    I was with an older surveillance system with Defender for ten years and wanted to upgrade for better quality and technology advances. I decided to go with SWANN and what a huge mistake! They say the quality is, better than regular HD and some cameras are 4K-- but you can't even read signs or license plates ten feet from the camera! Very buggy. They had to resend me two new cameras after one week and replace the DVR which the new one has the same issues. Don't get the ethernet cable version -- go with coaxial. They aren't meant for outside as SWANN provides very thin cheap ethernet cables and they are only meant for indoors. Duh, who wants just indoor surveillance and no outdoor surveillance. Also, most companies supply 100' cables, Swann only provides 65' way too short. All other companies give you at least 100' of cable. Also, SWANN cabling comes very tight and kinked which doesn't help. Also, if you order the spotlight/two-way speaker cameras, be prepared to send back. Three of them the two-way speaker wire was disconnected. It's as thin as a piece of thread. Unfortunately several incidents occurred with my mail box broken open and the police couldn't help me because the cameras didn't record anything until after the doors to the mailbox had been pried open after the perpetrator left!

Based on the context provided, your recorder may require an adjustment of the recording resolution preset for your cameras. If the issue is when remotely accessing, we would recommend loading the main-stream footage for the best resolution. Once set, you will be able to see and distinguishing signs/license plates. The wiring provided is rated for indoor/outdoor use and will advertise the included wiring of 60 feet per camera. Longer wiring is available sold separately.

    Well, where do I start ?. purchased this system on 8-31-2019, brought it home to start the process of setting it up. after a couple hours of not making headway, it was time to call swann ( sigh ). I was replacing an older system, not because it died ?, but the little fan would stop working once in a while. dvr-4200 ( 9 channel ), wonderful unit. anyway, got this unit home, tried everything in the book to set it up, nope..wasn't gonna happen. time to call swann. first person did get my pc to connect to the new unit, great !..or so I thought ????. it would not record anything ?. checked out swan's web site on their forums, some one else asked the same question for a problem I noticed, and NEVER ANSWERED ON THERE ??!.. they wanted to know why when they used the app on their pc to click on setting the motion detection, it would crash ?, well guess what ?..this brand new unit was doing the same thing !!!!!!!!. second tech that I just got off the phone with was trying to explain to me, the unit had to be connected to my monitor with the supplied cable ?, I said..soooooo..your telling me every time I need to make an adjustment, instead of doing all of this through the remote config ?, I have to yank this unit down from where I have it, ( which means unhooking everything ! ), then hook it to my pc, and config the motion detection..or anything else I need to do ?. he said, until the dev's get the app fixed ?, then yes..this is what I would need to do !. lol. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME ?????!!!. I asked him, uhh..explain to me..then what is remote config for ?????????. has this sunk in folks ?..its a waste of money and time. DO NOT BUY THIS MODEL/UNIT..ITS JUNK !!!.

      Thank you for reaching out to us and providing your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience when configuring our 16 Channel DVR system. This recorder kit will be preset to record based on motion detection so this will have to be reconfigured in the recorder itself. Due to security reasons, the application will currently only allow for minor changes to be made on the actual configuration on your DVR system. Our development team is working hard on refining the application to ensure it is even more user-friendly. At this time, we only have a few options on reconfiguration through the mobile application.

    Buyer beware! Seek elsewhere!!!!

    Purchased cameras in 2019. They worked fine until a few weeks ago. I keep getting "Connection lost" messages. I called customer service and absolutely ZERO help. I guess they are meant to last just for a few years. I called my internet company and they said everything looks fine on their end. Very disappointing!

      Thank you for reaching out to us and sharing your feedback on our Swann - 4-Channel, 2-Camera Indoor/Outdoor Wired 1080p 1TB DVR Surveillance System. The camera has 3 different settings for streaming quality; low, medium, and high. If you are having problems streaming you can lower the settings and test to see if it improves. Note that lowering the stream settings does not affect the quality of the recordings. If you have very fast upload speeds you can set your camera to high, but if your upload speed is not that good then we recommend you use medium or low for the streaming setting. The cameras included in this kit do not have audio or alarm features. Swann offers alternative security kits and cameras that may better suit your needs.     I've been trying to fix an issue with connecting to my system using the apps recommended FOR WEEKS NOW and I have yet to get this issue resolved! I'm starting to regret purchasing this product! It seems it's impossible to talk to a Swann Customer Service Tech Representative to fix my issue! Very upsetting!!
