The service was above and beyond!! I love Best Buy. But the product of the Swan Security System customer service did not get back to me on the bad DVR. The camera one does not work. So, I am having to deal with one less camera. That is why it is only getting a 2 star!

The Swann - Enforcer™ 8-Channel, 4-Camera Indoor/Outdoor Wired 1080p 1TB DVR Home Security Camera System - White offers amazing security with clear day and night vision to help bring security and peace of mind to your situation. Hi-Def video quality, warning light options, motion and heat detection, and smart connectability makes this 1TB security system a must have for many situations. I found this product to be almost perfect for my needs. Added security and peace of mind whether at home or away. The ability to connect to Google or Alexa apps make changes to the system or requests as simple as a spoken word. The huge 1TB hard drive make storing events and retrieving them for reporting to authorities a breeze. The only issue I had was the wires. If this was a wireless system it would be 6 stars! The wires can be a bit challenging, especially if you have long distances to reach where you need visual coverages. PROS - SWANN quality, innovations, and design - General DIY set up is possible without a technician - Video quality is sharp and clear - Day and Night vision - Motion and Heat detection - Warning lights on board cameras - 1TB storage! CONS - Just the wires. Make this a wireless system and it is perfect!

With so many camera systems out there these days, it can feel a bit overwhelming to figure out the best solution for your home. Swann's wired in/outdoor camera system doesn't disappoint. The first (and most) appealing feature is the 1TB DVR - no subscriptions, no monthly/annual fees to pay! You are in control of your recordings! The installation itself can be a little on the tricky side since this is a wired system. The actual setup is very straightforward and the instructions are very good. The tricky part is fishing the wires through. I would recommend at least two people be present for installation. The camera quality is good - about what you'd expect from a CCTV system like this. While these cameras are technically 1080p, the video they produce is pretty impressive compared to wireless cameras I also have in use. I you have a relatively centralized location for the DVR (for connection purposes) and are looking for a high quality, reasonably priced (and expandable!) camera system, I would highly recommend Swann.

I'll tell you that this is a nice little system, anyone can install this, even someone who has never done this kind of thing before. Everything you need is packaged in the box. It comes with instruction guides, numbered and well explained for each step of the way. The hard part is that everything must be wired, and getting wires around is more of a craftsman thing vs. an intelligence thing. If you have the tools and knowledge on how to do, it'll be easy peasy. If you don't, you can still do it, but need to be patient and do your research. The system is a small high resolution analog CCTV security system. It is not the newer and more advanced "IP" system, which is an "internet protocol" system. This means the resolution, while good, is capped. And if you decide you want to do more, the wiring in place is not going to do it as this is using coax and BNC connectors vs. ethernet cable and modular connectors. So, if you want something inexpensive and want to get the job done without regard for future upgrades or replacements, this is good to go. It'll give you decent images, at a decent price, everything is included, and it even has room for additional cameras. The recorder is limited in recording space and can be expanded in different ways, most commonly with USB storage. The included wiring is not long enough to get you from one end of a large house to the other, so if that is an issue, you might need to figure out a plan "B" such as purchasing longer cables now, or if you know how to do wiring, to buy more wire, connectors, etc. and assemble. As It is, this is something that would be for a smaller home whereas each wire run does not exceed 60' each. It is a bit gimmicky with the little police lights, but some would consider this as something to startle intruders. The images from the cameras are really decent. For an inexpensive system, I was impressed. Most small business or homeowners will appreciate that this has to offer, for the money. My first frustration is that you cannot simply plug in and go, without an internet connection. The startup sequence of the recorder requires you to establish a password, and then submit your email address to get started, which means you must connect it to the internet to do, and therefore revealing your IP address and associated email address, and password. I'm disappointed I could not get past this screen without an internet connection. This is yet another way companies are getting your location and associating you with that, plus keeping a record of your password. If they get hacked, and seems everyone gets hacked at some point, your information is in jeopardy. The second frustration is that the app wants to use your location. Why? Do they really need to know where you are to use your camera system? They aren't going to respond to your home with armed guards if there is an intrusion/trespasser, so why do they want to gain this info as well. Again, data mining. And data mining is much more of an issue than anyone wants to admit. There have been many issues of spying on folks via CCTV systems whether it be from hackers or foreign nations, that helping them along with providing sensitive information is not something I am happy about. Don't think it is a concern? Look up information about the John McCain National Defense Authorization Act and why it came to be. All of this said, if you want an inexpensive camera system that provides a high definition analog camera system, this might be for you. A mom and pop store, a smaller home/condo, etc. than this kit is right for you. If you want to put in a larger location, you'll need longer cables. But all in all, it fits the bill for those who just want something easy, simple, and inexpensive to provide images and recordings for security purposes. And for many, this is why you would be considering this vs. a more advanced and professionally installed system.

It was not that difficult to install. Even the completely wireless surveillance systems need, at minimum, power. So running an extra cable to plug into the DVR is not a huge issue. Especially when the trade off is better connection overall and that's really what you need when you're setting up a camera system. This one is terrific. I love the 1TB DVR and app that you can use to admin and view. So far I've had no issues and I was up and running in 2 hours. The night vision on these cameras is excellent. Much better than most I've tried. The resolution at 1080p is totally acceptable. I can view all the details I need. 4k would be nice but it's not a deal breaker for me. Highly recommended!

This Swann Enforcer system is a wired surveillance system that comes with 4 cameras though the DVR/control unit has support for 8. Setup was particularly easy for me as I'd already run cabling for a similar system. This does come with 4 60 foot cables for the cameras which is plenty for a 1500 sqft house providing exterior coverage. That said, depending on your layout, you'd want the DVR to be centrally located or to pre-plan the cable routing such that your longest runs will be under the length limit. These cables carry video and power and while relatively common, not something you'd easily walk into a local store to pick up. Also, your install plan needs to include being able to route ethernet to the DVR unit if you plan on using the app with it. Otherwise, you'd definitely need to have it attached to a TV or monitor. Aside from the camera and cables, you get a DVR box which has hookups for 8 cameras, HDMI cable (so you can connect to a monitor for setup), a mouse (yes really, a mouse) - also for setup navigating menus, etc, power adapter and splitter for the camera power. Rather than having individual plugs on the DVR unit for both camera power and video, you just hook up video and the power to the cameras is common. In all, this is a pretty basic and straightforward setup. The cameras have a flood light, red and blue flashing LEDs (likely the source of the "enforcer" name), heat/motion sensor, and IR. You can configure the behavior of the enforcer lights, motion/distance sensitivity, and night time (spotlight) behavior. The DVR is good for 1TB and Swann has an app you can use to configure most settings and monitor the cameras. What I really like about this system is that the storage is local (and under my control). Setting up the app is relatively straightforward. Once your phone and DVR are on the same network, you'd install the Swann Security app. Add a new device and scan the QR code on the DVR. Once setup, you can then access the video feeds via the internet. The app can also give you notifications when motion detection hits your configured thresholds. This gives you the best of an internet based surveillance system. You can access your cameras and video over the internet. But you still have your own copy on the DVR and should something happen to Swann's servers or your home internet connection, your video is still recording away. You can even save video to your phone. That said, watching video over the net seems to not be that great. Watching your cameras remotely works fine, but watching saved video seems best for when you're actually at home on your home network. Note, the app is pretty much just for viewing. Annoyingly, to configure anything, you need to do it on the DVR itself with mouse and monitor. This is a pain as for me, it meant that I really had to get things configured the way I wanted on initial setup and going back afterwards to tweak settings was a bit of a pain as I had to lug the monitor back. As a surveillance system, this works well enough. Cameras are 1080p and provide good quality during the day, so/so at night. This has a "color night vision" mode but honestly it doesn't work that great. It seems to be really dependent on external lighting. So, if you have motion activated flood lights, perhaps this can be a useful setting to turn on. Otherwise, I'd stick with IR if you want to have a chance at actually making things out at night well enough to reasonably identify someone. Note, even in daytime, you're not going to be reading license plate numbers off a moving vehicle. Depending on how far setback your house is from the street, you might be able to get a decent shot at reading the plate off a parked car, but this is really for catching things happening closer to home. Swann claims 30 feet but I'd say it's best at half that or closer. All that aside, video quality is good. Better than my 1080p dash cam and I'm already pretty happy with that. It looks like Swann has a 4K version available. That could be useful to stretch high quality capture to street level. When activated, the flashing red and blue lights do grab your attention. They're also a bit obnoxious. While I certain think this feature could be great for a remote job site or commercial building, for home, I'm not sure I really like it. If you have a well fenced yard with no-trespassing signs, then go for it. Otherwise, the random false positives from someone coming home late or a late visitor just make that feature too annoying. I'd just stick with the flood light being automatically triggered as that's attention catching enough to let someone know they're being monitored. Since you can trigger the flood light and flashing lights manually via the app, for home use, saving the enforcer function for when you get a notification and see something amiss is probably best. Note, on the DVR configuration, the flashing red and blue lights are referred to as "siren". There's no actual speakers on the cameras or audio recording. The cameras themselves seem well build and rugged enough to stand up to rain and snow. Based on the temperature rating, they should be fine. Summer hits 100F some days but as these are shielded a bit by the roof overhang, it should be rare that they see temps above that and 100F is well within the temperature rating. In all, this is a decent expandable system. From experience with a dashcam system where 4 cameras are recording to a 256GB flash drive, 1TB should be sufficient for a couple weeks of continuous recording, and maybe 1/2 a year with just the motion detection. The 256GB is good for about 2-3 months with the 4 cameras on my car, which pick up random motion (trees swaying in wind, taking out trash, cars driving by) thought out the day, every day, so 4 times the storage should be pretty decent for home surveillance.

Any time someone asks me what brand of WIRED security camera they should buy I always recommend Swann. The company has been involved in the security camera business for years and they provide a quality and reliable product. They also offer more than the competition with their bonus features that come built in to each of there cameras. The first perk to having this style of system and particular Swann's system is that you don't need to pay a monthly subscription. You get all of Swann's remote/online viewing features at no additional costs. Swann provides you with a 1TB hard drive so you don't have to pay for "cloud storage". The 1080p quality is decent. I have used Swann's 4K cameras (packed with the same great features) and I do prefer the better quality. However, the 1080p is great for those on a budget or who want value but still have a crisp picture. Also it depends on the monitor/tv you are using. I have these cameras setup outside only and I can see everything in field of view perfectly. The color night vision is also awesome and will help you identify someone in case you ever need to. The bonus features! Swann always adds more to there security cameras and is really the only company that packs all these features into a well built outdoor/indoor camera. Each camera in the kit is equipped with red & blue lights to scare off intruders (like law enforcement is there), heat and motion detection (this will help no waste time with unneeded alerts or take up recording storage), color night vision (which works super well), and is compatible with google and alexa (which I did not test). These features are great and there's really so much you can customize. The operating system is good and I always liked having more control and customization with my camera. Some of the big wireless brands narrow down what you can control and do but Swann lets you take control of the cameras features and customize and implement them to your needs. Also once your DVR box is tied into your homes internet you can view each camera on the Swann mobile app. I recommend going on Youtube and going right to Swann's Youtube page "Swann - Security Made Smarter" They post frequently and will show you how these cameras really work. They also show you how there operating system works. Swann has tons of resources to help you along the way. More specifically Swann has tons of videos on the enforcer system. They have been using the enforcer camera for awhile now and it's because they are reliable and trust worthy.

I will begin this review with a warning: make sure that you understand this is a wired system, not wireless. This is an excellent wired system, however with all of the competitor products out there it can be easy to get confused. This system was relatively easy to install, however took several hours to determine where to mount the cameras and to run the wires. Once installed, it works well. There could be better quality for night vision, but it is acceptable. I previously had a wireless system and it would constantly go on/off when there were wifi issues - not so with this unit since it is wired. Highly recommended.

    Good System for DIY

The Swann - Enforcer is a good little system for simple monitoring and acting deterrent device. I called a couple of places for installation and was put off by some of the pricing quotes I received. Swann does have a service provider card in the box but that is not who I called. The number one thing I was asked was "Are the wires included in the package. OK, yes... Do you know how many feet you have and how many feet you're going to need to place the cameras where you want them” To which, I replied no because unless I am crazy, I could not find the included wire lengths anywhere. I finally had to unravel one of the strings and with just eyeball measurements it appears to be about 50 feet each. Which I thought was a lot. When I informed the sales team for the installation companies, I called they both again asked if I knew about where I wanted the cameras and the accompanying distance to. So, after pacing off the distance from the TV Hub point, I wanted to use to the parts of my house where I wanted the cameras. I quickly learned that 50 feet was not nearly long enough to reach the garage side or back part of my home. The companies then quoted with the additional cabling needed and time. Both install prices were more than the system, so I passed and chose to DIY it. I did have to choose closer areas to my DVR and TV, but installation was actually really easy despite crawling around in my attic and drilling several holes in my home. The 1080 camera resolution from the cameras is perfect in my home and we love just being able to see the driveway (even if it is not quite the angle I wanted). I had an older system like this DVR OS at an office I used to work at, so I was familiar with the "How to use" part and always found that it worked and that is all I really need. I really like the ease of use from the app. I like popping up the videos to just see what is going on outside especially at night. The pro is the system is easy to monitor on the app and or the DVR system and the resolution is great. The con for me was not that I had to install it. It was not that hard (not that easy though and did take some doing). It was the length of cable included for each camera. I think maybe doing 100 feet each would allow for the DIYer to have more options during the install. All said I do recommend if this unit fits your needs. I will be getting a kit for my mothers’ home too and perhaps some longer cabling.

Swann inforcer 8 channels 4 cameras, 1st yes you can add 4 more cameras if needed. I was amazed at how clear color night vision was so that’s a plus. The motion detector, heat detection is amazing also, I still really don’t know how I feel about the bright red & blue flashing lights. I did notice they didn’t go off when a cat ran in my yard don’t know if it didn’t sense the cat or for some reason knows, The instructions made it very easy to install comes with everything you need hardware wise to install, it is wired so that was something I had to figure out where to hide & run the wires, they are weather proof, you can use with the app so you get alerts on your phone of activity. You can also connect to google systems. Which I did not try yet. But so far I really feel a better sense of security when I’m home alone both day & night the distance & clarity are remarkable, I would recommend thinking of getting the extra 4 to have better property coverage

    Solid reliable wired system

Upfront this is a quality system! However, no WIFI other than the app on your cell phone for functionality. Noticed some systems had a plug in USB WIFI antenna. Not sure if this unit is compatible. Initial setup was straight forward and was up and running with OEM settings. The phone app worked for all functions and was reliable and easy to use. Needed! Detailed manual on all the menu settings and functionality. USB sticks have no instructions other than insert it. Evidently you can save specific files after the fact to a USB stick. It would be nice if you could set it to record to the USB stick and swap out sticks every 30-45 days. This may be an option but no information on if this is even possible. Auto notify disabled for good reason! You don't want every lizard sending you an email. As far as tweaking the system to send certain wanted pictures, no information was available at this time. I did look at older manuals and you can gleam information from those and do your setup. Bottom line is this wired system is always your best bet for access to stored videos locally, offline, and visible on your computer. I am not a fan of all your security stuff on a server some where in space. And now to find a victim to drag cables through my attic.

To be a set with 4 cameras, the package is not too robust and it is easy to unpack, on the inside you will find the instructions to follow to be able to carry out the installation properly since it must be remembered that it is a security camera system wired and requires certain tools for proper installation. Once the cameras have been installed, an app is required to finish the setup, with this same app the cameras can be remotely monitored at any time, if movement or intruders are detected the app sends notifications, regarding this app It seems like it has the necessary options to configure the cameras, but could be better. It should be noted the image quality taking into account that the price is not very high, it is good, I could say decent, in this sense, I think that you have to consider first of all what are the needs you have or the result you want to obtain, it’s good to know that for the price you pay is the quality and storage you receive, 1tb and 1080p resolution is good but maybe not enough for some people, in night mode it lacks clarity despite fulfilling its function it is not entirely bright. In summary, if you do not require cameras with high resolution such as 4k and super video clarity and you have a limited budget, these cameras are a great option, the app offers ease at the time of set up and security by being able to monitor the cameras from any side as well as notifications if movement is detected, 1TB of storage, night mode and light configuration in the same cameras, it is not required to pay a subscription or monthly fees, for those characteristics and the price I could recommend this product.

    Good but not great

I take home security pretty seriously. If I'm getting cameras, I'm willing to pay more for a better quality product. For this price point, what you get is good, but it's not great. I'd definitely upgrade to 4K if possible because you want to be able to see clearly at night and during the time of day where an incident would more likely happen (in my opinion). Installation was straightforward, but my main concern is the quality. When it says 1080p, view that as more of the highest quality possible. It's really more like 480p-720p in my eyes. 1080p visually is stretching it. In optimal, perfect lighting, yes 1080p. Maybe. But in the dark, it's difficult to see people clearly and that's coming from someone with 18/20 vision. I mean yes it's clear enough for basic monitoring needs, but if something unfortunate occurred and you needed a clear image of someone's face and it wasn't very bright outside or you didn't have lights on nearby to supplement the cameras to make it brighter for the cameras to pick up lighting, not so good... The 1TB DVR is a nice touch, but personally it doesn't make up for the camera quality which could be better. 2TB with 4K cameras is optimal in my opinion. If you're on a budget and don't mind a wired system, this isn't too bad. But it's not perfect. Doesn't hurt to give it a try and install it, but if you're not satisfied, it'll be a pain/time consuming to remove and return. It's not terrible, but I personally don't recommend this. Still a solid 4 stars from me though.

No complaints. The Swann - Enforcer™ 8-Channel, 4-Camera Indoor/Outdoor Wired 1080p 1TB DVR Home Security Camera System does it's job. The best part is that it does NOT need any subscriptions or monthly payments. You will have to get it installed if you don't have the equipment to do so.

Excellent choice for an entry level security system. Good quality video, quiet dvr, easy to wire. Only complaint would be larger areas need additional IR lights for night vision to work better.
