The cameras that come with this system are lighter, have better quality images, and extra features with the built-in spotlight capability. This is a great security camera system for the price.

Very clear for being 1080P

They had an older Swann system from a few years back. These are definitely an upgrade. The 1080P looks really good and clear. No need for a 4K system, theses are perfect.

My Lorex camera system crapped out so i had to look else where. Swann actually Has software for the Mac which was a big plus for me!! The IPhone app works flawlessly as well so all my devices have it installed. Def a must buy!

Very good camera system for the price.

The app is only thing that I really have a struggle with because it doesn't work most of the time which can get frustrating, especially when your monitoring from another location. Other than that, this a decent surveillance system for both work and home for great value.

Constant Popups That Don’t Go Away

The hardware seems adequate and functional, however the software interface on the security console will make you pull your hair out. The worst is the popups that block the middle of the display until someone goes in and closes the popups. And it loves to do popups all the time - asking for admin password or change resolution or whatever even when no one is interacting with it. The popups just sit there blocking the main display. This is very annoying since the security console is under lock and key and isn’t location close to the main display. Had to buy second monitor to be in cabinet with console and leave cabinet unlocked so employees could go in and clear the unwanted constant popups. Would not buy again and do not recommend.

When using this recorder kit, you will be prompted through a few menus. This will request you adjust the settings in order to start up your unit for the first time. Pop-ups requesting the admin user name and password can be removed within the application itself, if desired. We believe the adjustment would help with this scenario and help earn your 5-Star rating.

6 additional cameras for a larger system

I was looking for a 16 camera system , but only thing in store that was available was a 16 capacity with 10 cameras and an 8 capacity with 6 cameras. I bought both sets to get the 16 cameras I needed and always have a spare 8 capacity DVR for expanding when needed. In the long run it was less expensive to buy both full systems then to buy the additional cameras separate. Still a great value

Easy installation and set up

I am very happy with the quality of the image during daylight however, the night vision is not so good. If the camera is too close to the wall or any object it will cause the light to reflect on the image causinga glare that impedes the clear view. Also if you zoom in with the night vision it will be a little blurry and hard to identify somone even in cllse proximity. Installation and set up was a breeze.

Though those work great, they run via wireless which set limits to how far they can be installed, as well as the fact that they require a decent amount of bandwidth. Ontop of that those cameras have to be charged every now and then... the cameras from Swann that I installed are powered directly and are not POE like most security cameras which would draw power from the Ethernet cables. On top of that there is a decent amount of wire for every camera roughly 60 ft the boxes are in order and come in a set easy to put together and really requires no instruction.... but then again I’m also a cybersecurity expert so you may want to read the instructions...
