90 degree cameras, no microphone

Compared with other cameras like Night Owl that get 100 degree, this one gets 90 degree. This means, if you have a corner of a house, you will have a dead spot if your cameras are facing forward and cameras are perpendicular, and not close together at the corner. That is unless you want to stick up another camera just for the dead spot. Also, no microphone on the cameras. These are basic features people expect, go with another that provides these features.

Posted .Hi Jason. Microphones on DVR-based cameras are a relatively new feature in the market (from all brands, not only Swann). A technology advancement about 18 months ago allowed for audio to be carried over Analog Coax cables, previously this feature was limited to more advanced NVR and IP cameras.
Swann do have some DVR cameras with microphones (model codes PRO-1080MQB & PRO-4KMQB, for example), but not every camera has the feature as not all customers want it or wish to pay extra to have it. When comparing camera view angles, just double check that whatever other brand you're comparing us against is using the same method of measurement. Swann will always list a horizontal view angle as it's more relevant to what you can see, but others such as NightOwl might list a diagonal measurement so that it looks like a bigger number. In reality a 100 degree diagonal view is almost equal to a horizontal field of view. -SD, Swann Team

My previous Swann DVR was great for about 2 years then it began to lose it's ability to display what it reflected was recordings. After about a year of constant contact with Swann I gave up and purchased a new Swann System from Best Buy. Note: Pay attention to details. The new cameras require you to rerun all camera cables even though they appear to be the same. The new cameras require a 90 degree mounting location so forget about mounting the cameras to the underside of your eves and positioning them correctly. The new cameras have limited mounting positions in that they cannot be swiveled for optimum viewing. The new 4k DVR is fine. This is not a reflection on Best Buy but a statement advising consumers to pay attention to details before purchasing cameras with limited options for placement.

Great angles and quality!

Pretty straightforward installation. Great display when in conjunction with a 2k or even better a 4K monitor for 24/7 monitoring.

Unfortunately I had to return the DVR after spending hours installing and not being able to use. After doing online diagnostics with Swann tech, he determined it was bad. Swann was good about sending return label and shipping out a new one quickly. Just disappointed that it did not work out of the box. Now it is all good.

Great clarity for great price

The app didn’t work with older IPADS but probably works fine with newer ones. Like the PIR recording which avoids recording wind movement. Would recommend this.
