Amazing System

I shopped for 8 + hours online learning about specs and ease of access and use. For the price range I was shopping I could only choose a few options that I wanted in a system. This system has everything that I was looking for. Great buy for the price.

Overall, it is a OK system for beginners or DIYers. 4K UHD means 4K format only; due to their small size sensors, the actual video quality is far less than your 4K DSLR quality, may be slightly better than 2MP. Cameras orientation has design flaws, they cannot rotate both sides, so you may end up in weird angles. Software's functionality is good enough, may be a little too complicated for some to begin with, but it can get all jobs done. If my expectation to this system is merely a toy, then I will give it a 5 star. If I expected it to be a professional system, I can only give it a 1 star. So a solid 3 star on average, and minus 1 star due to one of the camera is defective and intermittently flickering and giving false alarm and recording.

Poor camera quality.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Poor quality 8 of the 12 camera's do not maintain 4k quality as specified in the SPECS. if you switch off 4k and and return on another 4 cameras mounted then they switch over. Swann support said only 4 Camera's at a time work as 4k. I reminded defeat the purpose of buying 16 port 12 Camera 4k system.

All cameras will record at 4K at all times, however if you're playing back the clips on a screen connected to the DVR then you may not be able to play all cameras at that resolution simultaneously as it would consume a large amount of processing power & the DVR may struggle. You can still playback clips from multiple cameras, just not all 12 at the one time at the highest resolution.

No 2-way talk!!!!!

It would have been the #1 of all wired camera system! Pros -Police style lights -Spot Light -Siren -Night vision Cons -No 2 way talk (youd have to buy a mic) -Power source for each camera -video quality wasn't crisp for 4k I returned it within a week because of the cons, and gotten the competitor company camera system Lorex that has all the pros i wanted in a system just not the police style lights.

Not a good camera for beginners!!!

Picture is good but if there was a need to play back the video due to an incident, I still have no idea how to do this. No manual. Don't like having to download instructions. No in store documentation to read until you buy it. This item is for tech savvy millennial's. My wife & I are in our late 60's.

PIR sensors work best when your subject walks across the field of reference versus directly towards the sensor. The more the object must "cross" the front of the camera the better the detection reliability. When placing your camera try to avoid situations where the subject would move straight toward the camera if possible. You may need to experiment with the sensitivity settings and camera placement to get the ideal detection.
