Install was fairly straightforward with a couple of odd hiccups.
Messing around checking this.. and somehow the chime refused to pair. I quickly fixed it by removing its batteries. I also reset the doorbell itself which turns it off for some reason. And the only undocumented way to turn it back on is to plug it back in momentarily. Once those two details were overcome everything was smooth sailing.
Included instructions are easy to understand.
Physical mounting was a little tricky in my case since the space available was a bit narrow making the process of getting the powered wire nuts, and bracket inserted all at the same time not doable. However, I ended up doing the easy method they provided and using the dual sided sticky foam with the bracket already fitted. Nothing could be easier.
Image quality is 4k and great, night vision works, microphone quality acceptable, the door bell chime works well and can be customizable.
One benefit I noticed is much improved video / audio latency over its competitor. Maybe a 2.5 seconds vs over 10.
Oddly enough, it does not ring pre-wired doorbells as well like others do.
This model is wireless but it can also be kept charged using the pre-wired setups which way better than having to uninstall and recharge it periodically.
This doorbell also offers built in recordable videos if you use an SD card saving money from having to buy a cloud plan or it works with Swanns NVR Tower which handles all the recording for you.
The app is well designed and handles the doorbell and other video cameras all in one place. Alerts are easy to configuring and playbacks are easy to find.
For suggestions: I would suggest smaller included wire nuts to help with installation & wired chime support.

As the age the internet of things arise, most are now online based which may be a convenience but at the same time as disadvantage as most products are now subscription based. This now includes your common video doorbell. But the Swan EVO wireless video doorbell changes everything. It has both internal storage and cloud but paid cloud services. Of course there were other brands out there that came out there but Swann is part of an ecosystem. I am biased here because currently I use the Swann Fourtify and CoreCam surveillance cameras.
Inside the box are the video doorbell itself an included chime (Note that competing brands sell this separately) a mounting bracket and a quick start guide. Setup is fairly simple. Just charge the phone first. And while charging the phone might as well download the app if you haven’t done so. Pair the video doorbell to the app and the chime also. Place the mounting bracket where you want to and you’re good to go. And if you are putting it where your old doorbell is, you also have the option to set it up using your old doorbell’s wiring. Wiring is also included.
Basic features include HD video (who needs 4k?), full head to toe angle viewing and two way audio. Video is then stored in an SD card but you also have the option of subscribing to cloud services similar to other Swann products. In my case, no longer subscribed so as to say money and that’s a good thing. I would definitely recommend this product.

The Swann EVO HD Wi-Fi Video Doorbell has been a great addition to my home. Setup was straightforward, and I like that it works either wired or wire-free, giving flexibility for installation. The HD video quality is clear during the day, and the night vision is surprisingly sharp. Motion detection works well and sends alerts quickly, and the 2-way talk feature is handy for answering the door when I’m away. I also appreciate having both local and cloud storage options for recordings. My only minor complaint is that the motion sensitivity can be a bit too responsive at times, picking up passing cars. Overall, it’s reliable, easy to use, and offers solid value for the price.

Great budget doorbell.

There are so many door bells on the market for buyers to pick from so making the right choice for your home is really an important decision to make.
First and foremost Swann has been around for a long time. I have owned about 7 of their DVR systems and have tested them over the years.
This was my first time to test one of their doorbells.
Setup. So setup was a bit tricky for me. I have a stucco exterior wall and that means I don't have much room to tuck wires. I know that Swann was trying to be neat and clean with the installation but I wished it.came with some base plate that allowed for some space for the wires to be tucked in. With that in mind, I had to use my other doorbell base so I could install the doorbell. I guess I could have searched on line for someone who could 3d print something for me but that would have taken some time for that to happen. Also to this can wire to an existing doorbell DC system but it will not work on the existing chime unit. It will only work with the wireless chime unit that it comes with.
Ok moving on to software and setup. After I hung the doorbell, I went through the setup process with android play. That took about 5 to 10 mins for wireless connection to step through and all that. Also I had to disable my higher frequency WiFi signal so I could use my 2.4 GHz to connect it to my WiFi.
Over all use was easy. I already had an account for my 2 other systems so it recognized my device pretty fast. Toggling through all the options was super easy. Video quality was decent. I wished it was a bit higher in quality but for a budget doorbell with the option to not have to subscribe to their cloud services your can't beat that... 1 note on SD card. It requires a higher grade SD card. I initially used a lower grade SD card and it did not like it. It recognizes it. It allows me to format it but it will not record to it. After I figured it out with customer service it worked fine.
Anyway. This is a great budget doorbell and I would recommend Swann as they are a solid company that has been around for a long time.
Keep in mind my installation notes above.

Good Doorbell Cam Marred By Connectivity Issues
|

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The Swann EVO Wireless is a wireless doorbell camera. You get the camera with built-in USB-C rechargeable battery, chime powered by AA batteries, mounting hardware and a charging cable. Set up and installation is pretty easy but requires the Swann Security app with an account to complete your setup. The camera operates without a subscription with local storage being available via a micro SD card.
At the tail end of set up, one of the things you'll do is connect to the doorbell to live view through the camera. Mine was mounted at the recommended 45 inch height and provides full view of me, 6'1" standing about a foot away from the doorbell. When people are really close, you'll get a fisheye effect but otherwise the picture/video looks normal. The live view exercise didn't go so well. The video quality sucked. I discovered about 15 minutes later that this was due to the default video quality being "Low". Setting it to "Max" helped a lot. It still isn't quite as nice through the live view as you'd expect based on the camera's specs, but pretty decent. The other issue was how long it takes to connect to the camera. Most of the time, it's about 10 seconds. Sometimes longer, and only once for a two hour period, it was shorter. The app always claims that its waiting for the doorbell to wake up but this happens even when I'm connected on my home wifi with the doorbell and hitting the motion detected notification or answering the ringing doorbell.
Now, I understand that there's essentially a roundtrip from the doorbell, to Swann's servers, then to the app to send notifications and set up a connection, but it seems like all or most of that should happen with the delivered motion notification or the doorbell ring. But even if you're right their poised and ready to answer a ring or connect as soon as the motion notification is triggered, there's still a decent delay before you actually connect to the doorbell. The good news is that connecting to the doorbell away from home, on wifi or via cell data, doesn't take any longer. It's the same latency. Also, once connected, it streamed high quality video fine though there's noticeably more delay trying to have a conversation when you're two states away.
The doorbell speaker was ok. The audio quality of it's speaker isn't that great - my voice was distorted but it's good enough that you can recognize the voice of someone you know. However, an annoying thing is how the two-way conversation works via the app. So, it essentially implements a push to talk which makes sense and is what I'm expecting. But the way you do it is from the live view (same interface when you answer a doorbell ring), you tap the image/video, then tap the mic icon, then tap and hold a separate icon that says "push to talk off" Even after figuring out how it is supposed to work and having used this for a week, it still doesn't feel that intuitive.
You can capture stills from the live view and if you have an SD card installed, you can download video. It auto records around motion events and doorbell conversations. After the experience of needing to set the video quality to Max and still seemingly not getting the "max" quality over the app, I decided to see if the video recorded to SD was better. The good news is that yes - it is. And since you can download video via the app, you don't necessarily need to ever remove the SD card. You can copy video you want, then delete or erase the card.
As this is battery powered, the times you remove it to charge could be opportunities to make a copy of the SD card directly but part of the kit are wire connections where you can essentially hardwire the doorbell and make it wired. While it's not a feature I used, I think it's nice because dealing with batteries with devices near my front door (keypad and smart lock) is a minor pain so I'm sure there are people who'd appreciate gaining smart features without losing out on the benefits of having wired power to the doorbell.
My final gripe with the doorbell has to do with sharing access. Right now, for the other adult in the home to also have access to the doorbell, I need to give them my Swann security app credentials. So we share the same login which means if someone else wanted to share a doorbell camera with me, they'd also need to share it with a third person. This may not be an issue for some but to me, this is poor security practice and feels limiting. It should be expected the smart access control devices in today's world will generally be shared in some way and handling that in a manner that promotes good operational security should be a first class feature.

I've had this for over a month and the overall quality and features for price are solid. It does have connectivity issues though, where when trying to view live stream or recordings on the SD card, can take a minute or two to connect but the camera is still connected because it alerts of motion during that time. Others have mentioned it and said it might be related to the SD card.

Hi Lawrence,
Thank you for your feedback. We're so glad to hear that you're satisfied with the overall quality and features, especially considering the value for the price. It’s great that you're seeing positive results with the camera, but we completely understand how connectivity issues can be frustrating.
The delay when trying to view the live stream or recordings could indeed be related to the SD card, especially if it’s a bit slower or nearing its capacity. Another factor could be the connection strength, as sometimes Wi-Fi interference or bandwidth can affect the speed of the live stream.
We’d recommend trying a few things: 1. Format the SD card (or try a different one if available) to see if that improves performance. 2.Check your Wi-Fi signal near the camera to ensure its strong enough for streaming. 3.If the issue persists, try lowering the video resolution slightly to see if that improves load times.
If you'd like any assistance with troubleshooting or need help with any adjustments, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected]. We're here to help.

Regarding your concern, our Wi-Fi cameras are designed to work on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks, not 5GHz. If your new internet provider has both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, you may just need to enable or split the 2.4GHz network in your router settings to get your camera connected again.
