that is an enormous selection. There are even a few original and modified songs. The character selection is immense with a total of 37 characters each requiring different skills and strategy. There is a total of 38 stages each with unique twists and turns. There is a shallow stage editor with few parts to start with but you can unlock others. Even after you have unlocked all the parts there are still not very many parts. You can build a variety of stages however. There is a learning curve, you won't actually build a good stage until you've built about 5 stages. The local multiplayer is as fun as ever with timed, stock, coin, and bonus brawl. There is also a custom brawl that is wacky but fun with many options. The online play was probably the most looked forward-to part of brawl. When you play with a friend the connection is fairly good, but there is occaisional lag. Random online play has lots of lag. The lag really destroys the experience because lag can give other players a chance to see what you are doing and give them time to dodge a oncoming attack. There are two singleplayer modes this time around Classic and The Subspace Emissary. Classic is basically the same as in Super Smash Brothers Melee and just as fun. The Subspace Emissary however is a modified Adventure Mode. The TSE (The Subspace Emissary) is a story about how all the characters meet up and fight this big bad guy to save the world from turning into subspace. You play through a series of boring and repitive missions throughout. The good part of TSE is how the story moves forward, which is by amazing cut-scenes. The animation in the cut-scenes are the best I've seen on the wii and sets the bar for future cut-scenes on the wii. Super Smash Brothers Brawl offers great graphics, music, controls, character selection, & stage selection. Super Smash Brothers Brawl has great multi-player action offline and some online. The single-player isn't great but can give you something to do when your friends can't play you online or offline. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being perfect and 1 being horrible) Super Smash Brothers Brawl gets a 9.3 out of 10.

Ive loved all the smash bros games and this one looks like it will be the best. It has a ton of new characters, like sonic and solid snake which will make it much more interesting, and the graphics on the characters are amazing. Theres also a ton of unique stages that are destructible by the player, which means you can go smashing through walls and floors. And if thats not enough, you can create your own level. Last, you can play online against people all over the world so you always have someone to play against. Overall it will be one of the best games of 2008

I bought this to play with my 6 year old son. I should have done more research. While I applaud the interesting / creative level choices, I mostly found myself confused by the game play. I wasn't clear why my characters kept changing or who I would be controlling next. In addition, some of the scenery is distracting and the characters are sometimes difficult to see. I'm not an old man, and I play this game on a 51 inch screen but the characters are not prominently displayed. This is simply too much going during game play to truly enjoy.

This game is a huge improvement to the super smash brothers melee. The characters are even better in this game. I like how Nintendo brought back the old melee stages. The storyline was quite fun and had a good challenge to it. Any super smash brothers fan should buy this for the ultimate wombo combo!

best one yet i mean theres the one on N64 , Game cube and now Wii.You could'nt hope for anything better then this.Nintendo gave u all the loved classic characters well managing to mix in the greatest of new ones. some new Items where added to make anyone win. first there is the Brawl witch gives your character his/her special power. Now with always up ready to play online mode play with friends family and complete strangers..... have up to four people in one match.there is no lag on online play making it very good. You can use and master 4 styles of playing sideways remote, Game cube controller ( same controls as melee ) , and Wii Classic controller . New storie modes with great game play. takes days to beat but you will never get bored. You can now more easily understand game modes when u first begin.Good for all ages except toddlers.Cant get much better then this. Graphics improved greatly since melee making for nicer game play.Anyone who likes fighting games will love this well still adding a bit of adventure in storie

    Super Smash Brothers Legacy Continues

What can I say other than Nintendo has done it again? I've played SSB for N64 and SSB Melee for GameCube. I would say this has to be in the top 3 multiplayer games for Nintendo Wii. It makes perfect for a party and I think it would be fun to use in a tournament. SSB gives the gamer many choices in character selection. I've noticed the addition of Sonic (of course you have to unlock him). This game also has over 15 fighting stages to choose from and brings back some of the stages from Melee. If I can say anything, then it's to add more original stages. Also, SSB Brawl has a variety of CPU difficulty. Instead of the usual easy, medium, and hard, the gamer can choose between a level 1 (easiest) and level 10 (hardest). If you are playing alone, you can either chose to do the storyline or fight on a level against one, two, or three other CPUs. Multiplayer choices include a free-for-all or team battle. I assume this is rated Teen because of violence; however, there isn't any gore and just about all characters are originally from Nintendo, so I don't see why children shouldn't play. I HIGHLY recommend making this game an addition to anyone's gaming library.

Best Game I've ever played on the Wii

This game is the best game I've ever played in my life!!! In the game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, players basically fight or team up and fight one another. This game can be played with 4 players and the game's format is seperated in modes. Some modes in the game are Brawl mode, The Subspace Emissary mode, Classic mode, and many more. In Brawl mode, players choose which characters they want to be and choose a stage to fight on. Some characters that you can choose are Mario, Kirby, Link, Princess Peach, and others. When you first start, you have only a little variety of characters to choose from. However, you can gain hidden characters in the game by playing in The Subspace Emissary mode. In the Subspace Emissary mode, 2 players have to work together to pass through obstacles, destroy enemies, and have to clear levels. This mode is in the format of a storyline, so you'll see cutscenes when you complete a level. Classic mode is when you must clear different levels by defeating enemies. Unlike The Subspace Emissary mode, Classic mode does not follow a storyline format. This game is great for teens and adults, has no bad words, has a fun atmosphere in it, and is fun to play with friends or just yourself. Although this is a great game for teens and adults, parents with children under 12 should be advised that there are lots of violence and weapons. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who's looking for a great fighting game that is fun to play with friends or by yourself, has a fun atmosphere, has different varieties of modes to play, and is great to play at any age

    Best Wii game purchased

This game was the BEST game i have purchased for the wii. The controller variation is great also. It takes a little time to get used to the controls, but it is awesome once you get the hang of it. The new characters are great, and the online play is fun. They also added a subspace emissary(story mode). The online play does lag sometimes, depending on the connection. You get used to the lag after awhile though. All in all, great product and tons of fun.

    Best Wii game ever

This is the best Wii game, no, the best game EVER! There are so many things to do on here, and the graphics are so good. The characters have powers, and the famous Mario is so cool on this game. The adventure play takes a while, but you can stop after a certain period of time. My personal favorite game on here is the multiplayer brawl. The CD does not scratch and it is enclosed in a strong case. I find nothing negative about this game.

    An Awesome Game

Super Smash Brothers Brawl is one of the most anticipated titles of the year for the Nintendo Wii. It definitely lives up to it's hype. In the dying genre of fighting games this is the one that continues to survive. SSBB has more characters, a ton of new levels, and a new single player mode that is expansive compared to Melee. Overall this game is graphically impressive and offers great gameplay. The controls are up to your preference as the Wiimote and Nunchuck work well, but you can also use the Gamecube controller if that's what you are used to. Both choices work well. I have not found any flaws in the game so far as it has just recently come out. However I will add Nintendo's use of friend codes makes it difficult to add online friends to play SSBB against online. Also the speed of the matchmaking system online needs some improvement. Also there have been reports of some of the disc not working and giving disc read errors. I myself have not experienced this problem. However Nintendo.com is offering to fix any problems free of charge. Despite these small problems I highly recommend this game to any Nintendo Wii owner as it is the game of the year for the Wii.

WEE!!!!!! Amazing game. Looks pretty, feels great, and has SO many features. I won't ruin the secrets in the game, but let's just say there's a lot to accomplish. Characters are all versatile and unique. The one problem is that playing with the Wii remote is way different from the GCN controller, so let's hope you didn't sell your Cube!

From characters to stages, this game provides so many choices! Getting to know which button is which can be challenging while you are fighting; nevertheless, this game is great! My kids really love playing against each other and making their own stages.

This was quite possibly the most anticipated game on the Wii, and it didn't disappoint. The graphics are well, done with gameplay that flows evenly when using the classic or gamecube controller. (if you don't have one of these the game isn't worth playing.) I don't think that anyone was mad at seeing Solid Snake in the line up and I thought his character was done tastefully. It was a breath of fresh air to find a game on the Wii that supports online play, the one thing that was a drawback with this game is that the online play was a little less smooth at times than I would have liked but to be honest the fact that it has online play is a victory in itself, all in all a great game, if you liked the predecessors or just want a new party game for the Wii, it's a great buy.
