Nice option for security
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this for a specific side entrance that wasn't ideal for other types of monitoring. I didn't want just a camera for this area and really wanted something like a doorbell camera but didn't have the space needed to hardwire one. The doorbell ones we tried in that area didn't connect well like the main entrance did and it was just a struggle. This is great. It's a good camera and still has a lot of the functions I was looking for with the doorbell style. This was so easy to install and didn't feel like I was struggling as much compared to other mounted camera styles. Set up was pretty straightforward and I've used this brand for other security needs before and had no issue. The camera feels solid and the mount does as well. Nothing feels too cheap or plastic like it won't last. It gets really cold here and I worry about cheaper materials standing up to that. I don't worry much about this product because it does feel well made. Anyone should find this simple to install or set up if you a bit of tech experience.

Good, could have been great.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.So. This is a interesting device. It seems to work as expected except for one little thing. The color night vision isn't the same as a starlight sensor, if it is the one in my camera doesn't work and there is no mention of the option in the app. The spotlight turns on when it detects motion or warmth from a body or vehicle. It has a great picture and when I zoom in on a recorded clip, it's pretty clear but the live feed on the other hand is kinda blurry when I zoom in on the same area from a clip. Kinda odd but enough to not give it five stars. Notifications are touch and go. I have adjusted the area which it is to monitor down to a very small spot but I still receive notifications for cars passing by on the street. The app is easy to set up. Phone and tablets were up and running in no time. Follow the instructions and you're good to go. It would be nice if it recorded more than fifteen seconds per clip. My experience with this setup the video starts after the person has moved into frame and I can't see where they came from. It's a real shamed that I haven't been able to test the full functions of the camera. I was looking forward to the color night vision and seeing how it compared to its competition in that department. I appreciate the included 32GB Micro SD card for the camera. Now the battery is a slight issue. It has gone from 100% from install to 29% over the course of six days. That can't be good. Going to chalk it up to the many notifications I have been receiving. It's a decent camera but the random notifications are a bit of a pain and the battery life is getting killed by them. Hoping a firmware update will address the issues I am having. Looking forward to adding a solar panel to it, my only concern is the waterproof integrity of the plug if I add a solar panel. I didn't see any way to secure the cable to the camera and it maintain a weather tight seal. If you are going to check this camera with Google Home make sure that the camera is on in the app first. If it isn't you will get a error from Google Home and no video will display which I think defeats the purpose of trying to watch the video from Google Home.

Security Where Wires Can’t Go
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you want to monitor an area where wiring isn’t practical or just want the freedom to monitor any area without the hassle of wiring, the Swann CoreCam Pro checks the boxes. Out of the box you get a manual, Swann security stickers, the camera, charging cable, and mounting hardware. The camera attaches to the mount using a thumb screw and the mount includes 3 anchors and screws so that you can attach just about anywhere. On the bottom of the camera you can fold back a weather resistant silicone flap to access the SD card, on/off switch, and charging port, which is unfortunately USB type micro B. Setup was easy. I used the smartphone app, scanned the QR code on the back of the camera and followed the instructions. Once the camera connected, I was able to access it’s features from the app. For testing and orientation purposes, I first set the camera in my kitchen, mostly to see if I could catch which cat likes to jump up on my countertop when we’re not home. The first thing I noticed was the camera catches motion. Each time it began recording a clip I would get a notification on my phone and watch. I could be in the kitchen making dinner or grabbing a glass of water and would receive constant pings that motion was detected. This is good if you want to get notified of motion, not so good to specifically monitor people in a busy people area. I turned on do not disturb feature within the app to temporarily stop the notifications. As for camera function and quality it works pretty well. The camera has good quality and records decent videos. I wouldn’t say you’re getting iPhone/Samsung quality video, but it does well enough that I can clearly make out people and objects. Night vision uses infrared imaging to record night videos and it does a good job of capturing motion in the dark. The LED light is bright enough that it illuminates 15-20ft of my yard which I think is reasonable since it isn’t a flood light. The speaker is loud enough that you can hear it outside the home. It’s not louder than a car alarm but it’s loud enough to deter someone who doesn’t want to bring attention to themselves. The app is probably the weak point of this device. From the app you’ll be able to change the camera settings, how long the light or siren stays on, go to live view, or change detection settings. Under detection settings the text for motion detections instructs changing settings from low to high for detection sensitivity, but the actual setting reads close, medium, far, and max. I’m making some educated guesses that close=low but it was confusing at first and still unclear. It has the same verbiage for person detection. If you close and open the app back up, you sometimes see that the camera is “Authenticating” which sometimes gets hung up. Sometimes you can click the camera while it’s authenticating and you get all the settings, sometimes you don’t. I’ve been able to skirt around this by closing and relaunching the app. Also live view sometimes gets hung up when saving settings and navigating back to live view. It will show the thumbnail but clicking on the picture doesn’t always take you to the camera and you’ll sometimes just get a spinning wheel as it “thinks” about showing you live feed. Since the app is how you directly interact with the camera and view its footage in real time, it does play a large part in user experience. In my opinion, the good outweighs the bad if you’re already in the Swann ecosystem or need a high-quality wireless security camera. You can quickly setup and deploy these cameras with included hardware since they’re wireless providing quick surveillance. Hopefully the software can be improved overtime and owners can enjoy a seamless experience and a newer model with USB-C would be welcomed.

Great reliability and quality.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Swann’s home surveillance products have worked great for me. I’ve had a few of their hardwired systems installed in my home, and I have no complains about them. When I saw that they came out with stand-alone Wi-Fi cameras with the added spotlight and two-way audio, I just had to try it. The only downside that I saw to this camera is the lack of 4K video quality. Don’t get me wrong, the 2K looks nice, but when it comes to catching a license plate or face, 4K is where it’s at. I live in a neighborhood where I have to have video surveillance, unfortunately. Swann cameras have played an important part in keeping my family and home safe. I really love the ability to place this camera just about anywhere (within Wi-Fi range) in my home and keep an eye out from anywhere. As previously mentioned, the video quality is clear and I really love the spotlight feature. Two-way audio is great for package delivery so I can communicate with the carrier. At the moment, I placed my Swann camera inside of my car canopy area. The hardwired system keeps an eye on the rest of my home. Connection has been very reliable, and this includes audio. If you are looking for a Wi-Fi camera, look no more. This Swann camera is great for the price.

Disappointing battery outdoor wireless wifi camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was really hoping to like this camera. It has a lot of features and seemed like it would be a great outdoor camera. Unfortunately it did not even come close to meeting my needs. First of all I fully charged it and then due to the extreme cold weather in MN I decided to wait a couple of days to install it outside. It did sit inside for a couple of days before I installed it outside. After installing it outside and trying to adjust the settings so that it did not go off every time a car went by it would alert that there was movement. Unfortunately I was unable to adjust it down enough so that it did not see the street in front of my house. So then I adjusted the sensitivity to the lowest setting. Even at the lowest setting it will still send an alert every time a car drives by. I also set it so the light did not come on to preserve battery life. Unfortunately in MN with our cold December weather the battery went dead in about 2 days. This camera offers 4 different plans to allow you to alert on People, Pets, cars or package alerts. the packages are Extra, Unlimited, Pro, or Pro Video. If you want to view recordings or customize your alerts, you need to purchase one of the monthly packages. After my battery going dead in about 2 days, I am pulling this camera down and putting my old camera back up. The battery doesn't last as long as it used to, but it still lasts close to a month with a couple year old battery in MN weather. I cannot recommend this camera based on my experience with this and other wireless outdoor cameras.

This is just ok
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have camera systems from 3 other companies I have around my house, and I have been using security cameras for several years. I do know some things I like and that I do not like. This camera falls into the soso category. I have this on my garage next to a camera from another company. I wanted to compare the 2. The camera I have with the Swann does not have a light. Setup was decently easy, one thing to remember; you need to have the camera in pairing mode and the camera will audibly say it is in paring mode. The camera I have next to the Swann has sensitivity (how large of an object will set it off), it has exclusion zones (an area you do not want the camera to give you a notice about, such as the street) and a pretty fast notification time between an event and a notification to my phone. The Swann has non of these. My roommate can park in the driveway (the camera will pick this up) but will not record him walking in the house. The description for the camera says 1080. I have this set to max resolution and think this may be closer to 720. When I do see my roommate on the camera, if I pause the playback, I can not clearly see his face compared to my other cameras. The camera system is plastic, I will be somewhat concerned about the coming winter and then the heat and how/if the camera and its components will withstand the elements.
