The stand is better, the materials feel better in your hands, the screen is brighter and crisper. Everything just looks and feels better made. A shame it came out 4 and a half years later.

My main issue with the original version was the screen. This one is beautiful, and it was important to me as I play almost exclusively handheld. It might not be worth it if you play mostly in docked mode. Although the LAN port is a nice addition.
