    This system isn’t for those that aren’t interested in learning or aren’t familiar with Security systems. There is some basic plug and play capabilities, but you aren’t really using a tenth of the capabilities if you are doing it that way. I have mixed feelings about this and some of that is brought on by them balancing between a professional system and a home system. The cameras have a regular BNC connector but don’t use a coax cable out of the box, so you don’t have the shielding that those offer, also you have 3 power bricks total; one for the DVR, one for two cameras, and one for four cameras. So, tucking this system away on a house on the exterior is not the easiest especially where the power and BNC connector connect to the camera that has a pretty long pigtail. Also, one of the bigger deals in my mind is you will want this DVR in a place where you want to put your monitor unless you love Internet Explorer. I mounted mine in the garage so that I could go straight outside and didn’t have wires hanging around the ceilings inside. I ended up setting up my 4k monitor in the garage to program the DVR as it is not a mobile first device (thought it has a nice mobile app and Alexa integration) Then it took me a bit to realize that Mozilla, chrome, and edge all didn’t work and I had to use Internet Explorer to connect to it from my laptop which wasn’t my most favorite moment with this. I want my security system to be available to me on any platform I am on. I especially had to make this work after I realized that you can’t configure anything from your phone; it is simply a viewing platform with a few controls but no configuration. The DVR itself is nice, it comes with a mouse but no USB for a keyboard, it has one RS485 port if you add a PTZ camera to this later as there are 8 channels but only 6 cameras in the box. Now onto the things that make this a powerful platform. Do you know how nice 4k cameras are? Grabbing that license plate was never so easy. Even if you don’t have a 4k screen to watch them on it’s more about being able to zoom in without losing details. Also, these have some very nice night vision (or whatever you want to call it). They soak in the light and provide a nice ‘daylight’ type picture in low light environments but when it is dark the IR is picture is high quality. Then you have the whole siren and lights thing if you really want to have fun with prowlers. This is where it gets in to the you need to take the time to learn the system just a little. You can customize the sirens and lights per camera, per day, per hour, and so on. So if these are for your business and you want them to go off between 10pm and 6am M-F and all day Sat and Sun that is completely possible. Your can mess with the sensitivity as well in case you are in an area that has animals and you don’t want anything and everything setting of the sirens. The customizability of this is awesome and is built for someone looking for more than a plug and play solution that does all the thinking for you which I really like. But there is a plug and play part of this… the app, it is not smart in some ways but simple to use and maybe exactly the integration some might be looking for. There is a QR code on the front of the DVR. You download the app, create an account, and scan the directions… I think there is another step or two in there but that’s basically it and you have visibility to the cameras right on your phone. Then you can attach your account to Alexa and if you have a Alexa Show like I do you can say Alexa, show me the front door or whatever you named your camera (channel 1,2, etc. by default) and it pops right up in a few seconds which is pretty awesome. So overall, I don’t know that I would recommend this to everybody (If I told my one of Aunts to get this I would be tech support for the rest of the time she owned this, but if I told my other Aunt to get this she would be extremely happy with this as she is a techie but dislikes mobile for getting anything done and has a more dedicated spot for a DVR system with monitor, and for a business a system like this is much more valuable than a plug and play system in my mind). Pros: 4k cameras supports 4k monitor IR Motion sensing/heat sensing Highly customizable Siren and lights RS485 port 2TB storage Alexa Integration Mobile App Easy to setup Cons: Mobile app cannot configure (some control) Using a laptop to connect to the web portal requires IE Multiple charging bricks

    Amazing security features, mediocre user interface

    This review is based on replacing an existing wireless 2 camera system with the Swann 4k Enforcer 6 camera security system.  In the box are 6 cameras with BNC cabling for each camera, mounting hardware, power cables, 2 TB DVR, mouse, HMDI cable, Ethernet cable, security notice stickers, an app install guide.  First, a disclaimer, I am a novice when it comes to installing security cameras, but know how to work a drill and ladder, so I was able to install this system in my horse barn by myself in about half a day. First I setup the DVR in the barn office, complete with a 4k monitor (not included).  If you will be viewing from the monitor versus the mobile app I recommend purchasing a nice 4k monitor large enough to easily view all cameras at once, which can be any number up to a maximum of 8.  Second I decided it was time to read the directions, surprisingly there isn't much documentation, so I downloaded the Swann Security on my Android.  At this point you can use the app and scan the DVR QR sticker to walk you through setup.  Next step was to connect the cameras.  I connected all six cameras to ensure everything worked.  Each camera has a 60' cable, so there was plenty of cable left to reach all of the mounting locations on my 40' x 80' building.  To run power, I required a power strip for the total of 4 power cords: monitor, DVR, and 2 x power plugs for the cameras.  It took me approximately 20 minutes per camera from start to finish, however this was a very easy install, with all cables ran along exposed walls and covered with a cable protector.  This included running the cables from the office, through the loft and mounting to the desired location, and then another 5 minutes to fine tune the angles to get the correct viewing angle. As far as the image quality, this is superb for both home security and keeping an eye on barn security, horse safety, and general barn activities. Note, to get this level of quality, you must have a 4k monitor.  The system is excellent with regards to video quality, the best I've seen, and hands down better than the 4 year old wireless system I had prior. The features include night vision, motion sensing, infrared (heat) sensing, with alarm and warning lights.  I will admit, the alarm is under powered, however I'm on a large farm in the country, so it would take a serious amplifier to make these alarms loud enough to hear at the house.  However if this is installed in a subdivision, there is enough volume to attract some nearby attention.  The night vision is outstanding, with confirmed color at 25' and night vision clearly out to 75'. The specs have the cameras working well beyond this, however this was the limit of my field of observation due to nature of setup. The downside to this system is the interface, I found the DVR system to be intuitive, however it was a bit clunky to navigate and determine all the settings at first. Side note, I'm picky on user interfaces and ease of use.  This is the second security system on the property, from different well known manufacturers, and I'm not a fan of either of their interfaces.  The second downside is the mobile app, again, it works, but has limited functionality.  For me, I primarily monitor while in the office where the DVR is located, so this wasn't a huge issue.  Overall I give this system 4 stars, the equipment is top of the line, however the software interfaces on both the DVR and especially the mobile app were lacking for user interface, ease of use, and mobile functionality.
