The Swann CoreCam Pro Single Indoor/Outdoor wire-free 2k camera comes with a 32GB Micro Sd Card. However, they also want to charge for monthly plans. Starting at $9.99 a month for a 3-month trial plan I suppose for cloud storage and picture and video access in the app I guess. Setting the camera up was not to bad. The worst part physically was the lack of a second pivot point to get around objects in order to get the camera how I wanted it. It also had a strangely angled arm that would have been fine if it just had more adjustment. I finally ended up moving the camera to the other end of the garage and got it set up to my liking. Once I got it aimed and angled correctly it worked fine. The app worked okay although I am not super impressed with it by any means. The only thing I really like about the camera compared to my other name brand cameras is the bright spotlight. However, it only took a couple of hours to run the battery down to about %80 with it running on the battery and I do not see a water-resistant way to keep it plugged in. So unless you want to use it inside be ready to charge it all of the time. My other brands have removable battery packs and much better water seals not to mention bigger batteries. The Swann CoreCam Pro does a decent job for it’s intended purpose. Non-removable battery poor water resistance and a monthly fee for what? No thanks, I have other units with hubs inside connected to the internet with extra storage attachment options and no monthly fee and an excellent app as well as expandability. My other set came with a hub 32Gb sd card 2 cameras with all of the same features minus a light that is not as bright. However, they have removable battery packs you can switch out without downtime that have 3 18650 batteries built in that last like 6 months per charge. I do not know what swan is thinking but they sure the heck are not looking at the competition. The other set I mentioned only cost $30 more for two cameras and the hub with no monthly fee. For the price of the Swann, it should come with the solar panel and a hub with and additional camera. Then they would be competitive. Also, why do I have to wait for stand-by mode to disengage before viewing the camera. Overall it is a pretty good camera and it does light up video’s taken at night which is good. However, you wil be charging your camera a lot if it is at your garage or front door. I will not be paying a $9.99 a-month fee for this camera and I will not be climbing up to charge it all the time either. Swann can do a lot better than this. Bottom line you can get a lot more for your money and do not buy this camera for outdoor use. It will work good for indoor use staying plugged in if maybe you have a network of Swann cameras and the monthly fee works out to be reasonable.. There are just way to many more cost-effective quality options out there to spend your money on this high-dollar single camera!

I am going to use this camera for my indoor front door entrance or maybe i will move it on my porch in the future.
It is very convenient and so easy to set it up, it really took me probably 2 minute to have it running after i opened the box.
Make sure you have installed the app on your device "Swann security" available on both ios and android. Access to your wifi password and the rest it's very simple, it will mainly securely connect to your router and establish it's transmitting signal stretch based on how far you will have it installed from it. Even tough it successfully establishes a connection even at larger distances i would recommend to keep it as close as possible or to use some wifi extenders.
I like the fact that the flash on the camera it's really powerful and helps to scare away a possible intruder as well as seeing in the dark!
The viewing angle is good and the night vision performs good as well. I found the motion detection to work good too and the lag to be at minimum which is want you need from a wireless security camera like Swann core cam.
I like that they included a 32gb for local storage and some stickers in the package.
It's a good, decent device that really adds protection to your space, but i really don't like the fact that in 2022 we still have companies that charge premium for devices and then expect for monthly charges to fully operate that device that they just sold you. I am curious how useful would this be after they're trial is over, but again i feel that when you buy your device at least a minimum cloud storage and some feature should come with it and for more advanced features like dispatch, 24hrs surveillance etc should be a charge.
Hope that is helpful!

The Swann CoreCam pro is a light compact camera that does some things really well but falls short on the software side. I installed the Swann CoreCam pro in a small office and the set up process was easy with the app. The camera is super light so you can get away with just drilling it into stucco without worrying it will fall over if you install it inside.
The cameras picture quality is really good and captures a lot of detail and this might be the reason that there are very few flash positives when it comes to lights shining into the room from outside. I also found that the spotlight to be fairly bright in case you want to use it as a deterrent for unwanted guest. The App it self is pretty easy to navigate and everything is clearly laid out, you can set schedules, change quality of video and has nice toggles to flip the camera image in case you mounted it upside down or if you have it looking through a window but that is where the good things end when it comes to the CoreCam Pro. Another thing that this camera has that other Wi-Fi cameras don’t is the length of recording, it kept recording up to a full minute where there was movement which isn’t the case for most other Wi-Fi cameras. The battery life for me has held up great , only 3% down in 4 days but that all depends on the amount of activity. The motion detection mask area is one of the best I have seen, it allows you to make sure you only receive notifications when movement is detected in a certain area.
Although the app has a nice layout and is easy to navigate it needs an update when it comes to how fast the app boots up, this is also an issue with the camera which takes anywhere from 10-15 seconds to load. Also it seems as if Swann only has 2.4 Wi-Fi on the CoreCam pro, which is great for range however when it comes to sending bigger data packets 2.4 is a bottle neck and im not sure why most security camera companies stick to just the 2.4. I also noticed that the CoreCam pro detection range is rather limited, no matter if you change the detection settings to max. At about 15 feet the camera wont detect you if there are other things around, for instance in my office which is a mess it wasn’t able to recognize me at 15 feet when I was moving. I think some of these things can be addressed with a software update but only time will tell.
The cameras mic and speaker are average so if your trying to have a conversation with someone from it you will sound tinny to them, so its just as good as any other Wi-Fi camera when it comes to this.
Overall there needs to be some updates to turn on the Camera quicker and fix the cooling off period which takes a bit long from time to time, also the camera disconnects from the Wi-Fi too often which seems to be something that is being done to save battery. These items need to be addressed because it increases the chances of you missing an event happening.

Record, light, and siren to deter crime

Overall rating: 4 stars, recommended
- I had some issues with the app and cam’s responsiveness (e.g., saving settings would time out; cam authentication in the app takes 10-15 seconds at times) even though my Cam’s Wi-Fi signal was 82%; though the app is reasonably intuitive best take some time to fully understand its features.
- Tip: When in Live View, double-tap the video screen to be presented with video recording and picture-taking options along with Cam Light On/Off, Speaker mute/unmute, Microphone mute/unmute, Alarm/Siren On/Off, etc. (see provided screen capture)
- Tip: When the cam does not authenticate when opening the app, best unload and then re-open the app to force authentication. This has always worked for me.
- In summary: I strongly believe this cam could help deter crime. It’s fairly easy to install and set up (the cam itself as well as the app).
Getting Started
- Charge the cam by using the supplied USB-to-Micro-USB charging cable connected to a standard 5V/2A USB charger (not supplied).
- Download and open the Swann Security App (Apple App Store or Google Play), set up userID and password as well as the address of where the cam will be installed, e.g., your home address), and grant access to Notifications, Microphone, Photos, Camera, and Bluetooth.
- Pair the cam with the app: turn on the cam (it says “ready for pairing”); scan the device QR code on the cam (don’t be too close to the cam); the process detects whether you’re using a VPN on your smartphone and if it detects one it prompts you to turn it off for the pairing process; it won’t continue the pairing process otherwise; hint: If your VPN keeps turning on (as happened on my iPhone), you may need to delete the VPN configuration via [Settings > General > VPN & Device Management]) and set it up again after the pairing; note the device can only connect to a 2.4 GHz network (my router is an ASUS GT-AX11000 with one SSID for my 2.4 and 5 GHz networks; it works beautifully); make sure you know your Wi-Fi password as you will be prompted to type it in. Wait until you hear “Connection succeeded” from the cam, and give the device a meaningful name, e.g., “Front Door”.
- You will be prompted for signing up for a choice of 4 different security plans: “Extra” (90 days free trial), “Unlimited” (90 days free trial), “Pro” (7 days free trial), or “Pro Video” (7 days free trial); all of them offer various services among which is 60 days of cloud recording. You can skip this for later consideration.
-
Installation of the bracket & cam
- Use a ¼” drill to install the bracket using the provided plucks (you may not need the plucks when you install the cam to a wooden surface; in that case, screw the bracket directly to the surface).
- Securely attach the cam to the bracket and adjust the viewing angle with the help of your Swann Security app, “Live View”.
- Using the app, adjust the motion detection sensitivity for the 3 modes, “Home”, “Night”, and “Away”, the Live View Quality, Speaker and Microphone volume, as well as the cam’s Light (if desired) and Siren (if desired). Note that saving settings can take 30 seconds or more and might time out. As such, best double-check if new settings were really saved. The app does not inform you whether the settings were indeed saved successfully.
Daily use
- When operating this cam as a standalone cam, the internal microSD card stores pictures and videos (the cam records events locally to its internal memory even if your home Wi-Fi network or Internet is having issues, as long as your camera is not powered off); the cam comes with a 32 GB microSD card, and can be replaced with one of up to 128 GB of size if needed.
- The app provides an easy-to-use way to have a conversation between you on the app and the person who is in front of the door. All videos are captured with Audio. (see section “Rating” for more details)
- Night Color vision is nice with the cam’s lights on (Tip: In the app’s Device Settings, section “Detection Settings, turn on Cam Lights to 30 seconds or more)
Some tech talk
- The microSD card is formatted with the FAT32 file system and as such, it can be read by any Windows and macOS device. Though all events (videos) can be viewed (and deleted) through the app, you can also view and delete the content of the microSD card on your computer.
- Videos with audio are stored in “Windows Media Video” format. Just rename the larger files with the “.ts” extensions to “.wmv” and you are good to go to use Media Player (Windows), VLC, Real, etc. to watch these videos. Apple QuickTime did not manage to open the files, though.
- There is no support for storing video clips on a NAS (Network-Attached Storage). Cloud storage is only available through Swann’s paid security plans though they offer free trials of up to 90 days dependent on the selected plan.
- Apparently, when the cam is linked to a Swann DVR/NVR (CCTV) system, you will get Dropbox support (not tested).
- The cam’s battery charge is good for 3 months according to the user manual. There is an option to connect the cam to a solar panel (available separately) so you would not need to worry about empty batteries.

This Swann CoreCam Pro Spotlight Camera for indoor or outdoor comes with everything you need to set it up and get it going. In the box is the camera, camera mount and hardware, USB cable, memory card (installed already), stickers for your home, quick start guide, and instructions for downloading the application for your smartphone.
The pros for this camera:
It comes with everything you need.
It’s rechargeable.
Color night vision.
Person detection.
Has QR code for pairing.
It has audio.
Works indoors or outdoors.
Has passive infrared motion sensor.
Has a spotlight.
The application is fantastic.
Has a great picture and video quality.
Easily pairs to your 2.4GHz network.
Has cloud storage.
Has plus plan to store more.
Has ability to connect more cameras and equipment.
Options can be customized via the application.
Live streaming.
Motion recording.
Comes with 12 month warranty.
This was pretty easy to set up, but I did have one issue. The camera only works with a 2.4GHz network. If you have a network that has both 2.4 and 5.0, you might have to set it to split it up and run on dual, instead of automatically sensing what it needs. I couldn’t get the camera to connect on mixed mode. I had to split it up and manually connect to the 2.4 for it to connect to the camera. Other than that. I had only one other issue. It seemed to disconnect randomly, and I had to reset it a couple of times. I finally got it to stay and it works fine now.

Ever since the emergence of residential security monitoring devices that can be installed by just about anyone, there have been good brands and junk. Swann has released a new camera called the CoreCam Pro. I was really curious as to how Swann sets itself apart from other brands and how well it performs. Here we go.
The CoreCam pro is an all-in-one security camera. Meaning that it doesn't require a hub or other device to function, which - in my very humble opinion - is a very good thing. You can add more cameras as you go and they all can be added to the app that manages the cameras. It is entirely wireless, which mean that you periodically will have to disconnect it and charge it. So far, I have only charged it once before installation. Talking about installation, it's easy. 3 screws to mount the bracket and you're all set. The camera itself attaches to the bracket with a hand screw. That's actually rather neat.
This camera comes packed with motion detection features (moverment and people detection), a BRIGHT LED light and a top of the line CMOS 2K resolution camera. There is a small Type C connector hidden under a little plastic cover, alongside an on/off switch and a microSD card slot which saves recordings localy and - if you choose to go that way - to a cloud server. Whichever you choose, you can access the recordings from your phone, wherever you are. The companion app is one of the most feature-loaded I have ever seen. Swann really went the extra mile on this one.
After installing this baby under my car port and adding it to the Swann app, it was ready to rock. The camera's detection feature is quite amazing. As with other security cameras there will be some random triggers, but much less as with other brands. In daylight, the recordings are clear and crisp. The night vision mode on the other hand isn't bad, but not top notch. Note that the camera is equipped with a microphone. You can turn it on or off, it's all up to you.
Frankly, this security camera is the best I have ever had (and I have installed my fair share). It produces excellent recordings with time stamps and other info which can come in handy. I can only recommend this security cam and I will replace my other cameras with Swann's products. Impressive!

The Swann - CoreCam Pro Single Indoor/Outdoor Wire-Free 2K camera contains a camera and a mount. The unit connects via Wi-Fi and has a built in non-removable battery, making it truly wireless. The unit also comes with a micro SD card and slot. The inclusion of the micro SD slot is very appealing as you don’t have to subscribe to a cloud service to store you recordings, unlike other security cameras at this price point which rely on revenue from cloud storage subscriptions.
Setup was easy once you downloaded your preferred mobile app, in my case I downloaded the iOS version for my iPhone. Once you create an account, you follow a setup process which involves providing your Wi-Fi access point password and scanning a QR code on the camera. Once I went through these steps I was quickly connected to my device.
As for how the camera performs? It does a pretty good job with Heat & Motion-Sensing and recording video, the video is clear (2K 1440p 2560x1440 variable frame rate) which you can easily save to your camera roll on your mobile device. The app also provides a plethora of configurable settings, including live video quality, speaker and microphone volume (yes it has 2-way audio capabilities) live snapshot and real time video recording, signal strength of the Wi-Fi signal, detection settings, the ability to update the firmware, reboot the device and format the micro SD card. In addition, this unit also has LED light and a siren, both of which are configurable. The light is not overly bright but does the trick for lighting up the immediate area and transition the video from black and white night vision to color.
The camera is built to use outdoors and is weatherproof, includes 60 days of their via Secure+ cloud recording service (and allows you to continue to use the local micro SD card for recordings if you opt out of a cloud subscription).
Overall, this is a good entry point for a security camera, especially if you only need one, it has all the features you would want and is totally wireless. Although I do have to figure out a good way of charging it without having to dismount it. I am going to probably use rechargeable battery block to do that.
Pros:
- Nice design
- Fairly clean, artifact free video
- Night vision modes
- Micro SD card slot, for local recordings
- Includes a 32GB micro-SD card
- Everything you need to wade into security cameras, especially if you only need one.
Cons:
- Image preview is a bit off from an aspect ratio perspective, including the video thumbnail view.
- Mobile app is fully functional but could use some polish.
- Requires 2.4ghz Wi-Fi connectivity, if your wireless is not dual band (for instance only 5ghz enabled) this unit won’t connect. Most WI-Fi is configured to use both bands for compatibility purposes.

For $150, this product is a great value! Once I had unboxed the camera, which came with a threaded mount for attaching to a wall (and included screws), I left it plugged in overnight to charge via the included Micro USB cable.
After installing it onto my ceiling in my apartment, adjusting the angle to point towards the front door was pretty easy. The app is well featured, offering many options that you would only be able to get on more expensive offerings. When you pair the camera to your phone (via the QR code on the back of the camera), you enter in your WiFi info, and then it will connect automatically to the camera to try to get onto your WiFi network. The setup process was pretty painless, and the camera itself even has several voice prompts to let you know when it is doing something during setup! After it is set up, you can change a large amount of settings, such as:
- Being able to exclude certain zones within the camera's field of view (such as a window where other cameras without this feature may have accidental false positives if, say, there are shadows from a windy day blowing trees)
- Start live view immediately once the app is opened (or only when on WiFi)
- Image adjustments - mirror or flip depending on how the camera is mounted/oriented
- Mic/Speaker volume
- How close/far to detect motion
- Delay to turn on the LED flashlight
- Delay to sound the siren
Settings aside, you can also play back recordings that are saved on the included microSD card, or change the "modes", which change the behavior of the camera based upon your usage (and you can adjust accordingly). The live view function works very well - the camera lens has a wide field of view that doesn't distort as much as I have seen on other brands on the edges. With the live view you can record a clip, take an image, trigger the light, and do a two way intercom.
In the past week that I have had it, using the app has been very responsive in terms of the detecting motion as well as connecting to the camera when I am not at home. I am very impressed with this device - it has a lot of features, can run on the built in battery, and has light / siren / intercom functionality! Great for watching the entryway or back alley.

I really like the Swann CoreCam Pro. I wanted a camera to watch over our driveway but put it off since there wasn't any power there and was worried about running power to them myself. Since the CoreCam is 100% wireless, I didn't have to worry about running any cables or power. The other feature that I really like is the built-in flood light. Now, when my wife or I are getting home we have some light to be able to see what we are doing. Plus, it lets people know that they are being recorded and acts like a deterrent. I am also very pleased with the picture quality. I can easily make out details that would be beneficial if I ever needed to file a police report. Another feature that I appreciate is that I get two different alerts for motion and if a person is detected. That lets me know that it might not just be a cat and that I should check the live feed. So far the battery life has been pretty decent too. I have only had to charge it once in about a three week period and probably will not have to charge it for at least another 2-4 weeks.

The CoreCam 2K Pro took a Swann Dive.

The Swann CoreCram Pro 2K camera provides a good picture and most of the functions are ideal for a wireless security camera. Where the CoreCam has issues, however, is the app itself which is the most important function for using the CoreCam. In other words, the CoreCam would work better with a better Swann Security app.
Pros:
- Easy setup
- App functions/Setup
- Picture Quality
Cons:
- Terrible app
- Weak mounting arm
The CoreCam Pro is simple to set up, with voice directions that guide you through the process. Connecting the CoreCam Pro to my wifi and the app took about three minutes.
The Swann Security app includes a lot of solid setup functions. Such as being able to physically paint (or mask) your recording areas (by using your finger on your phone to color out the areas you do not want to record). I found this useful compared to another wireless camera app I use for a competitor camera (which gives you a box you pull around the screen and accuracy is not ideal). Also, like most cameras, you can select how good the camera quality is (I chose "max" ), as well as the way the image from the camera displays (there are many such as 16:9, stretch, 4:6, etc.) Additionally, the motion setting options are some of the best I have seen compared to competitor camera apps I have used. I was able to set up the person detection sensitivity rating, as well as the sleep period (amount of time the camera shuts off after an event, which I turned down to minimum), being able to set up the light sensitivity (spot light; how long it stays on after an event). Again, there are great options for customization for the CoreCam Pro.
The picture quality is superb; there are highly detailed images (even at night) and having a 2K picture quality allows you to see things with clarity. Being a 2K camera, I would suggest using the "max" quality (which will sacrifice battery) so that you can view a better picture. I noticed that when I set the camera picture to "high" it did not look as crisp and clear. Yeah, you sacrifice battery but you lose picture quality. Again, the CoreCam Pro provides a quality picture at the highest setting.
Since the Swann App settings and Picture Quality are strong suits, the Swann App and camera itself connected to the app are it's weakness. Unfortunately, the app is terrible. Meaning, when I have an event alert and I immediately open the app to view what is going on (such as person detection), the app immediately displays a message in the camera app saying "standby mode, please wait 5-10 seconds." This is not encouraging when you need to see what is happening in real-time. I checked the camera settings (specifically the wifi signal) and my connection percentage was 90%. Again, a little concerning when there are events that are happening and I need to see what is going on. Also, if the app is closed on your phone and an event happens, it takes a long time for the app to boot up. Again, this is concerning because if something is happening at that moment, you should have have to wait too long to view an event.
Likewise, I found a minor bug where the camera turns off randomly (even when I have it set to home). You can provide settings to when your camera turns off and "home" mode will keep it enabled (unless you change this). Again, not ideal when you expect the camera to be running to inform you of events happening outside.
The mounting arm they give you is made of flimsy plastic. Also, the mounting screws were small, cheap (stripped as I was hand-screwing them in), and the moveable arm does not stay put. I had to overtighten the arm to make sure it kept the camera in the position I wanted it in. I am not sure the integrity of the arm will hold up over time.
Overall, the Swann CoreCram 2K Pro provides functional settings and a quality image. Where the cam fails is the app loading and event notices. It is concerning that there is a standby time when you need to be able to see what is happening in real-time. Until there are updates, there are other wireless security cameras out there that will provide a quicker level of comfort when viewing real-time footage, as well as faster load times.

This Swann CoreCam Pro security camera works really well. This WiFi security cam is wireless and extremely easy to set up. With a quick charge, you are ready to start. You must use the Swann Security app (available in both Android and iOS) and it will lead you through the setup process step by step. Once completed, you just need to decide where to install it. It works both indoors and out. I have decided to use this indoors as my security camera.
This amazing little camera can stand up on its own without the included mounting stand for indoor use. If you decide to mount it outdoors, it is weatherproof, it provides 2K video, a spotlight turns on (if you allow that in settings) when it detects motion, it has a siren that can be automatically or manually activated, 2 way audio so you can both hear and speak with people, and there is night vision so it can record when dark. Its sensors pick up the motion automatically and the camera will begin to record. You can also manually record what you see via Live-View if you choose.
The coolest thing about this Swann security Cam is that you don’t need a paid subscription that so many other cameras require. You can purchase one of their plans if you choose, but that is NOT a requirement. This comes with a 32gb micro SD card (you can use up to 128gb card) and you can record directly to this without having to go through a cloud. They do say 1-7 days are stored in the cloud without a subscription as well.
They claim this has a “long battery life” but I have no clue how long that is. After messing with it everyday for a week, it still shows 64% charge. One of the short-comings of this type of wire free camera is that if you have mounted it at a high location, you will need to take it down to charge. Unfortunately, there is no removable battery pack that would make charging easier.
I really like this Swann CoreCam security camera. It is reasonably priced and it works well. With the app, you can adjust most settings too. They have thought of a lot with this and it works. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family.

In the Box:
This comes with a wireless camera, micro USB charging cable, 32G Micro SD card, user manual, protected by Swann stickers, screw in mount and hardware.
The Camera:
This is a 2K camera with motion security light. There is even a siren to ward off unwanted guests. There is a rubber cap at the bottom where the screw mount is, this is where you will find the on/off switch, micro USB slot for charging and the Micro SD slot with the card already inserted.
Setup:
I first plugged the camera in to make sure it was fully charged, and then downloaded the Swann Security App. You will need to set up an account to use the app. Turn the camera on and add device and follow the online instructions for set up. I walked around with my camera to find a good spot to mount it. Once I had a spot, you use the three screws to secure the mount, screw the camera to the mount and adjust it to where the best view is. You do not need a base station to set this up. You only need the app and can add wireless cameras as needed around your home.
Use and App:
Once the camera is mounted and synced to the app, I played around with the settings. You can choose the live view quality between low (which I found grainy), medium and max. When setting the app to medium quality, I found the quality very good. Keep in mind, the higher the view quality the more battery life used. I am able to talk to anyone within camera range as there is a two-way microphone and speaker when using your phone. The night vision on this is black and white infra red and shows up clear. There is also a variety of options for detecting motion and even includes person detection, so that you don’t have a lot of false alarms with animals inside or outside your home.
Optional:
If you want a cloud service and not have all your recordings on a micro SD card within the camera, Swann Secure+ is a cloud service with different price ranges to choose from. You can try it out for 90 days free as long as you supply a credit card.
Features:
Besides the security light on the camera, another great feature is that the camera/app works with Google and Alexa devices. Once you set this up with your Google and Alexa apps to work with Swann, you can check individual cameras from any Google or Alexa device that has a screen.
My Opinion:
This is definitely a good quality camera with easy setup. Swann is a well known name in security cameras and I am very pleased that they came out with wireless cameras as an option. If you can’t run wires through the walls of your home and can’t afford an electrician to do the work, this is a very good option for you.

TLDR: Finally a camera that doesn't suck you into a subscription service!
Yes! You heard correct, even though the Swann - CoreCam Pro Single Indoor/Outdoor Wire-Free 2K 32GB Micro SD Card & Secure Cloud Storage Security Camera with Spotlight DOES have a paid cloud subscription service, it is not a necessity. You can opt for the included 32GB micro SDHC card, or get one as high as 128GB!
The Swann - CoreCam Pro Single Indoor/Outdoor Wire-Free 2K 32GB Micro SD Card & Secure Cloud Storage Security Camera with Spotlight is very easy to mount, as most will either be mounting it to wood, drywall, or siding. Just use the provided screws and you are golden! If you are a hardcore DIY'r you can also mount to brick surfaces but that would take getting out the drill and all the fun THAT entails (end sarcasm); but it CAN be done!!
The light on the Swann - CoreCam Pro Single Indoor/Outdoor Wire-Free 2K 32GB Micro SD Card & Secure Cloud Storage Security Camera with Spotlight is plenty bright for my usage, which is in an indoor stairwell. However, at night, there should be nobody in there - so lights out. One night I had to run upstairs real quick, and 100% relied on the motion detection so the spotlight would turn on (and then back off) and the same when I came back down. When I say it is bright. It is enough to make you feel secure in your surroundings whether they are something along the lines of my use-case or in a more traditional security setup. Yes, the light will have any burglar pee their pants once illuminated, as they will know they have just been caught on camera in full detail!
And full detail is what the Swann - CoreCam Pro Single Indoor/Outdoor Wire-Free 2K 32GB Micro SD Card & Secure Cloud Storage Security Camera with Spotlight provides in picture quality. No, it's not 4k. But most 4k systems aren't completely wireless either! Video and captures for me were very vivid. The one downside is the audio sounds a bit muffled but that may be due to my install location (almost in a corner). Swann promises on average about 3 months per battery charge, and the idea of juicing it up only 4 times a year sounds great!
The app is very "average" to put it mildly. Hopefully after a little while, and more user input - Swann will turn it into a BEAST!! Finger touch input is a tad bit "laggy", and several sections are a bit user unfriendly at first. But then like everything else, you learn it and it is like you've been using it for years!
Swann has always produced quality hardware. And with the CoreCam Pro Single they don't disappoint!!
And the fact you will make an intruder "trickle" with the spotlight adds more brownie-points in my opinion!!
Head to your nearest Best Buy or grab one (or a few!) on the site!

The Swann CoreCam Pro is not my first totally wireless camera setup but it is the first that doesn't require a hub to connect it.
Setup was as expected, download the app to your phone, sign in or create your account and snap a picture of the QR code and it's connected. The camera battery did have an initial charge but as with all rechargeable devices, you should fully charge it first.
The app provides everything needed to provide piece of mind. It has three modes, Home, Night and Away which allow you to configure camera options like motion and sound sensitivity, spotlight, siren and notifications. You can select the mode manually or create a schedule to automate it. Overall, the app is intuitive and similar to the other brands I’ve used.
The camera seems well built and easy to hang just about anywhere. I like that it has its own Mini SD card (32GB included) as well. I don't like that it does not have a removable battery so you have to take it down to charge it or opt for the solar panel. It also uses a micro usb plug to charge rather than USB-C.
The spotlight is bright and the 2K image is crisp and bright, even in low light without the spotlight. The two-way talk between the camera and app is ok but kind of unusable.
The not so good
I have the camera located on an outside garage at the end of my yard which is about 50 feet from the house. According to the app it has 78% Wi-Fi signal strength however, connecting to the app to see the live view takes over a minute to connect to the camera and when you switch away to view previous events it needs to reconnect. Also, trying to view previous events is mostly a fail with the majority of them throwing up an error “The clip is not ready to be played” and when you click the OK button it jumps back to the list. Thinking this might be due to the Wi-Fi connection, I brought the unit into the house and sadly experienced the same lag.
I am also concerned about battery life, after only four days the battery is down to 50%. As far as having the ability to speak through the camera, taking as long as it does to connect or create the secure connection, the speaking moment has passed.
I really wanted to like this camera as on paper it fits a specific need for me, however, in reality, I believe the cons outweigh the pros. I hope these faults are software related and can be fixed or patched, otherwise, I can not recommend the Swann CoreCam Pro.

Easy to Install, On Device microSD Storage

This is my first Swann security camera or product, but I know the brand has a good reputation for quality security and devices.
In the box
- Swan CoreCam Pro
- Mounting Bracket
- Screws
- Charging Cable
- microSD (FYI, it's actually already installed behind the weather seal)
- a LOT of stickers
The last one made me laugh, because for one camera, Swann give you 10 stickers (I counted). Swan are very generous with stickers. There's enough stickers for your entire house, even though realistically, the camera is only going to monitor 1 side of your home.
Setup was easy. The free Swann App requires an account, but pairing was easy and it worked with my mesh WiFi system. The app is good and doesn't push subscription plans like some other cameras. I guess the fact that there is 32Gb of on board microSD storage helps.
Video quality at 2K is impressive. It has been most notable to me at night. I installed the Swann CoreCam with a view of my driveway and the 2K Camera picks up insects flying by. Speaking of night, the night vision picture is clear and the LED light is suprisingly strong enough to ensure colors are visible at night.
On the topic of night. I install the Swann to monitor to my driveway and the mounting setup is good. There's a ball joint to adjust the camera angle (up/down) and a thumb screw type setting to adjust the left/right movement. If you can, I would turn off the camera during installation or at the very least turn off the movement alerts - because my hands all over the camera during setup did fire off more than a few messages.
The only con to the Swann is there is no removable battery, so when it does go flat, you do need to remove it and charge it rather than drop in a new battery. From my research, there was a solar panel (sold separately) for older Swann cameras. Something I am hoping Swann do (or will) make for this camera.
Overall, very happy. Recommended.

Too short of Battery But Good Quality

Finding an outdoor camera now and days is a little bit cumbersome with so many different brands offering the same thing. I was hoping Swann would best out some other brands but I do not think that is the case. Overall, the camera is nice, easy to mount, and provides pretty good picture quality. However, a short battery life, clunky app and bugs, I can't really rate this above 3 stars. Let's go over the pro's and cons.
PROs:
- Easy to install anywhere. Just three screws and you're done. The camera is sturdy and stays in place.
- Picture quality. 2k is very nice! Allows you to see more details than usual.
- Micro SD card. This is a huge one, many cameras now and days force you to subscribe to some cloud model which is dumb when it comes to security. You should always have the option to save locally and this is one of those few camera's from a big name that does.
CONS:
- BATTERY LIFE! This thing was outside for only a week with a 100% charge. It recorded only about... 8 events in that week. It then died.... I was shocked how fast it drained the battery for only recording a few events.
- APP! The app sucks, sorry. It is slow, glitchy, cumbersome, annoying. The initial set up was wonky, not perfect. The recording notifications, whenever you click them, it prompts you with a nice error message saying the recording is not available. But it is! You just have to navigate to the playback option and find the recording. What's the point of notifications if those don't even work? The actual motion detection zoning is a big hit or miss. Also, the still image for the camera seems to default to whatever the first thing the camera looks at when setting it up. So lucky for me, I get to see my ugly mug every time I open the app because it defaults to the first image it saw... annoying!!

I would probably give this camera 4.5 stars since it's not perfect but it is really good. I love that it's completely wireless with rechargeable battery and wifi. This allows you to use it almost anywhere as long as it's in range of your wifi. I put mine outdoors with a view of my carport and driveway as well as my kitchen door leading out to the carport. It's near the ceiling of the carport so it's high enough to not get stolen without a stepladder but using a ladder I can easily remove it for charging.
Good features and included 32 gb sd card for local storage; subscription available but not required. Supposedly accepts up to 128 gb card but I think 32 is enough for me at least for now. Not sure why you would need 128 gb unless you're making home movies with it.
2k resolution for good detail. Battery supposedly lasts up to 3 months on a charge so you shouldn't have to charge it for awhile (maybe it will be warmer in a few months). Light, siren, two way talk, color night vision, pretty much all you could ask for at this price. Kind of wish it had a removable battery so you could have a spare charged up rather than having it down while charging. One of Swann's solar chargers supposedly works with it but you'll need a sunny spot near it's location for that.
Overall for ease of installation, features, and price it seems like a good choice. I may get another one or two for more coverage.

A Decent WiFi Camera

This is my first Swann wireless camera, but I’ve used their wired systems over the years. Their apps have always worked well, and I’ve been pleased so far with this one. It was easy to setup and get connected to my WiFi after fully charging the battery. It was capturing videos in just a few minutes.
The camera includes a 32GB MicroSD card which is a nice touch. Up to a 128GB card is supported. Some might infer from this that it doesn’t send the captured video to the cloud, but it still does. The documentation says the local storage is intended more as temporary storage for times when the cloud isn’t reachable. Once it can connect to the cloud, then it automatically uploads the videos there. Without the Secure+ subscription it appears the recordings have “1-7 days rolling cloud storage” which is free. With the subscription you’d get 60 days of storage. Right now, without a subscription I'm still able to view recordings that it made 3 days ago which is when I first set it up.
One concern I have is that the mounting bracket seems like it might be a little weak. The entire thing is plastic, and the arm seems a little thin like it might snap without too much force. Ideally, nothing would ever hit the camera, but I know things happen. I wish it had a strong magnet mounting option. Some other wireless cameras I’ve had use that and I found it to be very handy. Still, this one has a standard threaded screw hole so if you have another mount around you could probably use that.
I haven't had it long enough yet to know how long the battery will last, but in 3 days it's only dropped to 85% while capturing 30+ video events each day. It's got a 6Ah battery, so I expect it to last quite a while between charges, although not 3 months like I've seen mentioned in the literature. I'm sure it all depends on your settings and how much activity it sees. They also have a solar panel accessory for purchase for it. If I end up putting the camera where it's not convenient to take down and recharge, I may spring for the solar. By the way, the user guide says it can take up to 6 hours to recharge the battery from empty.
While on the battery subject, I wish the Swann Security app displayed the battery level on one of the main screens like the live view. Now, though, you have to tap on the devices icon, then tap on the camera to bring up the device info screen that shows the battery percentage. Everything else about the app seems fine, though. You can easily see the live view, although it can take 10-15 seconds to start if the camera is asleep saving battery. It's also easy to skim back through recorded events and the videos load quickly from the cloud.
There are a lot of WiFi cameras on the market now, and this one seems to be average both in price and features. I'm not sure there's anything that makes it stand out from the others, but it does appear to be a good, reliable camera. If you've already got other Swann cameras and want to stick to the same ecosystem or even if this is your first camera, then this is a good choice for a wireless camera.

Good quality and easy addition to security system

Swann security has been my go to home security monitoring system and I was excited to be able to add a wireless camera to my system. I have installed a wired system as I feel a little more secure with having a stand alone system hard wired into my house and connected directly to a monitor along with the external hard drive. I had need for an additional camera but did not want to go through the hassle of running another wire to add the camera. When I seen the option for a wireless that was compatible with my already installed system I was ecstatic.
The CoreCam Pro is exceptional for what it is. It is completely wireless and is able to connect to the Swann Security app via mobile phone seamlessly. I first charged the camera which took an hour or two to fully charge. I then placed the camera where I desired, opened the app, and simply click add device and it was found easily. When the app opened, the camera was instantly added to my other camera system live view. It was nice to have the additional camera that I needed added to my mobile security app, but I quickly found out that it was not able to be added via the Swann hard drive to be viewed on my monitor.
Other than the inability to add directly to my home system, the camera functioned exactly the same as the hardwired cameras for clarity, detection, and deterrence with the built in led lights and speaker. This camera seems to be very comparable to other big named brand wireless camera systems. One thing I have noticed is the battery life is not what I expected. It has died several times over a week after install. I did adjust the settings to lengthen the life of the battery. However, I do not think I would in the long run want a totally wireless system for the fact the I have to remove the camera just to charge the battery.
The one advantage of the the wireless camera is the built in sd card slot for recordings. You can easily remove the sd card and transfer files. But it is just as easy to download, share, and transfer via the security app.
Overall, a great option for those that have a Swann Security system with the need of adding another camera in a hard to reach spot without wiring. Otherwise, there are many other options for what you ultimately need.

Your detailed review gives us more insight into the things we have done correctly and alerts us where there is room for improvement. The overall battery life of the camera will vary on the amount of use.
