These are terrible. I'd give 0 stars if I could. I've had three rounds of cameras installed outdoors by Geek Squad. They work for a week or two then start "blipping" on and off before going permanently offline. After a month, 3 of 7 installed cameras were dead. Best Buy replaced the cameras, and then the same thing happened again. Getting support from the Australia based company isn't terrible, but is a slow process due to time zone difference. Definitely do NOT use outdoors.

This Swann security system is a replacement for an older 2 camera NVR system I have installed in my home. The hardest part of getting the system setup by far is the installation as this is a hard-wired PoE camera system and you will need to run cable from the main unit to the cameras. Also, if you need to route through walls you will need to create holes large enough to fit the RJ-45 connector through unless you want to cut an end off and are able to crimp connectors onto cables. The supplied cable was a twisted mess trying to unwind it and it had lots of kinks in it. The cable is not a real CAT5/6 LAN cable as it has only 4 wires and seems flimsier than most network cable, I have experience with. The instructions cover connecting wires to the NVR but nothing in the way of physical installation of cameras, routing wires, etc., so you will need to either be competent with tools and have some basic home maintenance skills or hire a professional installer. Surprisingly the hole pattern of the Swann camera mounts exactly matched the ones of a different brand I was replacing, which made a couple of the cameras easier to mount. There are several hex head set screws that allow you to adjust the position of the camera in almost any desired way. Be aware if you mount the camera near a wall with the hex screws facing inward it will be more difficult to reach them for adjustment. The included setup guides have you go through the connection and setup prior to physically installing cameras to make sure everything works and is easy to do following the instructions. I was surprised to find that the NVR unit had an old VGA port on the back, but it really came in handy since I am installing the unit in a rack cabinet and just happened to have an old monitor nearby that I was able to use for setup. The setup wizard guides you through setup and does a good job of only making you use the cumbersome on-screen keyboard as little as possible. Connecting the system to the iOS app was relatively easy by scanning a QR code in the instructions, downloading the app and following the remaining instructions. The mobile app works well and is easy to use for setup and very basic configuration. For more custom configurations and advanced setup I recommend downloading the client software for Windows or Mac rather than the mouse only interface. I downloaded the SwanView Link software which was not able to connect to the NVR. There are also other computer apps listed on the Swann website named SwannView Plus and HomeSafe View that do not appear to work with the 8580 either. I ended up opening a support ticket and despite warnings about very long lead times for support a rep replied to me the same day and directed me to an unpublished download location for the Swann Security Video Management Software which worked just fine. The whole process of finding the correct PC software was rather confusing though. Live video quality in either app is excellent both day and night and you can record to your local device from the live camera feeds. The cameras also support and record audio as well. Motion detection and recording also work very well and you can search for and play back recordings easily. You can setup notifications in the mobile app to alert you when motion is detected. If you have high traffic areas I would suggest leaving it turned off until you get a chance to adjust the motion tracking settings unless you like lots of notifications.

I've had this system for a couple of weeks and it is exactly what I was looking for. The picture is clear and the motion detection is great. Nightvision works very well and the settings let you adjust just about anything you could think of. I set this up around my house and in my garage. I needed the NVR system as I only had a 3/4" EMT conduit to run cabling through to my attic for wiring. I was able to pull 6 thick CAT6 cables easily through the 3/4". I put my own ends on the cables (wouldn't be able to pull all 4 cables through a 3/4 conduit with bends with ends attached). The system is working perfectly fine with my cabling. I'm guessing the longest cable is about 60'. The system only calls for Cat5e cables, 4-60' cables are included in the kit. The physical camera's themselves are very nice. They are average size for what they are and the mounts are great, giving you complete adjustability to mount in any direction. I mounted all mine to the soffit and was able to angle the cameras for perfect coverage. They are only 90deg view which was less than the cameras I was replacing so I had to be more careful adjusting for the right coverage. The resolution is great and you can zoom in and see whatever you'd like detail wise. They do made a dome camera that looks like it would be easier in a couple of my locations so I may add a couple channels in the future (the system can handle 8 cameras total). The system itself was not quite the layout I'm used to so I had to track down the manual to learn how to adjust everything. Once I had the manual though it's easy and straightforward to adjust whatever setting you can think of. I haven't gotten into the AI system to deeply but it looks like some pretty nice features. The basic adjustments were all I was looking for to get complete coverage, the AI will just be for fun to play with. It took me an afternoon to physically install the system, but a lot of that was drilling and pulling cables through my attic and soffit (there are many easier ways but I didn't want to see anything other than the camera). The setup takes however long you want to play with the software. I probably spent about 30 minutes with just basic setup and it was fully functional and protecting. The rest of time was just spent playing with different settings to see how they affected everything. The motion sensing must be somewhat AI based because it will trigger my notification when I'm walking over 75' away. The app is pretty smooth. I have an older phone so the videos don't always play smoothly. If I adjust it down to SD playback it seems to do fine (my home cable internet the system is hooked up to is roughly 300mb/12mb). The notifications don't always load in real time on the app notification screen. I don't know if that's my phone or the system but it hasn't caused a problem yet so it hasn't bothered me, they all show up on the system monitor if I need to review, plus it's better resolution. Overall I would highly recommend this system. It works perfectly for my home, and I would definitely be confident using it at any of the commercial properties I deal with.

Swann - Pro Enforcer™ 8-Channel, 4-Bullet Camera Indoor/Outdoor PoE Wired 4K UHD 2TB HDD NVR Security Surveillance System I was asked to evaluate this product and post my review in 3 days. With that in mind, I will say that it takes longer than that to tweak the whole system to my needs, as well as for it to learn enough in its AI to get the big picture. With that in mind, I will give you my view of this system. This is true 4K and hooked to a 4k TV you can get very good pictures, real-time and zoom in very closely ( that you can read text) up to the limitation of the lens – I would say at about 20-30ft dependent on the text size and reasonable on facial. Initial setup is easy since this is a POE ethernet CAT 5e -to CAT 6 product. No need for extra wires and no delay for the NVR since it is a direct connect. Now as far as the Phone / Tablet App, one has to expect a delay because of the path the connection has to take and the speed of your network plus the speed of the WiFi and the latency of the Cell phone connection. Also, the limitation of the screen resolution of the device you are using. A lot of the setup must be done on the NVR as the app does not have the abilities The quality of the cameras and NVr are good even though the cameras are plastic. They both get a little warm during use. The siren and flashing lights on the cameras are annoying but not earth-shattering. Take into consideration any local laws on security systems and certificates needed if you are using these features. There is no microphone hook-up on the NVR, so you will have to use the app and remember there is a delay. Night vision is acceptable in the 30ft range. Be aware of splashback from surfaces when placing your cameras. And there are aftermarket IR emitters available if you want some larger area clear B&W video. Color night vision is acceptable I am still playing with the heat, motion detection and AI settings but for something in this price range, it is impressive. You will need the manual to help figure this stuff out and the AI needs some time to learn and be trained. Even with the manual, this requires some experimentation. Sometimes the AI miss identifies things, but I am hoping I can fix that over time. Setting up Zones, deterrent areas, perimeter intrusion regions are nice features and you can set up privacy zones in case some non-public areas are in the view of your camera. And there are tons of rules and sensitivities that can be set up and changed. I haven’t worked with face detection as yet. One can pump off vids from the NVR to a USB thumb drive and play them on a computer system but you will probably have to download a player with a proper CODEC to view the video. Swann’s website has a link for a free player that works. The unit can also send videos to dropbox. (high-quality videos can get quite big. An added nice feature is that if you have other Swann camera systems you can add them to your app for a great mix and match depending on your need. The manual is 129 pages in PDF form and needs to be downloaded from their website. Options I would like: a wireless mouse for the NVR a microphone option for the NVR cleaner interface that was intuitive Flat CAT6 cable instead of the non-descript CAT cable that is included and severely crushed.

Swann - Pro Enforcer 8-Channel, 4-Bullet Camera Security Surveillance System is definitely one of the best quality wired security system. Following the included instructions was wasy and makes the setup a breeze. The system comes with 4 PoE cameras that has motion sensors which activates red and blue flashing lights, sirens & two-way audio. The 8 channel NVR comes with 2TB hard drive installed, which is plenty of storage even for all the 4K resolution video recordings. The packaing also includes HDMI cable, mouse, 5 Ethernet cables, and power adapter. Setting up the camera and running cables is simple and very convenient as you only have to use the Ethernet cable that supports power, audio, and video signals. The Ethernet cables do need to run all the way to the NVR. Make sure to use longer cables, if the included cables are not long enough for your home. You can connect upto 8 cameras to the NVR. Mounting screws and plugs are provided for easy installation. Once you connect the cameras to the NVR, you can start viewing the videos without any additional configuraton. Download the Swann Security app to view live video as well as recordings from your NVR. The picture quality is amazing and supports night vision with color for upto 32ft as well. You have the option to easily transfer your camera footage to a USB drive or save to Dropbox, which is nice to have, although I wish they will expand this option to other cloud storage providers. The system works with Alexa and Google voice assistants. I do wish Siri was also included as an option as lot of users like me are in Apple ecosystem. Notifications can be customized, whether to alert your phone or send a picture to your email everytime the system detects a movement. The best part of this system is no monthly subscriptions. Overall, I highly recommend this security system if you are in the market looking for a new system or even to upgrade an old one.

This Swann Pro Enforcer camera system is one very excellent home security camera system. It's great that it includes a 2TB hard drive for storage as it can record in 4K resolution. I mean, if you're going to set up a home camera system like this then you want it to capture the best possible video and images. In this regard the system more than meets my expectations. The auto motion detection can be rather sensitive but again, better safe than sorry. The night time video is good enough for me to tell which of the neighborhood stray cats is slinking across my back yard late at night. And see a racoon I had no idea was living in my storage shed! The ones pointing to the front yard lets me review who is in the neighborhood at night. An added piece of mind is that I can log in via my iPhone from work during the day to check on things. Setup is fairly easy and straightforward enough. Just make sure you pick locations to mount your cameras so that you have long enough ethernet cable to reach back to your base station. Included are 4 rather long cables but for my backyard camera I had to get an even longer cable. Another nice thing about this setup compared to others is that it's a one cable per camera setup as power is delivered via the ethernet cables. I'm not sold on the red and blue lights that meant to scare people off though. I mean, would a police car really be hanging from my roof? I think not. The siren though is pretty loud and should discourage most folks from doing bad things. In theory. Overall this is a well designed and built security system for your home with outstanding video quality and lots of built in storage with room to add up to 4 more cameras if you needed to.

Swann - Pro Enforcer™ 8-Channel, 4-Bullet Camera Indoor/Outdoor PoE Wired 4K UHD 2TB HDD NVR Security Surveillance System - White The Setup of the NVR and cameras was very straight forward. They include instruction “books” that will lead you through the setup if you need them. The PC software is the old version, still used by my 5 year old Swann system. They have new software that has a nice look and feel to it but it will not log into the NVR. There is nothing wrong with the old software, I’m used to it, and it does work. The phone software is new, the look and feel is cleaned up and very straight forward. One note about setup. You will need to know IP address, port number, NVR name, user and password to get either the PC or the phone software to work. If you’re not familiar with how these devices work this will probably result in a phone call to support, or an online download of the manual. If, like me, this is your 3rd replacement system, upgrading each time, this will be knowledge you will know about and know how to find. The enforcer lights that flash red and blue do not sync together. They flash each camera at different intervals, making the flashing not as clean as it could be. The 2 way audio between the system and the phone apps is a little less than acceptable. It works, most of the time. Sometimes it works once or twice but then the person at the camera can no longer hear you. By clicking off the camera and back on, it will work again for a couple of times. I have done complete trouble shooting and I can reproduce this every time no matter what phone or network I’m using. A bug report has been reported, for now there is a work around. I’m used to Swann systems, I’m sure it will be resolved in an update very soon. The cameras are very clear and have all the features you would want for a system in this price range. Night vision is just good enough to be usable, but not so good to be able to really see some ones face clearly. I have the NVR set to record 24/7 so when an event occurs I can look at the event, and the minutes leading up to and after that event as well. I would suggest this setting to anyone taking security seriously.

Motion detections, night color vision, spot lights and warning lights are very great features. One of the best systems I have ever used.
