Excellent must have game for the Nintendo switch and switch lite. With a vast roster of characters the catalog reaches to other franchises like Final fantasy, Metal Gear, Megamall, CastleVania and many many more. Fun fast action. Easy to play hard to master.

ALL 63 characters* from past Smash Brothers game are included in this game +6 brand new characters +5 new echo fighters, +6 DLC characters** (not yet released). -New characters include: Inkling (Splatoon Series) Ridley (Metroid) King K. Rool (Donkey Kong) Isabelle (Animal Crossing) Incineroar (Pokemon) Simon (Castlevania) -New Echo Fighters. Echo fighters are essentially clones of original fighters with slightly change stats like different attack, defense, speed and special moves. Think Falco, Dark Pit and Lucina for example. Daisy (Echo of Peach) Richter (Simon) Dark Samus (Samus) Chrom (Roy) Ken (Ryu) You start off with original 8 characters from the very first Smash Bros game and have to unlock the others. *63 if you count pokemon trainer and thier pokemon as one character; otherwise it's 65. No more choosing Lucario and imagining he's Mewtwo, one-time guest characters like Snake makes a return, and ice climbers are not excluded due to hardware limitations, DLC characters in Smash 4 like Ryu, Bayonetta are now part of main roster, etc. ** DLC includes: Piranha Plant Joker (Persona 5) +4 unannounced fighters DLC Come in character packs 1 fighter, 1 stage, and multiple music tracks Or you can get fighters (season) pass with 5 fighters, 5 stages and all music If you purchase fighter pass you get rex mii costume for free If you purchase the Smash Ultimate game near launch and register via MyNintendo (if you have physical version) you get Piranha Plant character for free. For downloaded version registration should be automatic. Piranha plant to release next year (2019) === Stages. Unlike characters, not all stages return. There are 103 stages with 5 planned DLC stages. Stages does not need to be unlocked All stages now have a Battlefield form: Omega and Normal. Omega stages are similar to final destination stage with no moving platforms or random hazards. === Core changes/features. -Graphics improved. details in clothing, facial expression/emotes and stages -Some characters have a overall design change for example: Link now in Breath of the Wild costume Zelda no longer Twlight Princess form, now based off Link Between Worlds Mario wears cappy from Mario Odyssey when doing taunts/moves Fox now based off Star Fox Zero design -Now can select female forms of characters like pokemon trainer and pikachu for example. -Characters now displayed by number/when they appeared in the smash series -13 New items: Banana Gun, Beastball, Black Hole, Bomber, Death's Scythe, Fake Smash Ball, Healing Field, Healing Sprout, Killing Edge, Rage Blaster, Ramblin' evil mushroom, Staff, and Super Launch Star. -You select stage before character -8 Player battles make a return -Stage morph. Over 1200 to collect -Charge attacks are longer doing more damage the longer you hold -Shield changes: Perfect shields are performed in reverse: instead of pressing the shield button several frames before an attack connects, players have to release the shield button when an attack connects on their shield instead. -Damage meter now display tenth's damage. Example 20.5% -Grab Cancels: If two players grab the same time; both characters take minimal damage and act as if grab released -Characters can no longer run through other characters and instead push them backwards. This affects some characters like Fox with his slide kick attack and side special -More space to come back from being blasted off to the sides, but edge sweet spots have decreased/recovery moves take longer to snap on ledges for most characters. Edge attacks has been buffed. -Deal more damage in One-on-one fights with no items. If the screen has finished zooming in, Bob-ombs will start falling after a while -Stamina battles can now be combined with stock. -There are 59 Assist Trophies available in the game. 27 are brand new -Some assist trophies can be KOed for points. The player who summon assist trophy can also KO there own assist trophy to prevent other players from gaining points -Some Final Smash Changes: No more temporary power ups/form changes like Wario Man, Fox/Falco/Wolf landmaster transformation, Flying Yoshi, Giga Bowswer, Giga Mac for example. For multi-character final smash: Fiora added to shulk final smash, Paula and Poo added to Ness Final Smash, Lucas has kumatora and Boney, Megaman has Protoman and Bass Donkey Kong has rapid fire punches instead of the lame drum beats -There is now chargeable final smash option. But no two final smash can be used simultaneously -A lot of buff/nerfs changes for most, if not all characters -A lot of Move changes. Example: Link no longer has a hookshot (young link and toon link still does), has remote (manually detonate bombs) Samus can charge her cannon in air Zelda's Phantom knight is now chargeable: delayed hit or release. Pokemon trainer has no penalty for not switching pokemon Shulks Monato arts are now on text wheel around the character instead of multiple button presses Rob has fuel gauge on spine for boost meter -In game gold can be used to purchase Spirits, spirits upgrade and music tracks -Game supports 11 languages. -Can make teammates semi-transparent -Palutena's guidance makes a return with some new voice clips/scenes for new characters and returning characters with cosmetic changes -Codec also makes a return, but with no new voice recording for characters past Smash Bros Brawl == Spirits Mode. Spirits are basically add on buff to characters in form of stickers or less known characters that didn't make it into the roster. There are different classes: Novice, Advance, Ace, and Legend. One primary spirit can be assigned at a time to one character There are also support spirits that add on to the primary spirit depending on how many open slots they have Primary spirits increase stats like HP, Speed, Attack etc. Support spirits have different attributes like healing, fire boost item pickups, jump higher, etc You have to fight spirits to obtain them in event matches. Spirits Mode has event matches where matches can have different attributes/battle conditions like having the the floor be on fire, random spike balls fly across the screen, you're a mini fighter vs a large fighter (like when eat pick up mushroom but constant throughout match), enemy has a lot of armor but moves slower and deal higher damage, defeat enemy but constantly taking damage due to being poisoned, enemy constantly invisible, fog of war making it hard to see, reduced/increased gravity, only can use one move, etc. Spirits can level up after battle or by feeding it snacks giving you more stat boosts. Some spirits have an enhanced or evolved form. Spirits also can level up by having them train in gyms, or battle other spirit teams. The more stronger they are the better rewards you get. For spirits you don't' readily use can send them off to collect treasure You can also release spirits you don't want to get cores, which can be used to summon other spirits === Adventure Mode. Story mode of the game dubbed World of Light Grid based battle system similar to Mario Tennis Aces Plot: All characters are turned into spirits except Kirby. Must release everyone from spirit form and save the world. No in depth story just series of unique battles involving spirits. More focused on fun game play scenarios than story == Other Modes: Classic mode: 8 rounds, 1 mini game, and different bosses for each character. You are able to select difficulty for challenge and better rewards Tourament mode: Basic King of the Hill bracket mode Up to 32 players -Smash Down mode: After you play a character for a match they'll be unavailable for later matches. Having different characters to choose from each time

I love smash brothers! I played the first one on the Nintendo 64 and many of the others leading up to this one. This game I can say for sure that the difficulty has been ramped up... or I'm just getting worse at the game. You have over 70 characters to choose from (once you unlock them), and lots of modes to use them in. The story mode is a great addition to the game but some of those levels are literally impossible if you don't' have the right spirit to beat it with. I play this game as much as I can. I don't have online so I can't say if that's good or not, but everything else about the game is great. Fun Party game

The phrase "Up for smash?" somehow turned from being about playing video games to some sort of euphemism popular with the kids these days. As a result it's been really hard to send texts out to see if my friends want to play video games. "Smash tonight?" I'd send, followed by an enthusiastic reply of "yes, doors unlocked, hurry!". But when I show up with my Switch in tow, there's always a slight look of disappointment among the assembled parties, as I had once again misconstrued the invitation. That is until the joycons come out and a grand time of "5 stock no items" is had. This is the fighting game that everyone has been waiting for since the Switch was announced. Every fighter that has ever been in a Smash Bros game, plus more you couldn't believe they added, with even more to come as DLC. Except Waluigi. Even if you don't have friends that'll play with you even though they clearly had other intentions when they invited you over, there's enough single player content to keep you busy, especially unlocking spirits in the new World of Light mode. Online mode is a bit of a toss-up as the big N still can't get a proper online system like every other console & PC, because "think of the children". Still, this is the Smash you know and love.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate is a great, 8-player game that can be used to play with your friends, family, or loved ones (or an octopus). The "Smash" mode features many different ways that you can play, whether you prefer timed matches, matches with a set number of lives (or "stocks"), or battles to take down your opponent's HP. You can also mix and match various rules to create your own custom, unique matches as well! The "World of Light" campaign mode is done well as well. While it isn't nearly as deep as I personally would've liked it (not quite as immersive as the story from "Super Smash Bros. Brawl"), it still will give you hours upon hours of gameplay, unlocking various fighters and spirits, and finding and experimenting with cool combos and combinations of fighters/spirits to get the most out of your fighter (which you can use in Online matches (assuming you have spirits enabled for said matches). There are over 70 characters to play as, making it the largest roster in any Smash Bros yet. Whether you like Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Fire Emblem, Sonic, Kirby, or even series that aren't as well-known; such as Xenoblade, Earthbound, Castlevania, and Kid Icarus (and soon to be Persona 5), there are characters and play styles for everyone!! Pros: - 70+ playable characters. Each with their own unique play style. - 800+ songs in the game (with the option to make your own playlists), so you can listen to your favorite tunes from famous video games. - The Classic mode is fun to do, and the difficulty indicator is very reminiscent to "Kid Icarus: Uprising" (which is, in my opinion, one of the best games for the 3DS). - Campaign mode (over 15 hours of exploration, battles, and experimentation!). - Tons of fun to play with friends and family locally Cons: - CPU on level 9 is much more brutal than other games (though personally I enjoy that, others might not). - Story mode (World of Light) isn't nearly as deep as SSE from "Super Smash Bros Brawl". WoL mostly just sends you on a goose chase to fight characters, with no real plot elements; thus making the story feel extremely lack-luster. - Online mode is horrible. If you plan on playing online for those achievements and to truly 100% the game; don't bother. Unless you have exceptionally good internet and a LAN/ethernet cable right by you, you will experience frame drops so bad that it makes the frame drops in "Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric" look good. It's sad, since one of the charms of the "Super Smash Bros" series is playing online; but currently, the online feature just does not work properly (now, playing LAN or with others in your house works perfectly!). Overall rating: 8.7 / 10

this game has all the characters every single character that has been in the smash Bros series that have joined just for one installment is in this game. you can still create your Mii characters there is a training mode. all the music is there, every stage that has been in every smash Bros is there. that being said there are a couple of things that people might be missing, for one thing there is no target practice, break the targets, there is no land on the platform, there is no home-run contest. there's little-to-no story, story mode, was, I would say "hey" a nostalgia coaster of old characters you've seen from old installments but they're just stickers that don't add anything to the story they're just there, you don't see any actions between characters. if you seen the opening video where Kirby survives you basically seen 95% of all the videos and the game. it's it's underwhelming. the story... it's pretty bad. for some reason the Wii smash Bros added a very good story there was lots of interactions between the characters but after that installment they've never went back to that concept ever again. it's a shame too, because seeing the characters mingle with each other was a fun thing to watch. if you plan to go online on line is either hit or miss be sure to have a wired connection because I have a wired connection it and it runs well and I've only seen a few hiccups but I'm guessing that's because maybe the other side was running off Wi-Fi I don't know I just a guess. the new sticker mechanic is nothing special hand sticker mode is kind of boring. story 2 out of 10, fighting 9 out of 10, features 3 out of 10, music 10 out of 10, overall 6 out of 10. bottom line bring back story mode, an actual story like the Wii did.

The game's title says it all: this is the ultimate Super Smash Bros. game. It is very much aimed at Smash veterans, but does just enough to still be open to newcomers. The developers pulled off the incredible feat of bringing back every fighter in Super Smash Bros. history, and making them all feel like viable options—including third-party characters, characters that were originally DLC, and characters that used to be seen as jokes, such as Pichu from Super Smash Bros. Melee. In addition, the vast majority of stages and items are back, along with a few new ones. The biggest new features for single-player are the revamped classic mode and the new adventure mode. Since Melee, classic mode has been a series of randomized fights with a few bonus games and a battle against Master Hand (and sometimes Crazy Hand or Master Core) at the end. In Ultimate, every character (except the Mii fighters) has a personalized route that is usually based on the character's role in xer own series or xer Super Smash Bros. history, and the boss at the end of the route is sometimes not Master Hand—for instance, as one of the game's trailers revealed, Galleom, a boss from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, makes a return, though there are bosses new to Smash Bros. as well. The new adventure mode, World Of Light, is somewhat lacking in story compared to Super Smash Bros. Brawl's The Subspace Emissary, but it is understandable it would be difficult to write such a story with over 75 characters. Instead of side-scrolling levels, you encounter a variety of spirits in the world, and defeat them to unlock more of the world. Spirit battles are similar to event mode from previous games, with the “spirit” of an entity from Nintendo's history (or sometimes third-parties) being represented by a Smash battle with special conditions. (For instance, The Imprisoned from The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword is represented by a giant black King K. Rool defended by a Girihim assist trophy.) Outside of adventure mode, you can also fight a random selection of spirits on the Spirit Board, which rotates throughout the day, and you can delete spirits from your collection and use their “cores” to “summon” other spirits, similar to a lot of mobile gacha games. On the multiplayer side, the biggest change I have noticed to Smash gameplay is attacks feel like they launch farther than in past games, but recovering is also easier than in past games. It took a bit of getting used to, but once your brain gets past how that is just not how physics works, it speeds up the game a bit because you get to where you would ultimately be launched a bit faster, and can then just focus on recovering and continuing the fight. Some other changes I particularly like are directional air dodges and the ability to charge special moves (like Samus's charge shot) in the air. A few other minor tweaks I have noticed are the changes to perfect shielding, and that dodges become weaker if you dodge frequently. There are numerous other character-specific tweaks, but it would take forever to list them all here. Suffice to say if you have played Smash before, it will feel familiar enough, but if you are a hardcore competitive Smash player, it is definitely distinctively different than what came before it. Overall, as disappointed as I was by the lack of a Subspace Emissary-like story mode, or a new multiplayer mode like Smash 3DS's Smash Run, there is no denying there is a ridiculous amount of content in this game. Balancing 75+ characters is no easy feat, and the variety of multiplayer customization options, unique classic mode routes, and 1000+ different spirit battles provide no shortage of content and collectables, even if they are all just Smash battles. And in the few weeks it has been out, I already have over 70 hours played, so clearly my complaints aren't holding me back much!

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch stands as a testament to the sheer brilliance of game design, delivering an unparalleled experience that brings together gaming icons in an explosive celebration of the medium. Each fighter is meticulously crafted, boasting unique movesets and abilities that pay homage to their respective franchises. The constant updates and addition of new fighters ensure that the game remains fresh and exciting, encouraging players to explore different playstyles and strategies. The attention to detail in the game's stages is commendable. From iconic locations lifted straight from classic games to creatively designed arenas, every stage feels like a nostalgic trip down gaming history. The gameplay mechanics are refined to perfection. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate strikes a delicate balance between accessibility for casual players and depth for competitive enthusiasts. The controls are responsive, and the inclusion of both simple and advanced techniques caters to a broad audience. The addition of items and assist trophies adds an extra layer of unpredictability, making every match a thrilling and unique experience. The game's single-player modes, such as Classic Mode and World of Light, offer engaging challenges and varied experiences. Multiplayer is where Super Smash Bros. Ultimate truly shines. The local and online multiplayer modes provide endless opportunities for friendly competition or intense showdowns. The netcode has seen improvements over time, resulting in smoother online matches and a more enjoyable experience for players looking to test their skills against opponents from around the world. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch is an absolute must-have game for any fan of the series or fighting game enthusiast. I recently purchased it from BestBuy, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. First and foremost, the character roster in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is mind-blowing. With over 70 fighters to choose from, including beloved Nintendo characters, third-party icons, and DLC additions, there is a fighter for every playstyle and preference. The variety and depth of the roster ensure that every match is unique and exciting, keeping the gameplay fresh and engaging. The gameplay itself is fast-paced, exhilarating, and incredibly fun. The controls are tight and responsive, allowing for precise movements and satisfying combos. Whether you prefer strategic gameplay or just want to enjoy some chaotic brawling, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate caters to both casual and competitive players. The game strikes a perfect balance between accessibility for newcomers and depth for experienced players, making it enjoyable for players of all skill levels. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate offers a plethora of game modes and features. The classic "Smash" mode allows you to battle it out against friends or CPU opponents in various stages, with customizable rules to suit your preferences. The "Adventure Mode: World of Light" offers a captivating single-player experience, featuring an expansive map and challenging battles against an army of Spirits. The online mode allows you to test your skills against players from around the world, providing endless opportunities for competitive matches. Visually, the game is a treat for the eyes. The vibrant and colorful stages, along with the stunning character models and special effects, make each battle visually stunning. The attention to detail in the game's design is remarkable, capturing the essence of each character and their respective franchises. The soundtrack is equally impressive, featuring a vast collection of iconic music tracks from various Nintendo titles, adding to the overall immersion and nostalgia. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate also benefits from continuous support and updates from Nintendo, with regular balance patches and new DLC fighters being added to the roster. This ongoing support ensures that the game remains fresh and exciting long after its initial release. If I were to nitpick, the online matchmaking could be improved. While it generally works well, occasional lag or connectivity issues can disrupt matches. However, this is a minor gripe compared to the overall enjoyment and content the game offers. In conclusion, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a masterpiece of a fighting game, and it is a must-own title for any Nintendo Switch owner. With its extensive character roster, addictive gameplay, variety of modes, stunning visuals, and exceptional sound design, the game delivers an unparalleled gaming experience. BestBuy provided a seamless purchasing experience, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Whether you're a fan of the series or a newcomer, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is an absolute blast that will keep you entertained for hours on end.
